I'm glad you guys are enjoying the show! The season is paced the way it is because each arc wasn't long enough to warrant its own season. The story itself goes at a fast pace, so the studio took the liberty of expanding it more in the show. In fact, the flashback to Tanjiro's childhood with his dad, when he fought the spider demon boy, was only like two pages in the manga, so the fact the the ufotable, the studio behind the show decided to expadn on it was really elevates those moments along the the beautiful animation

When I first watched this show I didn't fully realize that the animation styles for different movesets were just animation choice for sword fighting styles rather than magic powers. Haven't finished it, but I guess we'll see if that changes

The thing is that the mangaka is inconsistent with it so many of us just take it as though they are using powers because there are cases where their moves act like that power...One sword swipe isn't going to create a whirlwind -_-

It's common for some Japanese girl names to end in ~ko so it was a bit of fun word play to have their aliases be 炭子 sumiko (charcoal girl), 猪子 inoko (wild boar girl), and 善子 zenko (virtuous girl)

There’s some necessary suspension of disbelief for sure. Reminds me a little of air gear, kenichi, or initial d in how the characters seemed super powered even though they weren’t

Id say they definitely have super strength, its just the elemental powers that arnt happening but they ARE cutting boulders moving super sonic and who knows how sword swings would work in real life if somone with super strength was swinging them 🤷
