Yes, that’s Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor…one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history…who famously tells the kids not to smoke crack. He spent his entire career with the New York Giants, winning two Super Bowls and becoming known for his relentless style of play. He’s also remembered for the hit that ended quarterback Joe Theismann’s career, causing a gruesome compound fracture in Theismann’s right leg.

One of the greatest pass-rushing Linebackers of all time and the reason I grew up a Giants fan,

If we're telling injury stories I have a few (hundred)! Here's one that's not too bad: I was a flooring contractor for years until 2008 (No need to explain why '08 was my last year of self-employment, right? ;). I was finishing up a big hardwood floor job, and I was really rushing to get it done and finally get a bit of a break. It had been three weeks of 15 hour days between this job and my part-time work at UPS, which started at 4:30am, then I had to drive an hour to the customers house, work as long as I could, then nap while driving the hour-long trip home. After three weeks of this shit, I'm finally shooting the very last nail into the very last piece of trim when the 2" long brad nail bounced off a piece of metal and went through the index finger on my off-hand that was holding the trim piece in place. Even though an 18ga brad is about 1-2mm thick, it was so fast from my nail gun that it didn't hurt at all. I looked at my finger and the nail had gone right under my fingernail leaving the last 1/2" sticking out. The rest of it had ricocheted off of the tip of my finger bone which caused it to curl back and emerge from the pad of my finger in a nice and neat little U-shape. If the nail hadn't bent off of my fingertip, it would have just shot straight in and it would have been surgery to have it removed. I laughed, the client and her daughters screamed, but I used my pliers to easily pull it out by curling it out just the way it went in. Of course, I got a picture of it first and sent it to my kids on the way home. They thought it was cool, my wife, not so much, lol.

I love this movie. Early Sandler movies had a lot of heart (even though some of the jokes are of their time). I would love to see you guys check out Big Daddy (1999).

Fairuza Balk was not just a witch in The Craft but was the original Worst Witch back in 1986. (If I’m mentioning her 80s movies I’ve got to include a request for a Return to Oz reaction.) The Waterboy is a more humane movie than Forrest Gump. That’s not saying much but I think Adam Sandler’s strength as a filmmaker is the compassion he has for his characters.

You should watch the greatest sports movie of all time: Baseketball...

Ha! Octokrool just posted their full length reaction to Baseketball... I love coincidences...

For an upcoming sports movie poll, Any Given Sunday (1999) by Oliver Stone with one of the best speeches in movie history would be great.

If yall love Kathy Bates, yall need to watch Fried Green Tomatoes

When I was in the Army I took the Combat Lifesaver Course, it's just a slightly more advanced first aid course than we got in Basic Training, but to complete the course we had to initiate an IV on our partners. I did fine but when my partner tried to do mine he pierced the vein but didn't get the catheter in fast enough and when blood started squirting he panicked and dropped it, I stayed calm and kind of laughed, anyway the medic had to fix it and he still passed my partner lol. I just thought it was really funny because my blood squirt out with my pulse and I remember thinking "don't panic because it will bleed faster", and I said "hey man are you gonna fix that?" Fun thing, the day before that the medic told us that if we happened to get really drunk that night the IV with saline would cure our hangover and he wasn't lying, headache went right away.

The first time I went skiing, which was also when I was in the Army, I ate shit and I thought I had stubbed my big toe really bad, maybe sprained it, hurt like a son of a bitch but with the adrenaline and just having so much fun I just got up kept skiing. At the end of the day I took off my boots which were rented and my sock was soaked to the ankle with now dried blood, turned out I had snapped my toe nail completely off. After that we went to the field for about a month and the toe got infected, the nail had started to grow back but had turned green, had to have it removed by an Army nurse, the nail not the toe, getting the anesthesia shot under the nail was probably the worst part.

Aw man, Simone, the one thing you know about football is wrong, a touchdown is 6 points, it's the kick for the extra point that makes it 7.

I really love this movie, it's one of those feel good comfort movies I can go to for reliable laughs. Doesn't matter how many times I've seen it. The natural Adam Sandler follow on from this is definitely Big Daddy, but Punch Drunk Love is his "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" random really good dramatic film (among others like Reign Over Me) that I would really recommend for next viewing. For Kathy Bates, I co-sign Fried Green Tomatoes, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Midnight in Paris. She had a small part but so good and the movie has one of the best original screenplays.

I love her turn as Dorothy in Return To Oz so much more than The Wizard Of Oz. Plus she was in two very entertaining episodes on Celebrity Ghost Stories...

Seems like G&S didn’t recognize Bobby’s gf was the nazi gf in American History X.

Now its time to watch The Longest Yard

Ph4ZeD

I just can't watch anything with Adam Sandler in ><

Beddoe

If you choose to watch 'The Longest Yard' I hope you'll start with the 1974 original. Also, 'Beddoe' rhymes with 'meadow'.
