Truth

We need Phone Booth (2002) on a poll

Ali D

Ahhh ‘Some Like It Hot’ for sure!

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Requiem! The soundtrack is immaculate as is Ellen Burstyn. Weekend at Bernies tho… haha

darkmoobs

Some good choices, but I hope End of Watch or Annihilation wins.

Jordy's_Here!

Damn….gonna give me Uncut Gems, Weekend At Bernie’s, Some Like It Hot, AND Annihilation, 4 of my favorite movies, all in one poll??? 😍😍😍😭

ShōNuff3K

Ugh! I want Annihilation, but Some Like it Hot 👍🏾 is also good

Tori Loomis

some like it hot and annihilation are two of my all time favorites and they couldn’t be more different. happy to see them on a poll.

Jakob1978

Some great classics…would love to see more old films reacted to….sadly I seem to be in the minority. Still, I voted for Some Like it Hot, which is a true great of the cinema

Ciarra Jade

It’s been ages since I seen Weekend at Bernie’s, I doubt it wins the poll but I really hope u guys watch it at some point 😅🙏

Jimmy Olofsson

Out of the options I went with Uncut Gems. Some solid choices though!

Luca Kelly

First time in years I’ve picked all of them.. which kinda leaves my vote pointless but oh well lol, all fantastic choices

Twiska Brand

Personally I don't like requiem as I think Trainspotting is a more realistic depiction of addiction and not wanting to get into spoilers, I think requiem is too over the top.

Polecat21

a random one I think George would particularly like - The Invention of Lying.

AdmiralZhou

Would love to see Prisoners on the next poll. Another incredible movie with Jake Gyllenhaal

Kevin Ehle

Would love to get 'Wind River' back on these polls. One of my 2010s faves. The 2 leads in this movie are also 2 of my faves.

Jef Etters

Uncut Gems is an incredible experience. One I don’t care to repeat, but so well done I’m happy I went through it.

Jean-Dominic Lapointe

I’ve seen the second one a lot more than the first one, but it’s still fun to rediscover

China Andronicus

Some Like it Hot is a masterpiece of classic cinema and comedy, and it will be a crime if it doesn’t win this poll.

Mike FromOz

Directed by the same director of "Rambo" and the cult Australian classic "Wake in Fright" (now out on 4k bluray). He has an eclectic directing career.

Hans Olav Sletnes

Some random suggestions: Ed Wood Jacob's Ladder Man On The Moon One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest

Mike FromOz

Some like it hot on the Bridge on the River Kwai is my pick, we're gonna smush 'em together! Neither seems likely to win, but they are such fantastic movies.

Dirge Girl

In the Mouth of Madness (1994) [Random] Ravenous (1999) [Random] Nope (2022) [Random] The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai... (1984) [Rnadom] The 'Burbs (1989) [Rondam] Event Horizon (1997) [Ramdon] Grosse Pointe Blank (1997) [Rdmaon]

Mike FromOz

'In the Mouth of Madness' is so overlooked, but I love it so much. 'Ravenous' is just flat out amazing.

Michael Bauer

"Annihilation" is such an underrated meditation on a tragic aspect of the human condition (trying not to give too much away) - would be great to have it on the channel! "Some Like It Hot" - you can pretty much never go wrong with Billy Wilder! "The Bridge on the River Kwai" - ... nor with David Lean 🙂

Yaron Assa

Annihilation is unique and beautiful. Both abstract and very concrete at the same time.

Scott CineRam

Very pleased that Nat and company are in the lead!

Jacob King

Ed Wood would be a great reaction

GoodManTheDan

In the spirit of random favourites of mine that haven’t been done…. Fallen Magruber Inside Man Oblivion Grosse Pointe Blank Wedding Singer 3 Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri Anything Baz Luhrman The Man From Uncle Event Horizon

Krash Koi

Days of Thunder (1990) Big Trouble (2002) RocknRolla (2008) For your consideration.

Roddy Hutchinson

The Right Stuff, The Dirty Dozen, Rio Bravo, Kelly's Heroes

Alex Laime

Big Trouble (2002) RocknRolla (2008)

Alex Laime

Agreed. It was so good. Disappointed its last in the voting, oh well

Chris Graham

I used to watch Weekend at Bernies all the time, loved that movie

Raymond DeGraw

Love your reactions... Looking forward to these someday... 1. The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) 2. R.E.D. 3. Secondhand Lions 4. Weird Science 5. The Patriot

Random Nevermind

Two movies for the next random poll please. Thomas Crown Affair (1999) Brave (2012)

Charles Gaba

“Requiem?” Holy crap you’d be incredibly brave to not just watch that but to actually post the reaction.

Robinson vs. Parkinson's

Since it looks like this week will go to a pretty good Alex Garland film, I'm going to recommend his latest film, WARFARE. It's co-written/directed by Ray Mendoza, one of the Navy Seals who was actually there during the mission that the story refers to. It is hyper-realistic, with incredible sound design. In the theater, we could hear the crack or whistle of incoming or outgoing rounds. The best part is that theere isn't really an "Hollywood" influence in the film. No soundtrack or heroic/inspiring score, only the story as it is remembered by Ray and his teammates. I really can't recommend it enough, even though I don't see it doing much better than End of Watch (amazing film) did on this poll, lol. Oh well, I make my recommendations based on my love for a film, not whther it will win or not. Either way, you guys are still great.

Michael Johnson

Requiem is a movie you only watch once and never ever forget..... and that's not necessarily a good thing. I voted for Annihilation.

Ethan Holgate

Freakin love uncut gems and weekend at bernies

Brandon

When you find yourself checking nearly every box...

Amelie W

Ah, Annihilation. I still have two books in that series left to read to maybe hopefully figure out what it's about. It challenges the brain and the heart.

Ketzalborne

I hope Annihilation wins! Loved it so much

CT

Uncut Gems. Be ready for 2 hours of Adam Sandler yelling obnoxiously.

nossieboy

Weekend at Bernie’s is such a dumb fun classic. LFG.

Philipp Roensch

This IS a random list indee, but a welcome one! For a long list of reactions, I only want to add Persepolis today.

The Gunslinger

You should check out Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

Xavier Casanova

Hopefully Annihilation wins this because I think it's the one they'll like the most, but the physical comedy in Weekend at Bernie's is incredible. I think they'd like that one, as well.

Ronny Boss

I was just thinking about End of Watch. That's one of my favorite Gyllenhaal films.

Peter Dillard

Some Like It Hot has classic stars and is hysterical

beecroft adams

Movies to watch. Three Kings. Falling Down. Hell or High Water.

beecroft adams

Tv Shows to watch. Dept Q. Andor. Haunting of Bly Manor.

Vellu

Hoping this recommendation would one day gain enough traction: Ed Wood (Tim Burton 1994; Johnny Depp, Martin Landau, Bill Murray, Sarah Jessica Parker) Wholesome docudrama about Edward Davis Wood Jr, the director of "Plan 9 from Outer Space".

Zinphad

If they watch Requiem, they'll have to then watch House of Sand and Fog to complete the Jennifer Connelly on a Pier trilogy.

jmundt33a

She’s Out of My League, The Intern, Lucky Number Slevin. Have they done While You Were Sleeping yet? Premonition as a Bullock film with Julian McMahon in it. Have they done the other Myers films, What Women Want? The Holiday? (Pretty sure they did The Holiday) The Whole Nine Yards is excellent.

Ira K.

Oh I loved Uncut Gems! I remember liking Annihilation a lot but I haven't rewatched it since so it would be cool to rewatch with you.

Dechevalier

What Dreams May Come (Robin Williams) Falling Down (Michael Douglas) Three Kings (George Clooney) The Patriot (Mel Gibson) The Count of Monte Cristo (Henry Cavill)

Warmachine1228

Still waiting on Long Kiss Goodnight and R.E.D.

Anders Sandum

Movie recommendations: The Mission(1986) The Last of the Mohicans(1992) Quiz Show(1994) Cold Comfort Farm(1995) Hackers(1995) Rob Roy(1995) Beautiful Girls(1996) Event Horizon(1997) Dangerous Beauty(1998) Stigmata(1999) Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo(1999) Almost Famous(2000) The Royal Tenenbaums(2001) Spy Game(2001) Joe Dirt(2001) Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back(2001) The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou(2004) Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy(2011)

Ken Schneyer

Some Like It Hot is one of the great comedies & a surprisingly perceptive film about gender, not to mention one of Jack Lemon’s and Marilyn Monroe’s best performances.

Dakota

I recommend Sherlock Holmes by Guy Ritchie, and Noises Off.

Bo Dan Petersen

Movie Recommendations: Baseketball 1998- made by the creators of South Park Over the hedge. 2006 Hoodwinked- 2005 Ice age-2002

FranciscoGios

This Sci-fi Annihilation will probably intrigued you its an 8 out 10 for me.

Rollo Thomasi

Requiem…woof. Once was enough for me. Can’t fault anyone for voting for it, but just can’t join you on that ride.

Adam

I second Last of the Mohicans and Hackers

Paul Mix

Falling Down is fantastic, and even more relevant today.

Paul Mix

The tonal whiplash from viewing those back-to-back would certainly be interesting. :D

Adam

Recommendation So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993) - A Mike Myers comedy

Paul Mix

Just saw Warfare last weekend, and agree it was excellent. Sadly it's an A24 release, so probably won't be on the channel anytime soon.

Tay Schumaker

Weekend at Bernie’s and Requiem for a Dream being in the same poll is killing me

joejud1017

Good random movies poll. Here are suggestions put on a poll or to watch if you're curious. Glory - Seen on the poll a few times and I think 2nd place The Secret Life of Walter Mitty - Comedy/Adventure The Butterfly Effect - Thriller/SciFi Boyz n the Hood - Coming-of-Age/Drama The Way Way Back - Coming-of-Age/Comedy The Edge of Seventeen - Coming-of-Age/Comedy Dinner for Schmucks - Comedy The Internship - Comedy Lucy - Thriller/SciFi Inside Man - Thriller/Crime Enemy of State - Action/Thriller Crimson Tide - Action/Thriller

Jeb Manning

This is a pretty good list. There are definitely some other movies I would love to see on a poll in the future. They would be so fun: -Dracula (1931) -Frankenstein (1931) -White Zombie (1932) -King Kong (1933) -The Wolf Man (1941) -House on Haunted Hill (1959) -The Last Man on Earth (1964) -Yellow Submarine (1968) -Harold and Maude (1971) -Dawn of the Dead (1978) -Time Bandits (1981) -The Dark Crystal (1982) -Creepshow (1982) -The Return of the Living Dead (1985) -Re-Animator (1985) -Innerspace (1987) -Ernest Goes to Camp (1987) -Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) -Hellraiser (1987) -The Fisher King (1991) -Waiting... Paul Mix

My obligatory +1 for Jacob's Ladder!

rictus grin

thats why i voted for it :)

TGrimace

Ha. I was just thinking "What is Bridge on the River Kwai doing on a poll with Weekend at Bernies"

Tay Schumaker

I know it’s a random poll, but think of that double feature

rictus grin

suggestion for a future list The Devils (1971) one of the all time great British movies. sadly not seen often because the US company that owns the rights tries to forget it exists as they are squeamish about movies that deal with religion and politics

Vengeance

I just recently read Annihilation. Have not seen the movie yet, so I may be watching right along side.

China Andronicus

Noises Off is ridiculously good! I never meet anyone who knows it! Hilarious, and an amazing cast!

Olli

+1 for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy The BBC miniseries from the 70s is superb too. Not something I would expect G&S to watch but you - yes, you reading this - should consider it. It's on Youtube.

s0rd3z

Weekend at Bernie's is wild and such a product of it's time lol

Paul Mix

My random recommendations: - Platoon (1986) - Boyz n the Hood (1991) - Thelma & Louise (1991) - Do the Right Thing (1989) - Midnight Run (1988) - Jacob's Ladder (1990) - Falling Down (1993) - Deep Impact (1998) - Mulholland Drive (2001) - Mission to Mars (2000) - New Jack City (1991) - Cube (1997)

Max Carter

Well damn you can't really go wrong with any of these. Banging list

John

I strongly support Glory, Inside Man, Enemy of State, Crimson Tide, Boyz n the Hood, Dinner for Schmucks, Lucy. Though the list is great, generally. I would also add In the Heat of the Night (1967), Guess who's coming to Dinner (1967), Malcolm X, Pelican Brief, The 13th Warrior

John

I think it is a tremendous movie and would recommend everyone see it once, but I don't know if I can see it a second time

John

This is a nice list. I would recommend Almost Famous, The Royal Tenenbaums, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and Spy Game. I would also suggest Rushmore

John

Those are two great movies

John

I think The Whole Nine Yards if probably Matthew Perry's best movie performance. She's out of my league and Lucky number Slevin are fun

Ben Stevens

Incredibly disappointed by Requiem's showing so far. It is a tough movie to watch, but given how much they liked Black Swan, I would've thought more patrons would be on the Aronofsky train :(

Jonathan Eaton

How about some Philip Seymour Hoffman movies? Love Liza (2002), Owning Mahowny (2003), Pirate Radio (aka The Boat That Rocked 2009), Synecdoche, New York (2008), Magnolia (1999)

John

I agree with the Count of Monte Cristo (2002), RED, and Weird Science. I would add the French Language version of the Count of Monte Cristo (2024) as a possible double feature similar to Road House and Nosferatu

John

Days of Thunder is fun

John

Fallen and Inside Man are great

John

Nope is a great movie

Spacedone

And that's why I voted for everything else...

MPH

Surprised that the worst movie is winning by so much. Oh well. Hopefully, y'all get to Requiem and Uncut Gems some day.

Spacedone

It'll never get the votes to win but it's got mine.

robodong

ah yes, because movies and art are entirely objective things. 🙄 it cant possibly be that other people like something you dont. you are the arbiter of taste.

Jeromy M

Sheeesh, cool list. Hope end of watch gets a viewing one day in the future.

Emily G

Moulin Rouge (2001) Practical Magic (1998) The Patriot (2000) Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) Ever After (1998) The Descendants (2011) Memoirs of a Geisha (2005)

MPH

Calm down. I am allowed not to like a movie. That's how subjectivety works. I wasn't attacking anyone. Just stating an opinion.

robodong

you know, just cuase you quickly changed the comment, doesnt mean the original one with the insults werent already emailed to me as a "reply" right? lol. reported.

Mubiki

One movie I have not seen ANYONE react to is "The Fighter". It's kind of odd to me. Great cast with THREE best supporting actor nominations, including Christian Bale's first win, and nobody remembers that movie even exists.

Kevin

Prisoners!

jay

Enemy as well

Emily G

Some like it hot is so good. It’s a bummer it’s losing.

jay

Definitely excited to (hopefully) see George’s reaction to *that* line 😂

jay

Dude, Jay and Silent Bob all the way! I’m so surprised they still haven’t done it!! It was the first View Askew film I saw which is maybe why I’m so biased towards it, but it’s definitely my favorite I’ve seen so far! Although I still haven’t seen like half of them 🤣 And 1000% LIFE AQUATIC! I’ve recommended nearly every Wes Anderson film on here lmao, but I think that one has one of my favorite soundtracks EVER and definitely my favorite in a Wes Anderson movie. Just such a perfect movie and one of my favorite Bill Murray characters.

adv97

Yeah looks like they’ll never get to requiem for a dream at this rate.

jay

Oof, I haven’t read it but, the one complaint I heard from people is that it’s a huge letdown from the novel, but people who haven’t read it tend to love it

E-You

Me as well, good movie but... yeah.

jay

Not sure if I’ve recommended these, so here it goes: Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) - Comedy/Musical starring John C. Reilly Hot Rod (2007) - Dramady starring Andy Samberg Blow Out (1981) - Thriller/Mystery starring John Travolta We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011) - Psychological… “Thriller”? “Mystery”? Shit, I don’t even know lol, but it’s dark, starring Tilda Swinton (edit: 5 seconds later and can’t believe I couldn’t come up with the word “drama” 😂)

Stately, Plump Buck Mulligan

Since the topic is "random," here are some of my random favorites I'd love to see reactions to someday: Paths of Glory (1957) The Conformist (1970) Ikiru (1952) Network (1976) Miller's Crossing (1990) Umberto D (1952) Bringing Out the Dead (1999)

E-You

Weekend! "A little brown-nosing, a little ass-kissing, work our way up that corporate ladder?" WHY can't you be a lazy shit like I am?"

Dechevalier

Absolutely! It just gets more and more applicable.

elias rinis

Do King Kong 2005, it's a Peter Jackson fever dream

Shawnie

I've been here for years... I think I can say with confidence that both Simone and George would LOVE 1999's October Sky. Heartwarming True Story with a super young Jake Gyllenhaal. Let's make this happen!

Angzarr

The Spanish Prisoner

Angzarr

I’m sad they didn’t do Ed Wood as a double feature with Plan 9

Stefan Daniw

Please react to “A Million Ways to Die in the West”

@Foodmancing

Random? How about Chinatown and Attack the Block?

ktown64

A few suggestions: • Ladyhawke (1985) • Dragonheart (1996) • Electric Dreams (1984) • A Simple Plan (1998) • The Artist (2011) • Wild Things (1998) • The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) • The African Queen (1951)

Onikaze

thank you. suggested Miller's Crossing, along with other Cohen Bros movies like The Hudsucker Proxy, when I first joined. Eventually gave up as I felt like I was casting wishes to an empty well.

m

Love Exposure One Cut of the Dead

Da Big Appa

One of my fav movies. So earnest and heartfelt without becoming cheesy.

HeyHeyJK

I would literally send them $100 to just watch “Attack the Block”. Not nearly enough people know about that film and it is so fun and so great.

HeyHeyJK

I always joke that the special edition of that movie should be 30-45 minutes shorter than it is. And I also wouldn’t mind if they used AI to make Jack Black’sacting better, while they’re at it

Marcelo

"Society of the Snow" (2023) please!

HeyHeyJK

Even though “Network” came out in 1976, it is more relevant today than ever before. Absolutely in my top 10 favorite films of all time. The whole mention in that film, and it’s probably not a spoiler since almost no one has seen it and S&G will probably never get a chance to watch it, about how there are no countries or nations, there are only corporations that rule everything was so prescient that it’s shocking.

Raymond DeGraw

I feel the same way about some movies...like "Secondhand Lions". A great all-around movie that will never win a poll.

Raymond DeGraw

A lot of very good movies on your list.

Hans Olav Sletnes

Never seen Attack the Block, but +1 for Chinatown

sarCC

I often think it's one of Wilder's lesser works...but then I'll rewatch it and go, "nah, it's the best."

Maarten Martens

Interesting to see that both old and new movies do well in polls. This tells me the age spectrum is quite broad, which is quite healthy for a channel imo. I wish End of Watch would score higher, since they loved Nightcrawler and were interested to see Jake Gyllenhaal in a police setting. End of Watch is fricking amazing!

sarCC

Here's a random film suggestion: Beyond The Infinite Two Minutes.

John

A random movie, I would like to recommend for a future poll is Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon (1985)

John

October Sky is a really enjoyable movie

sarCC

And it's the one film on here that isn't a bummer!

@Foodmancing

So many movies I love will never ever win a poll.

Adam

Phil Hartman has maybe the funniest cameo I've seen. It also makes me very nostalgic for 90s era San Francisco.

Michael L.

These are all cool choices, but it's Annihilation for me. One of the best sci-fi films of the century so far.

fromage

I appreciate that two cosmic horror films are leading this poll.

Darin Foat

Wow. That is random.

Scribbles_the_mouse

I believe I heard them both mention that they haven't watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Kyle B

Weekend at Bernie's is one of those movies where if you hear the premise, you think you are being pranked because that couldn't possibly have been made.

Emily G

Thank you, friend 😊

Max Krause

So with Uncut Gems you've added an A24 movie to the poll. Does that mean we'll get Midsommar soon since you were about to do it when A24 started acting up?

24fps_

Some Like It Hot is so much fun!

Wicked Wookie

"Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" doesn't have any reason to be so funny and so damn good musically, but it is. They way is spoof s all of the other musical biographies is ridiculous. They should definitely watch it!

Wicked Wookie

This random list is not working for me. Here's some better random suggestions: "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" "Primer" "The Man from Earth" "Time Trap" and from the Broken Lizard Troupe: "Beerfest", Club Dread", and "Slammin Salmon".

Mike FromOz

I, and others, probably have recommended this before, but I know you'd both love "Get Shorty". Brilliant cast, great acting, and a really tight script. Well worth the watch!

Seth's Coffee Cup Ambush

Great list! Some Like It Hot would be great and I wish it was doing better. I’m definitely excited to see Annhilation. Here are some suggestions that are not particularly random, but more or less inspired by having just watched The Substance and anticipating Brazil and probably Annihilation. In the Mouth of Madness (1994, John Carpenter) Videodrome (1983, David Cronenberg) Eraserhead (1977, David Lynch) The Beyond (1981, Lucio Fulci) Titane (2021, Julia Ducournau) Possession (1981, Andrzej Żuławski) Antiviral (2012, Brandon Cronenberg) Dead Ringers (1988, David Cronenberg) Death Becomes Her (1992, Robert Zemeckis) Also looking forward to James Bond and hopefully the Dollars trilogy continuing on.

Kelly Pickard

For future consideration… Movies: - Waking Ned Devine (1998) - The Devil Wears Prada (2006) - Hook (1991) - The Birdcage (1996) - Margin Call (2011) - Legend (1985) - The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert (1994) - The King's Speech (2010) - Flash Gordon (1980) - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023) - City Slickers (1991) TV: - Andor - Batman: The Animated Series - Disney's Gargoyles - Barry (Max)

BellaBlue

There are 3 I'd be happy w on this poll and one of them is winning..so possibly the rare time my opinion vibes w the crowd

Kyle Style

PLEASEEEE watch end of watch. One of my favs!

Life in the cave of Garanoga

I REALLY want Simone to react to Requiem but I voted for Some Like it Hot because you two know film and how thing work better than most reactors I watch, and I would love to see you two more 1930's-60's stuff. I always loved how you could see the sort of transition from Stage production to Film. Like a lot of the visual ques performers would do for the audience that aren't really necessary in film, but they were so damn good it still translated well. My favorite example is Yul Brynner in The Ten Commandments there's a scene where he dramatically lays his head down on his arm, which is a ques for the audience to shift attention to Mosses as he enters the scene. Completely uneccessary and almost cheesy, but he is just so good it works and doesn't even really get noticed.

BellaBlue

Requests for your consideration: Category: Movies I seem to like better than most - Knock At The Cabin (2023) Loved the novel...good adaption even if a major change (I have learned to separate novel from film so I don't go nuts) - Theater Camp (2023) - Bottoms (2023) - Thoroughbreds (2017) - Strange Darling (2023) - Junebug (2005) - Shattered Glass (2003) - Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2017)a - A Ghost Story (2017)

Matthew Blackwood

BARRY! Omg they would love Barry after Better Call Saul!

Matthew Blackwood

A SIMPLE PLAN is a must for all the Fargo-loving sickos!

XeonAlpha

That movie is so much better with a little *ahem* herbal side dishes. 🤣 I went and saw with friends and I think everyone in the theater was imbibing…

Jinyatta

Canadian Bacon!

Benjamin-Ian Astley-schaack

Hot Rod is such a fantastic comedy, I can't believe how few reactions there have been to it.

Blqbrd

God please vote Annihilation 🙏🏾 If it doesn’t win this time I’m making 30 accounts next time it’s on a poll

jay

+1!!!

jay

Primer all the way! Such a mind fuck, also “Triangle”

Kevin

My suggestion is an entry to the Bud Spender and Terence Hill movies. Either: They Call me Trinity (1970) with its sequel Trinity is still my name (1971) Or Watch Out, We're Mad (1974)

ScottishSammo

Would you consider any UK shows for your next TV section, most don't have a lot of episodes. My suggestions would be - Bottom Mr Bean Fawlty towers Black books The young ones The Inbetweeners Father ted And personally as a Scotsman I would love to see you react to Still Game, but you may need subtitles 🤣

Zoran24

No way we're doing end of watch like this. Or uncut gems. We'll get em next time.

Nathan

Australian film Shine (1996). Geofrey Rush won the academy award for best actor, before he was a pirate.

John

I would add Luther and Sherlock

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Fun list, I’m looking forward to pretty much all of these. For the following suggestions I thought it’d be fun to make a list of movies with qualities that could put them in the category of “metafiction”: “The Artist” (2011) “Being John Malkovich” “Sunset Boulevard” “Millennium Actress” “Funny Games” (1997), (2007) “Birdman or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance”

John Every

Grandma's Boy (2006)

Robinson vs. Parkinson's

Gawdammit! I keep forgetting about the A25 shit. Maybe there's still hope because I see Annihilation on the poll this week and that's A24. Fingers crossed.

Farbod

End of Watch is an underrated gem.

Chris Kelley

I thought they weren’t going to do A24 movies anymore. Did they get that worked out?

PureGonzo

Magnolia is a must watch

PrimitiveCruisingArtist

I'm a 60s baby, and growing up I always heard that Some Like it Hot is the best comedy of all time. Eventually I watched it as an adult. An argument can definitely be made for that claim. You also get to see what all the hubbub is about for Marilyn Monroe (and Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon too). Some great talents back then. Anyway...

Pick em all

HanBrolo

Please consider adding The Gentlemen to future polls. It’s a Guy Ritchie film with a great cast and it’s got a lot of elements that I think you’d both enjoy based off past reviews!

Jeremy S

So many good ones on this list.

Lachlan Caldwell

There's also a TV series based on The Gentlemen, not exactly a sequel. It sort of runs parallel, kind of. Look, I'm not explaining it very well, but the TV series is worth watching, as is the movie.

Lachlan Caldwell

Movie recommendations: Flight of the Navigator. Sneakers. The Long Kiss Goodnight. TV Show recommendations: The Newsroom. The Magicians.

Daniasaurus

Uncut Gems is such a good movie. I watched it like four times in the theaters!

Caroline

To add to the ever growing list of movies: Frantic (1988) Fatal Attraction (1987) Unfaithful (2002) A Perfect Murder (1998) The Cell (2000) Wild Things (1998) Breakdown (1996) Layer Cake (2005) Copycat (1995) The Rocketeer (1991) The Pelican Brief (1993) The Jackal (1997) Patriot Games (1995) Pale Rider (1985) Escape from Alcatraz (1978) Ronin (1998) Bullitt (1968) Mr. Majestyk (1974) The Edge (1997) Sleeping with the Enemy (1991) Dirty Harry movies

Wormtongue

The Fall (2006) by Tarsem Singh. One of the best acting performances by a child. And one of the most visually stunning movies I've ever seen... filmed on some of the worlds most stunning locations... and with a minimal amount of cgi.

warcrimes

Annihilation is legit beautiful and a gem.

E G

Damn Uncut Gems finally gets onto a poll and it has to go against annihilation. Maybe next time.

PureGonzo

I have to assume it has something to do with the fact that it’s listed as being “only new to Simone,” because it being in last place is insane.

Simon Pegged Me

Speaking of random, I hope you'll react to the movie Doubt (2008) at some point.

Spacedone

Honestly, I'd love to see them react to Bottom S1E2 'Gas' or just about any from S3 but especially the Trick or Treat episode.

maikeru

Bound (1996), a superb thriller, quite entertaining, one of Wachowskis' gems and their first movie!

CloudseaDjinn

I would like to recommend the movie Hesher for future indie list please and thank you!

Logan Kerlee

lol, the two of those are similar yet very different from each other. :)

Logan Kerlee

I'm not familiar with that one at all. I'm always down to check something new and interesting out though! :) What's that one about?

Logan Kerlee

lmao, BUT THEY'RE CUT GEMS!! xD

Logan Kerlee

I'm totally down for a reaction for The Fall. That'd be a great watch. :)

Logan Kerlee

The movie that I'm most interested in on that long list is a childhood fave of mine - The Rocketeer. It's a classic movie that really fuels the imagination and wonder. At least that's what it did for me when I was a kiddo watching it.

Logan Kerlee

I'm all about a reaction for Flight of the Navigator! That movie's AWESOME!! lol, it's one that just brings the happy feels for me. :) Another childhood classic in my eyes. As for the TV recommendations - I'm all about either one of those. I myself haven't watched The Newsroom but I've heard amazing things and I'm interested in checking it out so I'd be happy if it won. The Magicians on the other hand is a bit dramatic but still a good watch.

Logan Kerlee

I love that film. Watched it back in high school for my Film As Literature class. We watched all sorts of amazing things in that class and Some Like it Hot was definitely a welcome point in that class. :)

David Szoke

There's only 4 things I like in that movie

maikeru

oh I know what you mean^^

QuiGon

It is indeed!

Andras Beck

I'm an eighties baby, nand I hold Some Like It Hot close to myheart. I just love Tony Curtis and Jeck Lemmon in that movie

MadmanGardens

I personally don't think Simone has done anything to deserve us putting her through Requiem. Solid, kind crowd y'all! :) lol

Ginger

I wasn't going to say it but I've never been so glad to see a film polling last. ^^ I mean, I would have just skipped it and of course they can watch what they want but yeah, that's a tough one to sit through.

Ginger

I'd love for them to watch Gremlins 2 just for one brief appearance of a certain delivery guy. :D If you know, you know. And of course another actor Simone will be familiar with

Ginger

Has anyone ever recommended the movie "Innerspace"? To this day a very impressively made Sci-Fi Action Film that somehow never got the recognition I think it deserves. Also has a couple of familiar faces in it :)

Simon Kreitner

It‘s sad that the best one is on the last place

Adam

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs would be a fun reaction. A Coen Brothers Western.

Zipper

George should watch Bridge Over the River Kwai with his Dad

Lomino

End of watch is fantastic

Logan Nelson

This would be way better that way... I second this transitioning to that series...

Logan Nelson

Vote for your favorite, but also go ahead and click on End of Watch as well... C'mon, you know you want to....

MacGuffinStuff

I've only seen a few on this poll and I guess I being a lamer by voting for the ones I've seen, so maybe the other patrons know I'm missing out, never seen Annihilation but okay, let's go. I did vote for End Of Watch because it is, according to retired LAPD cop I know (he's cool though lol) it's the most realistic to what he experienced, he grew up in South Central LA and was a cop there, always worked nights. He's got stories. I personally have had at times issues with cops, specificity a very racist cop who intentionally set me up for a crime and then put me on gang file, almost kept me from joining the Army because it came up in my background check. But I know some cops really are trying to help people in the communities they police. Oh and I voted for Uncut Gems, because it's awesome, tense, intense, Adam Sandler like you've NEVER seen him. And objectively Bridge Over The River Kwai is badass, and I love when you can watch a very old movie and see the continuity of awesomeness in STORYTELLING, that goes back into ancient times. I love it.

Weekend at Bernie’s huh? I know we’re not supposed to Cine-Shame…so how about a game instead: how many instances can you name…where Weekend at Bernie’s is the example, to get an awful movie trope across? I can think of 2, right off the top of my head: in Friends…when they play the game to see who knows each other better. The question is…Rachael claims this is her favorite movie. Answer: Dangerous Liasons. Her ACTUAL favorite movie is…Weekend at Bernie’s. You see…it’s soo bad, she won’t even cop to liking it. Also…in Seinfeld. The whole Vincent vs Gene picks. When Elaine is forced to watch a “Gene” pick…who she’s already stated are trash…it’s Weekend at Bernie’s she ends up with. We see her yelling at the TV…well, that would be a spoiler, but iykyk. Then again…I’m 57; and it’s not lost on me these are Xer shows. Maybe a generation forgot to acknowledge it sucked, and it somehow found an audience again? 🤔

Christopher Carson

Honestly I feel the same way with Uncut Gems...different reasons. That film hit my anxiety so much that I had to smoke a cigarette every 15-20 minutes just to get through it. Good film, but I don't know if I can watch it again.

Matt Blanchette

The actor who played Saito literally was a HUGE matinee idol during the silent Hollywood era. Sessue Hayakawa.

Brandon Meng

Uncut Gems just for Adam Sandler like you've never seen him before, but also Punch Drunk Love fills that role even better. More dramas for future polls please! Perks of Being a Wallflower Manchester by the Sea Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Sideways The Royal Tenenbaums Cheers!

Jay S

Yes, Three Billboards is a must

M.C.G

Punch Drunk Love is fantastic

M.C.G

The Fall is stunning to look at but also has a lot of heart, great pick!

M.C.G

I love Sneakers an unreasonable amount

jmundt33a

Long Kiss Good Night and Sneakers The Newsroom feels like a flashback to a time when Hope felt like a right.

China Andronicus

I feel like you should really give classics their own polls. They always seem to get completely owned by modern films, and I can understand, but we end up missing some masterpieces. Some Like it Hot is still one of the best comedies of all time, and Bridge on the River Kwai is amazing. Billy Wilder and David Lean, two of the greatest directors of all time.

Jeff I.

I don't understand these kind of comments about Requiem or other films that are really good and also happen to be dark/heavy in their approach to certain themes or subject matter. It feels kind of infantilizing to Simone, like she's a 14 year old girl who should be protected/sheltered.

Henkan

Could be that they're delaying a release of it to youtube until copyright shenanigans have settled down.

Mike FromOz

Agreed. Give us a poll where the classics can't lose. Throw in "Night of the Hunter" and the original "Cape Fear", both starring the haunting Robert Mitchum for the list and see how it all does.

China Andronicus

Highly agreed. They’re classics for a reason. It’s a shame for them to constantly be passed over. Rebel Without a Cause, A Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, All About Eve, Chinatown, Serpico, the Lion in Winter, Dog Day Afternoon….I could ramble all day. These were my Dad’s favorites and what he raised me on, and I will forever love them best.

Mike FromOz

Man, I'd love to see them watch Hitchcock's "Vertigo". He is a heavyweight director, but holy crap, that is a masterpiece.

China Andronicus

Vertigo is weirdly lower on my Hitchcock list, though it’s considered one of his best. I love Psycho, Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, North by Northwest, and Strangers on a Train the most. Honorary Spellbound mention. That one got me good as a kid, and the Salvador Dali dream sequence scene is brilliantly done.

P S

Hope one day you guys see The Bridge on the river Kwai, it's a Lawrence of Arabia type of epic film making, also you will know where a certain whistle melody that you hear all over the place came from. Btw nice job George on the editing and all the work you do in the background.

BellaBlue

all of your requests are top notch... co-sign the 2 AS films you mentioned as well as they are the only 2 AS films I'd ever actually consider voting for..ha

lisa

Multiplicity In & Out Paddington 2 George of the Jungle (w Brendan Frasier) Big Fish Mona Lisa Smile Hot Rod

maikeru

Lethal Weapon 4

Logan Nelson

Only 8 hours to get End of Watch over the top... Lesss gooo!!! Lol

MadmanGardens

It was absolutely meant in jest, but thank you for pointing out that it can also be seen as condescending. What's your favorite reaction of theirs? :)

jmundt33a

Sometimes people want brainless fun. Sometimes people are being ironic or trolling. Sometimes people vote for the reaction more than the film. Occasionally people disagree with a vast audience and critical consensus. Tough to tell on a case by case basis.

jmundt33a

Rocketeer, Pelican Brief (if only), The Jackal, Patriot Games from that list.

Logan Kerlee

As someone that was born in '88, I'm saying that I enjoy Weekend at Bernies. It didn't get my vote this time around but I do enjoy the movie and can identify why/how many others would enjoy it as well. It's a classic of a movie, similar to say The Goonies. That's how I see it, at least.

Logan Kerlee

Wow! That's honestly very surprising. It's a movie that's frequently shown on broadcast tv! On the weekends obviously - but yeah, I remember seeing trailers for it or short snippets throughout my life on tv. It's a great watch as well - I think you'll wind up enjoying it. :)

Logan Kerlee

Many of the movies on your list I can pass on but those shows are all definitely worth seeing. I'd LOVE for them to react to Batman: The Animated Series as well as Barry most of all though.

Logan Kerlee

Really make me smile knowing that there are other Patrons who enjoy that movie! :)

Logan Kerlee

I enjoyed the movie! It's a quality watch for sure.

Logan Kerlee

I just watched the trailer for that one and it's a nope for me. xD Not because it's focused on religion but because it doesn't look like it would be entertaining for me to watch.

Logan Kerlee

Many of these I would be interested in watching while others I'm definitely not interested in watching myself or seeing a reaction for.

Logan Kerlee

I first watched that movie less than three years ago - it's a good watch for sure. :)

Logan Kerlee

Baseketball is a fun watch! I enjoyed that one. :) The others on your list are all fun but among those Basketball has my vote.

Simon Pegged Me

I saw The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) for the first time last year. I've watched it several times since then, and I hope I get a chance to watch it with the Cinebinge community. It's stunning and heartbreaking—beautifully crafted, well acted, complicated subject matter. Whenever I watch movies from that era, I'm often surprised by the themes they take on. This one had me, as the kids say, shook. (Oh, they're saying it.) I support P S 's message.

Alexander Gumprich

Hi all! I wanted to suggest "Big Fish" (2003), "Carnage" (2011) and "K-Pax" (2001). Thanks!

Bo Dan Petersen

To be honest. Baseketball is also the one i'm hoping for the most.

Logan Kerlee

I forget, did they watch Lawrence of Arabia?
