drunkemonkie .

ha number 1 lol keep up the great work guys

Ashton Lewis

Lets gooooo (except you drunkemonkie)

Old School Drew

Its a fun movie. It's based off of a limited series comic book

Ashton Lewis

Wanted is actually an Action Thriller by the way :)

Denver Gray

"I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you" is originally from The Hound of Baskerville Sherlock Holmes story from like 1900, but there's older version from the Three Musketeers stories a little earlier. Maybe Simone should check the book lol

Kickinthescience

Angelina one of them ones face wise and her mom was arguably even finer

Pendergasted

I really hope they watch Salt one day. It’s my favorite Jolie film.

Dragonhunter

I wonder if the others were only chosen as targets because they still worked for Sloan who ignored his own fate and started killing people he wanted dead.

DasBigUn

Some of these characters REALLY make you HATE them, like the Offics Boss and Chris Pratt. GOD DAMN....

Mastervodo

This is a really, really fun movie. The stunts are SO over the top, but are simply COOL! When Jolie scoops up Wesley in the Dodge Viper? Come on! The music was pretty great too! The Little Things, written and performed by Danny Elfman! (Oingo Boingo, for you old folks!) Also - really, really loved all the puns you guys did in the reaction! Even Simone got in a couple good ones! For all of her chastising George for his puns - she is so giddy when she gets a good one in! Also - when Simone guesses a plot point = gleeful, happy, squeeeee Simone.

Jayson Phillips

I still love the fact that Professor X took out Star Lord's tooth!

Nathan Jasper

Such a cool and visually amazing movie 🍿😎

L77045

Sort of the same going into this as you said George: I watched it when it came out, but don't really remember anything except: Angelina Jolie Bending Bullets "Loom of Fate" XD

JBK405

This is one of those movies where the source material is SO DIFFERENT that some people argue it's not even "based on". The one-line description is the same ("A normal man is recruited into a secret organization that his father was a member of and is trained by them"), but there is absolutely no reference at all to 'fate' or anything of the sort. The secret organization is a league of comic book supervillains that had banded together years ago and conquered the world, and either killed off all the superheroes or erased their memories so they had to live 'normal' lives. They are explicitly, self-identified EVIL and they make no pretensions at being otherwise. The main character was visually based on Eminem, and Fox was based on Halle Berry.

kayfun

Also Wesley himself is a super villain. and Mark Millar's comic character's from Kingsman, Kick-Ass, and Wanted show up in a crossover event that's considered the sequel for Wanted in "Big Game".

Carlos

Have they watched Shoot Em Up? Because my god that movie is so stupid and fun.

JBK405

Oooooh, THAT they should watch!

Carlos

The puns alone, 👌

Matthew S

Seen this a few times but enjoyed it so much more with you guys. Did make me think of shoot em up as someone else recommended in these comments. Fun movie.

Raven Blackrose

Fingers still crossed that someday, somehow, we get that Wanted/Kingsman/Kick-Ass crossover in live action.

Robert Cooper

This movie didn't do well. Not because it is bad, but I think because it was marketed as something completely different. The big thing, though, the only other thing that McAvoy had done was the Children of Dune miniseries, which he is great in. I think his holding his own with this cast is really what solidified his career. Movie may not have done great, but he doesn't seem out of place with Freeman , Jolie, Stamp.

Dan Holmes

I hope you follow this up with Shoot 'Em Up starring Clive Owen, ten times as ridiculous and ten times as fun! :)

Jonathan Eaton

For more Action/Comedy: 2 Guns (2013) Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg

Jonathan Eaton

One single word is all I really remember about that movie.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Interestingly this had a direct story sequel released as a video game the following year called “Wanted: Weapons of Fate.” The curved bullet stuff made it an enjoyable action game in its own right. Always thought this was a pretty fun movie that lives on in memes, it’s true haha.

Ari Ramirez

If I had a penny for every movie that features both Chris Pratt and The Piña Colada Song, I'd have two pennies, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.

Lycowolf

The game was a really fun rail shooter with (imo) a better story than the movie. Still have my copy for PS3

Godrick

So.. you hate the comic this is based on, but you also hate the movie for trying to change it? You just sound hard to please bro..

Jeff K.

Can I go ahead and recommend/request/suggest, as a holiday movie for December, The Holdovers? Paul Giamatti movie from a couple years ago that was nominated for a bunch of Oscars (with some wins). Such a great movie from Alexander Payne, the movie debut of Dominic Sessa (who you obviously haven't seen in anything yet but he's about to blow up), and Da'Vine Joy Randolph won Best Supporting Actress (and Paul Giamatti would have won it in just about any other year in which he wasn't going up against Cillian Murphy in Oppenheimer).

Kris

I've always been a fan of the general theory that sometimes studio have a different script floating around somewhere they want to use, and have franchise rights that are about to expire for a completely different property, and just say fuck it and mash em together

Wes Wakeman

I may be wrong but the first use of a similar line is from Hound of the Baskervilles from the early 1900s "Oh, Mr Holmes, I would love to tell you but then of course I'd have to kill you", The interaction between Dr Franklyn and Sherlock Holmes.

Wes Wakeman

Sherlock Holmes: "I didn't really ask, Dr. Franklyn, but what exactly do you do here?" Dr Franklyn:"Oh, Mr Holmes, I would love to tell you but then of course I'd have to kill you" Mr Holmes: "That would be tremendously ambitious of you"

Opti_Frog

This is the kind of absurd exaggerated action i like. Wanted is so much fun. Jumping out of a skyscraper window, flying across the entire street, firing off shots and curving bullets while screaming like a madman to a heavy metal soundtrack sets the tone perfectly for this film. Absolutely one of my favourite action beats of all time.

Patrick Evans

This movie has almost nothing to do with the comic. It is a underground group of supervillians that secretly rule the world after having defeted all of the heroes. They really only used some names and the general plot of Whestly's life before joining when his dad dies. Also, there is no loom. On another note, you guys should check out Lucky Number Sleven.

Robert Carter

You guys should watch Lucky Number Slevin. Very different tone to this but just as fun

Cody Cameron

Serious Action Movie: First Blood

TheGrimOne

I was happy to see this finally get a reaction. It's so much fun to watch. Now let's get a Boondock Saints reaction.

Stephanie Bedworth

I always thought this movie was okay. I enjoyed it when I first saw it but then never had the desire to watch it again. This same director did two movies a few years before this one, a fantasy/horror/action called Night Watch and its sequel, Day Watch. Now those were great and a lot of fun to watch.

Ken

How about a reaction to The Upside 2017, a great flick.

FranciscoGios

The Wesley Snipes Mr. Sloan scenario was pretty funny; 😆 George curves those punts like peanut butter Eh!!?

TheGrimOne

Nightwatch and Daywatch were great.

Matrim

“I know among thirsty men Angelina Jolie’s most famous scene is the slow running from Tomb Raider” Spoken like someone who never watched Gia. That was the first thing I saw her in and it was an absolutely legendary introduction.

Skyruff Creative

I always took it as The Loom of Fate is just that. It’s the same basic story used by several ancient cultures including the Greeks.

Dwight Scarn

I really enjoyed Nightwatch, but for some reason didn't like Daywatch

Ashton Lewis

Super underrated film for some reason. Would love to see a reaction to this one

Deano 42

Peapod the Pocket Squirrel! Because everybody needs a happy little friend. (And now you know that I know).

Robert Cooper

I think it's GREAT. It's not a big budget thing, but I love it. I think Atonement was the same year as this, too, which is great. Also didn't do particularly well.

Forkbeard83

That awkward moment where Pvt Miller uses Pvt Blythe as a human shield.

Eversharpe

The whole Sloan faked the names. I don't think that makes sense. I imagine that Fate wanted Sloan dead first because it foresaw him turning against the order and then as the others did more dirty work for Sloan, their names started appearing in the pattern.

M.C.G

Weirdly enough I also thought it was a flop, but apparently it did quite well. There was even talk of a sequel, though that died in development hell.

M.C.G

I've never liked Millar's comic writing (the man never saw an edge he didn't want to lord) but this movie is pretty fun. It still has some traces of Millar's afflictions, but doesn't actively hate the audience the way Millar seems to hate his readers, lol

Aridevo

Cool thing to remember: Wanted, Kingsmen, and Kick-ass take part in the same universe. There were even talks of a crossover movie at one point, but it never happened. There is a good comic book called Big Game that shows Hit-Girl (Kickass) teaming up with Eggsy (Kingsmen) to take on Wesley (Wanted) from 2023.

Tom M

Have you two seen Atonement? McAvoy and Knightly have never been hotter. It’s romantic AF. And it has two of my favs romantic trope: unrequited love and class differences. Like George, I saw this when it came out, or maybe on cable or blockbuster. All I remembered was Angelina Jolie was peak hot, and bullets curve which is extremely stupid but fun.

zak

If you guys enjoyed this i definitely hope you watch Shoot em up at some point, the action is bigger, dumber, and funner, plus you get Clive Owen who is criminally overlooked.

Pedro Pinheiro

And Paul Giamatti. Their chemistry is brilliant.

zak

Yes, Giamatti is great in that film. Perfect example of a great actor enhancing what could be a dull role.

Stephanie Bedworth

She was really good in Gia and what a sad story that was.

Stephanie Bedworth

I enjoyed Day Watch a lot, but I don't think it was as good as Night so I can certainly see where you're coming from.

Acid Membrane

the OG OG line "I could tell you but I'd have to kill you" is from the 3 Musketeers sequel (Le Vicomte de Bragelonne, 1847): "It's a state secret, and as you know that, according to the king's orders, it is under the penalty of death any one should penetrate it, I will, if you like, allow you to read it and have you shot immediately afterwards."

Dee Aitch

Haha, the weaving loom lore in the comics is very very very light. The comics are a bit of a love letter to the DC comics universe, and are best experienced if you're familiar with the Adam West Batman, the Crisis on Infinite Earths, etc. It's a weak comic story overall, but it is cute given its context.

unfuer is hard to read

Still can’t believe that this iconic meme was directed by a Russian dude

Farbod

Hackers beats them all.

Farbod

This was so much fun... Such a good reaction.

Matthew Blackwood

It was really annoying when this movie came out and the critics all lambasted how ridiculous the loom of fate idea was- but then added some version of “but what do you expect from a comic book movie?”

Happy Hanukkah

"WTF have you done lately?" Answer: completely overlooked this reaction, somehow, inexplicably. But I promise to atone by assassinating whomever my coffeepot of fate tells me to. (If you do not control your loom, it will control you.)

Huckleberry lobo

If y'all want to see Morgan Freeman in a better villain role, check out Lucky Number Slevin , also starring Sir Ben Kingsley, Lucy Liu, Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, and Stanley Stucci.
