Horrible Bosses - Patreon Version

IncredibleBulk

OH yes, been looking forward to this! perfect for a chill Saturday!

Ashton Lewis

Another actor that people can only see in one role would be Alfonso Ribeiro - Carlton from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. He played the role a little too well and hasn't really been able to be looked at as anyone else since. Huge D-bag in real life though anyway so no biggie

Tay Schumaker

Jodie Foster in The Accused. Vince Vaughn makes a similar reference in Wedding Crashers

Jasbro

If we're sharing horrible boss stories then i had one boss that would just make stuff up to cause in fighting betweem staff members, there was only 5-6 of us working in this store (retail ofc) and whenever her bosses showed up to chew her out she'd blame us for everything.

lordoflondon

im always surprised at just how ignorant Simone is to the real world, but blanking on Luigi is just shocking. like you cant even claim "oh they didnt teach that in school"... like at what point is it just deliberate ignorance.

beefjerkywizard

Friends with Money is a great Jennifer Anniston movie as well as The Break Up

Tay Schumaker

The sequel is pretty great too. Hope you get around to it

Tay Schumaker

I mean I’m very aware of the whole thing and I didn’t get what George meant at first either

Farbod

Need to watch some really good Colin Farrell films... In Bruge and Cassandra's Dream

Tay Schumaker

Seeing Charlie Day high on coke singing Thats Not My Name for the first time is maybe the hardest I’ve laughed at a movie

lordoflondon

yeah except after she her self said Luigi, still ended up being confused. its consistent with how ignorant she is with real world things, past and present. its just sad tbh.

Farbod

The Gentlemen is fantastic, but hes only in it for a few min. Nevertheless, I would love a reaction to it.

Brandon

Horrible Bosses 2 is pretty good, but it's not quite as memorable. It has a very similar plot to an 80's movie with Danny DeVito called 'Ruthless People' which is a way better comedy IMO. I've been to an Applebees in Canada before. Honestly, the steak wasn't too bad. It didn't blow me away, but the meal was nothing worthy of a bad reputation. Now Olive Garden... there's a restaurant that deserves it's reputation for being kind of generic.

JohnB

Kelsey Grammer as Frasier?

Mike FromOz

Lots of people don't pay attention to current events. I am tuning out news from the US because it's tiring and I can't be bothered spending intellectual or emotional energy on the constant wave of negativity being hurled at us on every possible device we have available. If Simone has chosen to tune a bunch of information out to avoid this kind of anxiety raising stuff, then let her. Leave her be man, not everyone needs to know everything about the world.

Kyle Baker

Hmm actors very specifically known for one character.... looks at the schedule every Wednesday. :D

Farbod

Wetwork is also Russian slang for an assassination that alludes to spilling blood.

David Zabel

Jason Bateman is the most underappreciated actor of our time. His line deliveries and his timing are impeccable.

benjamin hall

Yes, Jason Bateman is hilarious! Please check out Bad Words!!! It's in my top 10 all time favorites movies.

Mike FromOz

They've watched "In Bruge" (and loved it), so I would recommend "Phone booth" as a replacement Farrell movie.

Mike FromOz

I've not seen it, I was suggesting Phone Booth as a replacement for In Bruges.

Tomas

George and Simone... How do you always manage to find obscure versions of the movies you watch, and why do you pick those versions? I know you pirate most of the stuff you watch, so why not use the overwhelmingly more popular and easy to find editions (like the Extended Edition in this case) rather than a theatrical cut that is almost not available anywhere, pirated or no? I'm not even asking to do "research beforehand", just check out what version is 99% of those available when you're going to download and use that.

Cinebinge

Hi Tomas, we understand your frustration and we do sincerely apologize. However, please do understand that at no point, and would we ever have any reason to ever PURPOSELY look for versions that are harder for patrons to find. That would be counter productive extra work, and is an accusation we do not take lightly. The problem stems from this, with each movie there are a few factors to consider: 1. How many versions are there? 2. Which version is the most preferred, as sometimes DC are better than TC and vise versa. If opinions are divided, we go for the majority. 3. Once we have a version chosen, we try to figure out if the copy we have is the correct one. Since we havent seen these movies, we don't actually know so our best option is to google "____ version runtime". 4. After that, we go to multiple streaming sites to compare the runtime, however that isnt 100% accurate as some platforms like Prime does not include the credits as part of its listed runtime. 5. If no preferred version was mentioned to us, and we cannot find a clear runtime that matches across multiple platforms, we go with Theatrical as that would've been the version available at the movies initial release, in theatres. 6. In some rare instances like with Crank, versions are not even indicated, thus leading us to not be aware that there was even a version difference. Especially with runtime comparisons that only shows hour and minutes, not seconds where the differences are. 7. Very often, the most widely available version is Extended cuts, which in the past has overwhelmingly not been the preferred version, it simply is the most widely available. In this case, as we didnt recall seeing any version preferences mentioned, we chose to go with the version that would've been in theatres as a first time experience. At no point had the thought "lets purposely get the versions everyone else cannot get" cross our mind.

beefjerkywizard

I should also throw out, We're the Millers for Anniston and Sudeikis. Also if you two haven't you definitely need to watch Arrested Development for Jason Bateman

beefjerkywizard

For me, the version they watched was easier to find than the extended because I could find on a streaming service over torrents

lordoflondon

eeh i mean its annoying when it happens but "always" is a strong word here and a bit of selective memory. 95% of the time the versions are fine.

lordoflondon

it would also just be more productive to offer actual suggestions and help than to rant and blame. theyve said before that they have to use actual movie files rather than stream because Simone lives in the woods and her internet is too crappy to allow their movies to stay in sync while on discord. resulting in each of their own viewings to drift further and further apart, plus George needs an actual file of the movie to edit as well. so perhaps after each poll concludes, we the community can just tell them "go for this version, it has this run time".

Tomas

Thank you for your answer Cinebinge; and no need to apologize. Of course, I don't mean to imply that you pick difficult to find versions on purpose; I think you generally do a hell of a job! It is just that in the case just like this (and there has been many previous occasions) one version is so overwhelmingly and clearly more popular and easy to find. So unless people asked specifically for the theatrical version, in my mind it does not make much sense to pick it. Especially when Extended Cuts are usually just the same but more, and not different otherwise (unlike Directors cuts). Streaming services are not really relevant imo since odds are they don't have the movies, they're region blocked or other shit making them unreliable anyway. > it would also just be more productive to offer actual suggestions and help than to rant and blame. It was neither meant as a rant nor a blame, but questions regarding why they are doing things in a way that seems counter-productive. If they want a suggestion, then my suggestion is join a reputable private torrent site (like Iptorrents or w/e) which has everything and where stuff is only uploaded by reputable seeders, instead of digging through a bunch of shady sites like TPB or worse.

lordoflondon

ya but that still doenst help with the version problem. ive definitely seen past posts where ppl on here literally tell them to always go for theatrical cause extended is nearly always bad unless specified. with the last poll winner Big, ppl in the comments specifically said to go for theatrical and not extended. so im hoping thats what they will do. but whatever next weeks poll is, when a winner shows up it would be good for you Tomas, to indicate what version you want.

Brandon

Extended/Unrated versions are usually the most popular version that people own on disk. In a lot of cases with comedies like Horrible Bosses they would release an extended version that's a few minutes longer and that would be the version that everyone ended up buying. In a lot of cases you can't even find a theatrical version of a movie on disk and you'll only ever see it on streaming or when it airs on TV. Personally I think the theatrical version of comedies is usually better. The unrated versions usually extend the length of scenes with additional ad-libbed jokes and it breaks the flow of the theatrical version's editing.

Tomas

Usually when the Theatrical version is more popular, it is going to be easy to find. If it is not easy to find, it's most likely not gonna be more popular. So unless someone specifies (for individual movies, not just generally "all theatrical is always better"; because that is nonsense) to go for a specific version for some specific reason, my suggestion is to go for the one most available.

Chris

Miami Vice! I know people hated it... but I swear it's a misunderstood masterpiece...

Cincassette

you guys should also watch "We're The Millers" with Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston!

lordoflondon

that is absolutely not always the case, its not even most of the time Tomas. when they posted crank the first thing i did was to just download the top torrented version and it 100% was the weird German edition.

D. T. Nelson

Most people would probably first think of her character in Friends when anyone mentions Jennifer Aniston, but she has done other roles that they could point to. You don't get actors more associated with a single role than you do with actors in Star Trek. Leonard Nimoy actually had to write a book titled "I am not Spock" to try and disassociate himself from the role. (Of course, 20 years later he went on to write its sequel "I am Spock", so even HE had to admit he was forever linked to that character).

Florian Geyer

A movie eith Christoph Waltz in it that I highly reccomend is "Carnage". There are only 4 people Christoph Waltz, Jodie Foster, kate Winslet and John C. Reilley. Its based on a french stage piece "Le Dieu du carnage". Verry awsome. Also when I now think of John C. Reilley I must think about "Gangs of New York" one of my favourite movies <3

Max Krause

Speaking of Daniel Radcliffe doing weird movies to lose his Harry Potter image: Swiss Army Man is really good (and weird), you should add it to your list!

Sumner Hayes

I love that with everything going on in this movie, one of the things Simone was most concerned about was: “They don't clean their own apartments?” 😂

Christian

I love this movie. One of the rare ones where the sequel is just as good imo.

SpankTheMonk

Jason Straight And Narrow man wins again!

IncredibleBulk

daniel radcliffe has done well to break out of harry potter because for me when i think of him now my brain defaults to him in his role from swiss army man. such a weird but amusing film.

Tay Schumaker

This version was on amazon prime video, at least in the US. The only time I feel like they found an impossible version of a movie was Amadeus. And not only was the version they picked hard to find, it was the inferior version

Jpsynergy

Ended up finding this one. Shout out to whoever suggested to look on Amazon Prime.

Steve Mercier

This movie is comedy gold...the sequel is dogshit. Some people may disagree...but they're wrong. It's dogshit. Great cast. Dogshit.

REDR58

Of course Amadeus is now available on 4K (and I think streaming) in its original theatrical version! It just came out near the end of February.

REDR58

I am going to go ahead and assume that the Applebee’s joke is because Applebee’s is a rather “safe” cookie cutter family restaurant where not a lot of craziness goes on typically aside from screaming babies? The restaurant Jennifer Aniston worked for in “Office Space” is basically Applebee’s. George and Simone, you did not seem to recognize him but the older man at the end of the movie is Bob Newhart, an American stand-up comedian and actor (and star of several long-running TV shows). He was known for his deadpan humor and satire. He worked from 1958 to 2020 and died in 2024. This is a good example of the kind of work he did: https://youtu.be/Ch2wziLnsBE?si=-vHCveSdCiCNoSPl Edit: The joke about the the apartment looking like a “Sharper Image Catalogue” is that the place was full of the sort of stuff one could buy from The Sharper Image, a company that sold a lot of gadgety-type things, usually in shopping malls. They were all closed as of 2008 and are only online now. Here is a typical Sharper Image store: https://youtu.be/UCHo-yV2Svo?si=d1Z0DkLZa5oQoAoq

ShoNuff3000

I only know Jennifer Aniston from Leprechaun before Friends😉

Morion Williams

Tim Allen - Home improvement Mark Hamil - Star Wars Lots from Star Trek Dawson Creek Actors Serah Michelle Gellar - Buffy David Borenez - Angel James Marsters - Spike - Buffy Williams Stewart Head - Giles - Buffy

FranciscoGios

Pretty funny movie, never seen it. I’m so lucky I’ve never came across this types of bosses in my hard working professionalism. Rob White!! Holy shit! New Memory Unlocked I know him only on his Stand Up comedy Tours, the more he drinks liquor the more jokes he will tell.

Misha T

Poor Applebee's, lol... As far as I know, they've never done anything wrong, per se. For some reason, people just decided to make Applebee's the designated representative for all boring, mediocre, corporate restaurant chains.

Henry Sanchez

This is my second time in a week mentioning Sons of Anarchy. But the cast of SOA is noticed for their run. Like a lot of the actors are character actors or do other stuff but when you see them in other stuff after watching Sons of Anarchy you immediately call them by their character name in SOA

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Yaah the Danny Vito Hitchcock movie is a real thing and I think it's great. It's "Throw Momma From The Train", directed by and starring De Vito with Billy Crystal and the captain of the Voyager lol. It's based on Hitchcock's "Strangers On A Train", Danny De Vito is actually a pretty accomplished director of dark comedies, "War Of The Roses" is another of my personal favorites you guys gotta watch sometime.

Michele

Love the open! A summers day is not a bitch! I’m dying.

Derek

I definitely agree that Jason Bateman has incredible dry delivery, but what really gets me is that he has the best comedic timing to go with that. He has a borderline supernatural ability to know exactly how long to let a silence linger before delivering a punchline in the funniest way possible.

SpankTheMonk

Worse vs criminal boss (aside from how a specific character evolves) - Jen is criminal the others are horrible in other ways. So no one will ever react to this movie but Kevin Spacey has played horrible “bosses” for a long time- “Swimming with Sharks” 1994 -ultimate horrendous outcome no spoilers.

DinChild

We're the Millers needs to happen.

Joey Johansen

Somehow never seen or aware of a sequel to this, look forward to watching along it's trailer looks fantastic :)

Drew

My horrible boss was a mostly chill dude, but definitely a “Bro”. The easiest thing to clock was his vibe of “If circumstances were different, he’d be a cult leader”. Get to know him better, he’s a pretty open racist. It was a taxi company, and I’d find he’d dispatch all the POC customers to me (because I’m Native American, which he was cool with?). Was never an issue for me, but it was conspicuous. Also *later* found out his silent partner, his brother, was in a white supremacist gang in the 90’s. And no one talked back to the brother, he was an army combat veteran who definitely killed people, and the kind of guy who’s not getting ptsd from doing so. Soooooo I quit when it finally got to be too much to ignore

Jay Davis

I'd say Seinfeld but that would be cheating. I think someone else has (or will say it) but Kelsey Grammer as Frasier has to be the one... right? 40 years on that character.

Dane Aguilar

I was in mid gulp and had to pause 5 seconds into the reaction to stop myself from choking to death and then clean the spray of water off my desktop lmao. That was perfect delivery and completely unexpected!

brian burke

yes i had some horrible boses, one of the worst claimed i was not actually autistic, but he still had to answer to others above him and they made him stop talking to me, he went to another area after that but still worked there.

brian burke

check out HORRIBLE BOSSES PART 2, not as funny but still good

Bill Campbell

I like Horrible Bosses 2 more than one.

joejud1017

Regarding your question in the intro, anything Hugh Jackman is in, he's Wolverine to me. Same with Tobey McGuire. Hannah Montana, Urkel, Marty McFly and Doc, Carlton, Kingpen to name a few that come to mind.

joejud1017

That gregory feature in the GPS of the car is similar to OnStar. Used to be really popular. Not sure if it is anymore.

Brad Lowry

Joey Tribbiani and Matt La Blanc are so associated as Role and Actor that there was a Full-On British Show about two writers of an off-beat British Situation Comedy being coaxed into remaking their quirky comedy in Hollywood for Americans. What they don't know is that it is a relaunch for Matt La Blanc's career but offensively bad casting. (The trailer "spoils" this and it ran for 5 seaasons...). That he plays a Hollywood Actor trying to shake the "velvet trap" of super-stardom as himself is pretty strong association, no?... but I guess any of the six "Friends" could have done the role. It is quite good show and the "writing couple" are play by two great British Comic Actors... So I recommend it for anyone who reads this, and for G&S for this channel, although it's a little bit off the beaten track.

Philipp Roensch

Isn't it an insult to actors if you only associate them with one role?^^ But you have also seen Jennifer in Bruce Almighty and Iron Giant, she does quite a few voice roles. Could only grab a German dub of this, sadly dry and funny get replaced with just squeeky voices here (because haha), but it still works. Fun reaction with you flip flopping who has the worst boss.

jay

George, I'm more surprised you aren't aware of this site: https://www.movie-censorship.com/ It has almost every single alternate version of any show or movie, with run times included MOST of the time. I will say though, the Horrible Bosses extended cut is much harder to find than the theatrical, but I think this is one of the only times where this has been the case (in my opinion), and thankfully in this instance it doesn't take away much. EDIT: After watching this movie again, I take back my last sentence about the theatrical version not taking much away. I forgot how many amazing jokes there are that are left out! My favorite one is when Jamie Foxx's character is explaining his name, they actually show an animated (If I remember correctly) scene to go along with his dialogue, and it's amazing. Also another good one, in the hotel scene with the "hitman", when they're leaving, Charlie Day says "Oh man, that guy would've soaked us!"

jay

Watching it right now from your recommendation and I had to pause it 30 minutes in to come back and say they NEED to react to this! Absolutely hilarious already. Thank you for the rec
