Oh man, whata week

MotoDork

Personally, I would rather you watch the next generation in the same format and manner as we watched originally. And of course, I feel the same way about the original Star Wars films.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Looking forward to Dark City and avoiding all meals ahead of The Substance that day haha. Great week of movies and TV right there 🤙🏻 love some TNG

ScottishSammo

Great lineup again. The substance is great but Dark city is actually one I've wanted to watch for years and never got round to it. Can't wait 😁

Tim T—

The 6th of Junly!

FrancescoTakesItEasy

Awesome! Haven't revisited The Substance since the theater. Now I can break in the 4K disc. Also, perfect timing: Arrow's 4K of Dark City arrived just last week.

Stefan Daniw

Hope you guys will still react to Hannibal ass well

Helly R

If you watch the theatrical cut of Dark City, mute the first 90 seconds (until you see a pocket watch). There's a voiceover with massive spoilers.

Ron

I just want to second the recommendation for the director's cut (111 min) of Dark City over the theatrical cut (100 min). The biggest reason is that the opening narration was removed. The studio insisted on adding it to avoid confusing audiences (reminiscent of what happened to Blade Runner).

Luna Seydoux

I have been wanting Dark City forever.

robodong

i have a feeling a lot of you guys are forgetting that by the time a movie is on these announcements, theyve already watched it. theyve said before they watch a movie like a week or two before theyre on patreon so theres time for copyright re-edits. so when youre telling them "make sure to watch this version", its already too late. luckily with dark city it appears (in a reply below), they did the DC.

Scott CineRam

YES Dark City AWESOME Can't wait!

overdev

Dark City, really nice :D

jay

They said they watched the director’s cut ☺️

jay

Lol

robodong

? am i wrong?

Tom Hess

Yes! Dark City! Junly is going to be my favourite month.

Josip Buretić

Not my week but hey you win some you lose some 😁

Michael M.

Very little has changed effects-wise in the TNG remaster, only higher Res and it's worth it. Also once you watch SD stuff, the differences in frame rates between NTSC/PAL regions is going to make synching a nightmare for some of us. So thank God for the uncovered versions. May they still be around when DS9 drops.

Eddy V Ruiz II

Soooo happy Dark City is getting a shot

s0rd3z

I haven't seen Dark City in forever. Looking forward to that. The City Of Lost Children came out around this time and is also pretty great IMO. Jean-Pierre Jeunet film, has a lot of the same cast from Amelie and his Alien movie.

Max Carter

Yesss was hoping Dark City would come up soon with how close that poll was. This is a good week, very interested to see what you guys think of The Substance too. One of my favourite films of the last year Would love to see Spotlight back on a poll soon, still think it's an incredible movie that you guys would like even though the subject matter is heavy. Actually speaking of great movies ending in light, Moonlight is also a great watch

KyloJames

Yesss!!! What a fantastic lineup! So pumped. Thanks guys

Thomas Yanez

I've tried refreshing multiple times, but I just get a broken image for this post. :( Edit : Nevermind, I see it's happening for other people I follow on Patreon, too.

PIG

“He can Tune!”

PIG

I never realized they came out in the same time. They really do compliment each other.

Zinphad

Indeed, many do not react well to Hannibal ass ;)

PIG

Nearly all the reactors that have seen Dark City were kind of meh about it, which I find fascinating. I look forward to binge’s honest option, which I know they’ll give.

s0rd3z

I agree, I actually confuse them sometimes. I think Lost City was 95 & Dark City was 96?

Major Peril

Yes! The Substance rolling into Dark City. In Junly no less, my favorite time of year!

Tyler Foster

Yes, that's correct for CoLC, but Dark City was 1998. CoLC is a great movie; would love to see it on the channel.

Tyler Foster

No, you're correct. From what can be gleaned from the reactions, they are normally anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks ahead, although it depends on the movie; the poll winners can't be as far ahead as the others.

YukoValis

Thank you for watching the directors cut of dark city. The theatrical cut spoils everything in the opening.

YukoValis

Or we didn't know in the first place that they do this.

PIG

That's what I'm most of all excited for too.

robodong

theyve definitley said this multiple times but its possible you missed it. however if you look at all their patreon posts from the moment they are available on here. theyre always like 5 or 7 or 9 days old. so that means they were recorded at least that long ago.

maikeru

I‘m very excited, yes.

maikeru

They‘ll like it.

maikeru

I bet folks who haven‘t seen the movie don‘t know that most ppl who wrote "yes" in their comments regarding the movie, have done it for a reason :P

sarCC

An almost perfect week! (Bloodlines disappointed me. One of the two sequels I was excited to see that really left me underwhelmed. The new Mission: Impossible was the other. Luckily, I saw Bring Her Back and Ballerina soon after and they restored my faith in Hollywood. [Followed by The Life Of Chuck and M3GAN 2.0... so many unexpectedly great movies this year!])

Dominique Cloet

I’m gonna start lobying for Bowfinger. It’s a criminally underrated movie. One of Eddy Murphy’s best performances imo

BoredLittleLady

I haven’t seen the new final destination movie. I’m excited.

Dan

Yes TNG!! Can't wait till you get to the good stuff, like Measure of a Man ❤️

Donna Castellano

I need to watch your previous FD reactions. I enjoyed Bloodlines and have rewatched it with 3 different reactors already. Looking forward to more TNG too.

Mike FromOz

There once was a man from Dark City Who thought the town not so pretty "I no longer want to be stuck in this place I will change this cities unfamiliar face But will only do so in the month of Jun-ly!"

Gratch... just Gratch

I haven't seen any of those other movies yet but Life of Chuck was great. I'll have to get off my butt and go see them.

BzzBzzBzzBzzBzz

Yeah!! Dark City!!! Please tell me you are watching the director's cut. If not then you need to skip the first few minutes until you get past the studio ruining the film.

Dee Aitch

I just can't muster enough energy to care if the effects are 80s CGI or 00s (?) CGI. I'm glad they did TOS with the actual physical modeled ships, but I honestly don't care about TNG.

Dee Aitch

After watching the pilot episode, I was really shocked how TNG doesn't really stand up to the test of time like ST did. Just Picard yelling at the crew for an hour. I hope it gets better. Maybe we just didn't know what good TV was back then so it seemed like a good show?

Dee Aitch

Here's a secret: they always (almost always?) do the top two vote getters in a poll.

Scott CineRam

And that reason is...they like the movie?

Max Carter

That's not a secret I'm well aware of that but the 2nd place film doesn't always come up so fast so I'm glad this one is

Dirge Girl

Agreed. Cap it with, Mask of the Phantasm?

maikeru

Yeah, but what I meant is, some folks in the movie use the word "yes" or "..yes?" more often and in a way that is unusual. You‘ll find out why.

Dazzler & Em

can't wait to see the reaction to the Substance. Buckle up its going to be a bumpy ride😂🤣🤣

David Caine

HELL YES! Dark City !!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEAASEE if it isn't too late already, I hope it's Dark City: Director's Cut. It's the only version to watch the first time, the theatrical version is cut in a very interesting way, but studio interference ruins it in the end, or rather, the beginning. Your friends at Maplenuts React have already reacted to it, were mindblown by it, they loved it.

Robert Finlay

Are you doing more Bond at some point?

LadyFinger

The Substance is going to be so funny lol

WalrusWallace

Final Destination and the Substance! Looking forward to next week :D

Allan

There was a trailer for City of Lost Children on the Dark City DVD I had back then, one of the first DVDs I ever bought. That was some good cross promotion, definitely piqued my interest after how much I loved Dark City.

Logan Kerlee

I'm looking forward to The Substance reaction! I recently watched the movie after coming across it randomly - I enjoyed it. It creeped me the hell out but I enjoyed the watch. I hope that they do as well. :)

howtocookazombie (Stan)

YES! Very excited for Dark City! Another nice movie is "The Thirteenth Floor".

Kelly Pickard

For future consideration… Movies: - Waking Ned Devine (1998) - The Devil Wears Prada (2006) - Hook (1991) - The Birdcage (1996) - Margin Call (2011) - Legend (1985) - The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert (1994) - The King's Speech (2010) - Flash Gordon (1980) - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023) - City Slickers (1991) TV: - Andor - Batman: The Animated Series - Disney's Gargoyles - Barry (Max)

rictus grin

fingers crossed they went with the directors cut of dark city

Lionbarber

Waking Ned Divine is a masterpiece.

Adam

I just realized you guys haven't reacted to Last of the Mohicans, yet. Gotta add that to the list

trey

July 6th 🔥

fwfwfwfwf wfwfw

im sooooo itching for that next STNG reaction :-D, wednesday istn here fast enough :-)

fwfwfwfwf wfwfw

though i wasnt a fan of pitch black. i loooooved riddick. I hated the look of the necro mongers but george and simone were absolutly thrilled with them. i love mystery of life where some how the same thing can inspire completely different reactions

fwfwfwfwf wfwfw

hmmm i swear i was typing in the patreon chat for chonicles of riddick lol

PIG

“No one ever listens to me.”

David Caine

"You are a fastidious man, driven. Consumed by details. I would say your life is rather lonely."

David Caine

Only one channel that I saw, and I tried all the ones that have reacted to it and are still availble, was meh to it. The rest were MINDBLOWN by it, a couple truly, truly loved it and wanted to see more like it and more of it, others were surprised they hadn't heard about it before.

Major Peril

Yes! Highly underrated. The Thirteenth Floor was the Matrix before there was The Matrix.

YukoValis

from what I heard they already watched it since they do things a week ahead and yes it was the directors cut.

PIG

lol Couldn’t help hearing Sutherland from the writing.

PIG

I’ve seen only a hand full of movies in the last few years, no time, and The Substance was my favorite. Such fun. Such disturbing fun.

Logan Kerlee

lol, that's a very accurate way of putting it!

PIG

Bravo!
