Yesssss. It has arrived.

You should watch Memories Of Murder which is Bong Joon Ho`s best movie and widely considered one of the best korean movies of all time. Its a crime thriller often called "Korean Zodiac" due to the heavy influence it had on Fincher`s movie Zodiac.

Parasite is such an amazing movie. When you think you know this is going, it does a 180 flip and it just goes completely apeshit, keeps escalating in a way you never know to where this is going. It is fun and interesting but it has so many layers of societal critics in it and the movie title is simple and perfect. If you think about it, all characters in this are parasites in a way. The rich cannot live without their servants as they are completely inapted to do any normal tasks in their lives and can only live they way they do because they have people serving them 24/7. The poor family would not be able to go up in life (which is constantly reminded in the movie with the visual representation of where they live) and are stuck in their unfortunate life that basically the only way they can get a nice job without connections and education is through a scam - turning them into parasites as well. And then you have the housekeeper and her lunatic husband which are even more fked, having to live imprisoned to be able to afford eating and are also parasites. In a clever and bizarre way shows how the parasiting is normal in society and keeps things completely unfair for the people who are "below" as the rich remains usually unbothered.

This was one of those, “Ok let’s see what the fuss is all about, Holy F**k, now I see what the fuss is all about” kind of movies

I found Mickey 17 to be good but definitely not his best.

Yes, the rock was shown floating in water. It's hollow, not a real stone at all. It's meant to bring wealth, and therefore hope, to Ki-woo, but both the rock and its promise turn out to be hollow after all. The part which sticks with me more than any other part in this film is the conversation the Kim family have where they talk about how Mrs. Park is kind despite being rich, and then correct it to her being kind BECAUSE she's rich. That might be the core of the whole movie. She's able to spontaneously give 'Kevin' extra money because she's rich. She's able to be sweet and doting on her son because she's rich. She's able to be gullible and a little dim because she's rich. if she wasn't rich, she wouldn't have time to pamper her son. if she wasn't rich, she would have suffered immensely at the hands predators. If she wasn't rich, she wouldn't be able to afford a tutor in the first place, and certainly wouldn't have paid more than the pre-set fee if she got one. Whereas on the inverse, because the Kim family is poor, they have to sneak and scrounge constantly. And that doesn't make everything they do "okay", but it nonetheless stems from the fact that they simply don't have the same opportunity to be kind.

You already watched a Bong Joon-ho movie, Snowpiercer ;) But you can never have enough Bong Joon-ho in your life :D This movie is really amazing, so many subtle details. For example, TC is often associated with poverty, so the mothers strong reaction to it plays into the them eof them having disdain for poor people.

Happy Hanukkah

It's a term of endearment, that's all.

saw this on a whim in Chicago expecting a slow, boring but good foreign film. lol it was immediately one of my favorite films ever. I laughed throughout, it is a hilarious horror story. Best of it's kind.

Watching this movie after it won best picture opened me up to the world of Kdrama and I've never come back haha

There are a couple of small instances where the mom does things that are not so great. One obvious example comes early on, which most people seem to miss. She's preparing Kevin's first payment. She fills the envelope with a certain amount of cash, but at the last second, she takes a chunk of bills out of the envelope. When she hands it to Kevin, she lies: "I added a bit extra, for inflation." Another one that you might have misunderstood slightly (which many don't seem to fully notice) is that they are not suggesting the driver that gets fired is a rapist. They are *purely* speculating that the woman was on drugs. It's very similar to the way certain people assume all cities are full of drug users, roaming the city, shooting up in public, and causing chaos, but that's all in their heads. Also, as you did note in the movie, she is completely oblivious to what is going on outside of her bubble, like when she views the rain as a refreshing thing and meanwhile, fairly close by, people are living in a gym and their homes are flooded or destroyed.

Bob Steger

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I love how it unfolds like a modern Shakespearian tragedy.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Should really be the other way around given that “Memories of Murder” precedes “Zodiac” by 4 years.

Boyan Konov

This is correct but since Zodiac is the more popular film, memories if murder didn't get the best distribution overseas and director Bong got popular after snowpiercer and okja that's what people called it in film circles.

Also, while the house was a set, there are other Trivia entries on IMDb clarifying this a little. I imagine the door on the street is real. However, the set is the entire house that is seen when Kevin ascends the stairs, and the top half of the house is CGI. I believe some of the trees at the end of the yard are CGI as well. The track that plays over the end credits, which was written by Bong Joon Ho himself, is called "A Glass of Soju," but it was originally titled "564 Years," the estimated amount of time it would take for Kevin to afford to buy the house.

My favorite thing I noticed on my second viewing of this movie is near the end. When Ki-woo wakes up in the hospital and says something along the lines of "detective who looked nothing like a detective," and "doctor who looked nothing like a doctor," take notice how both the detective and doctor have no idea what they are doing. If you watch all of the background actors in the hospital scenes, the nurses etc., none of them act like they know what they are doing. Have all of them weaseled their way into these positions, like his family did? Does he see it now, and that's why he can't stop laughing? It's such a fun detail I missed the first time.

What a cool observation.
