Today's gonna be a Aladeen day. I'm Aladeen of that. What could go Aladeen?

Simon

That thumbnail is fucking wild lol

newhastings

Anytime I see this film I just associate it with the annoying guy in my class from high school who would not stop quoting this film. No one liked him lol

newhastings

Also yea jason mantzoukas is amazing in almost everything he’s in lol

Mikebdrx

I thought the thumbnail would be more pointy.

TheFool

Missed opportunity to give Simone a beard!

David

Anyone know how different the 1:38 version is syncing. Never mind under 2 minutes its off.

mpd

Heynong man

DonkyDave

Holy thumbnail - also if you think this movie doesn't hold back, wow you need to watch Bruno

luckyopening

Ahh you are blessing us first you announce Chainsaw man and now you bring us this banger

Jean-Dominic Lapointe

When I got the notification, I thought it was gonna be The Great Dictator. Also a great movie, but not exactly in the same style

Divinerights

This is definitely a film that was released.

Twiska Brand

I think George's statement at the end about Anna Ferris being the straight man was confusing for Simone because she picked up on the fact that Zoey is meant to be absurdist left and Aladeen is meant to be absurdist right. While George mistook her as "Normal New Yorker" 🤣 Can't believe he said that, but oh well.

FWPJR.

Yes, definitely needs to happen

PureGonzo

Best. Thumbnail. Ever.

Logan McElroy

You should watch Four Lions after this

Christian Da Silva

Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber of Fleet Street is another great Sacha Baron Cohen and Johnny Depp movie you should watch.

howtocookazombie (Stan)

It's crazy that they made covers of all these famous music songs. It's so good. 😂

Chris B

So Aladeen of you to react to this. And the thumbnail is very Aladeen. Guys, really....Aladeen! (I mean it).

DasBigUn

soooo...according to Gorge, we should have an action/comedy/documetry based on Fidel Castro played by Liam Neeson...LOL

DasBigUn

Simon having the MOST needy cat ever is hilarious....as he/she ALWAYS jumps up too have "the pats" when she is recording

Jacob Colson

What the hell, Simone? For every movie you thought Chris Parnell did a voice role.... Chris Parnell plays a news anchor, but DOESN'T recognize him? Like, what?

djKENTO

Would really love to see a reaction to Sexy Beast which is maybe Ben Kingsley's best performance and of course Gandhi.

OddThomas

A better Anna Faris movie: Smiley Face

m

I can see it; with a bit of, um, acting, as it were, I could see him doing a great Castro for sure It sure would be better than what I've seen of Russell Crowe as Hermann Göring so far, although most of that judgment hinges on them having him speak German in the trailer... the kind where even English-only speakers immediately understand that they not only offered no language coaching whatsoever to the poor man, but they apparently also actively clubbed him in the head to make sure nobody would mistake him for a native speaker. Fair enough. Maybe that's my deal. I definitely enjoy SBC's movies for the hilarious writing and those language amalgamations he transforms into these fantastic Semitic conlangs; I am all for that. shame about that full-blown AIDS though edit: and while we're talking about dictators: yes George, The Interview is the Rogan/Franco movie. It's really good as far as I am concerned - truly ignorant stoner-y comedy again, but the premise is hilarious, the actors are ridiculous, and the soundtrack is bumping. Kinda got overshadowed by the controversy, which was utter nonsense back then, as is the claim that you "can't make comedy like 'this' in this day and age anymore" or whatever directions the Wayons brothers are overcorrecting into right now. The Interview is great, the things that should have raised a teensy amount of controversy didn't even register on the online armchair crowds' radars.

m

Sweeney Todd is fantastic. I wish broadway was more accessible, although I'd also just sit through a reaction of people laughing at The Book of Mormon

Raven Blackrose

This movie is a gross minstrel show enforcing jingoistic western worldviews. Sasha being a vocal Zionist now takes the film from already iffy to right wing propaganda. And "it's just satire" doesn't excuse that.

Psyclopath

He's technically not wrong.

Badsos123

This movie is an ALADEEN out of ALADEEN!!!

ArcadeAndy

I suddenly have the urge to rewatch The Good Place. I'm not sure why.

Omar Bautista

I think what Simone experience with the Flap opening is what guys experience from the shrinking guy of season 3 of the boys

Raven Blackrose

Sorry man. Know it's supposed to be fun, but I calls 'em as I sees 'em

Omar Bautista

also i guess it isn't important but I thought the Big breasted lady fight was in the movie but apparently its only in the directors cut

SbE

For a second there I thought it was The Great Dictator (1940), but then i got really disappointed. But this movie is Aladeen enough I guess

AlixFrost

I mean, one's a caricaturistic amalgamation of several dictator with severely extremist views on things, the other one is just a queer woman. So yeah, even though she might be exaggerated on some parts of her character, she's still the straight man to Aladeen's outrageousness.

AlixFrost

Kind of agree with you on that. While yeah, I can see the satire and there are parts that do work, it doesn't excuse the rest. And the whole 'but it's making fun of everyone' doesn't really work either when you're putting people trying to better the world, or just live their own lives, and people actively making it worse for everyone but themselves on the same level and laughing at them both. And the fact that a lot of problematic people absolutely love this movie speaks for itself.

blerbaberpaterb

...you know... chances are i have very much aligned views with you Raven and Alix...believing in equal rights for all race, genders and sexes...protecting the planet...etc etc...but it is very dangerous to innately believe that you by default correct and entirely on the right sight of things...which ironically is also what other sides also believe....and nearly every single atrocity done by humanity was done by people who whole heartedly believe they are in the right...more over, being correct does not equal being immune from mockery or laughter...when one takes themselves so seriously they feel jokes about them as insults, one as stray into ult-far territory of which ever political spectrum...one should be able to laugh at people who take themselves waaaay too seriously....and people who take themselves too seriously can be both people that commit atrocities and people who do saintly acts...

Lood

You should watch Brüno, one of the more underrated Sacha Baron Cohen films.

PIG

I loved it. Bruno is really underrated. The theater I watched it in was really uncomfortable and it just made me laugh harder.

AlixFrost

I would agree with you if not for the fact that when simple jokes mirror real world hatred, you can't be ambiguous, or you will often reinforce the later. Because, yeah, both 'sides' believe themselves righteous. So then, they don't take joke about themselves seriously, but will see the jokes about others validating. A rather low example from this movie if you will (not going into the worst ones, to not get too heated), with the Zoey character : one joke that sort of works is 'the chemicals in their produce made this boy grow tits'. It's even a joke in queer circles that "oh no, the vaccines made me grow boobs, now i'm trans". Because it's absurd, no one in their right mind would believe it, no matter their "side", and it's not mean with anyone or anything. One that doesn't, is the whole armpit hair thing. And he probably thought it was a real funny one, because we get like 4 or 5 scenes about it. While yeah, I would take it as the joke that it is because, it's coming from Aladeen, the absolutely outrageous caricature that's not a good moral compass at all, and laugh at his bigotry, I can't shake the feeling of the exact opposite. Because it just mirrors real world hatred, just check any videos or photos of women with any hair and you'll have idiots rushing in with the "eww you need to shave that" (to quote the least bad ones). And I guarantee, watching this, they wouldn't take this as anything other than a validation of their view that she's a leftist, therefore she's disgusting. Even if by so thinking, they align themselves with a terrible, albeit fictional, dictator. Same way we get them quoting Eric Cartman all the time, even though he's supposed to be the fucking worst. Because it's just humor, it's just a show, jokes, and therefore it's okay. Even when it's really not. And yeah, you can say the opposite is also true about the jokes that align with the other "side". But here, what are they, really ? Dictators are bad, and a lot of the U.N. members aren't so clean either ? Are we really to put that basic morality on the same level as all the racist and bigoted jokes that come attached to it ?

Raven Blackrose

You said it better than I could. "Both sides are crrraaazzzy" helps nobody but the status quo, and only equates people trying to move the world forward with people trying to drag it back. Because to a centrist, all change is bad.

Mike FromOz

It is such a powerful film, but damn does Don Logan ever scare the absolute hell out of me.

Holy Squire

The issue is never the issue, revolution is the issue. We don't want to go down into that dialectical abyss. It ends in a landscape of misery.

Cc Decc

I used to think Canadians were nice, and that all the talk about them being sneaky moochers who caused trade deficits was ridiculous. But then I subscribed to Cinebinge, and George wouldn't stop with the dad jokes and bad puns, and Simone was a big meaniehead who used unladylike language and who kept threatening me if I wouldn't subscribe. And I eventually realized, maybe people were right afterall.

droodly

AlixFrost - Are you saying even though they specifically put this horrible stuff into the mouths of terrible people like a dictator or horrible child to remove its validity, If some idiot out there might agree and run with it, they should sanitize it? Just not do satire because dumb assholes exist?

Brien

The unrated version is 15 minutes longer...

Raven Blackrose

Yeah yeah, we get it, having opinions on ongoing humanitarian crises is cringe, just shut up and don't think

Tyler Explains It All

As an American in 2026, that speech at the end with "America needs dictators" is so relevant in 2026 lol

Dan Holmes

Yo why is Simone looking fine as hell in this one 👀

PureGonzo

I wanted to say the exact same thing in this comment section, but I refrained simply because I didn’t want to inadvertently turn it into an argument. But I’m really glad somebody said it. This movie is very funny, no doubt about it, but I can’t help but feel gross after watching it. Especially right now…

Jacob King

I can’t tell if you’re trolling with your rec. (if so haha) The guy who wrote the book Munich is based on was a con artist/fantasist. Mossad obviously doesn’t acknowledge what are crimes committed in allied countries so it could be a true-ish story or it could be completely made up.

Holy Squire

I never felt cleaner than after watching this movie. It was like a baptism.

Cc Decc

Its funny, and I don't meant to start a thing here, because its just a personal observation. But about halfway through the watch and...this movie isn't nearly as focused and funny as I remember it, and some of the funniest parts that I thought I remembered the movie having haven't even shown up yet. I'm wandering could I have muddled my memory of this movie and mixed it up with another? Don't Mess With the Zohan or something? Or was that missing 15min of the Director's Cut that important?

Tr3vayne

Yo don't leave George out, he's looking good too 👀

Mike FromOz

I find Sascha Baron Cohen's comedy a bit crass, so I think I'll skip this one and rewatch your reaction to "Death of Stalin" instead.

Jeromy M

I was so confused as to why so many scenes were missing.

REDR58

And for some reason the Theatrical version I have didn't seem to sync up either.

REDR58

Sayed Badreya is listed in the credits as Omar Aladeen, the father, but though the character he is mentioned in the beginning of the movie he’s never seen? Maybe his scenes were cut? Badreya was also in “Stargate,” “Independence Day" and “Iron Man” as “Abu Bakaar” as seen here screaming at the Ten Rings men to capture the women in Gulmira: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kQ7YgM0dc0 At 39:52 into the reaction, the balding guy with glasses guy who talking to Anna Farris outside is comedian Chris Elliot from “The Abyss.” When Aladeen is talking to Nadal shortly after arriving at the funeral home, Nadal brings up the “Menudo incident” which is a reference to the Puerto Rican teen boy band “Menudo” which has existed with various members/lineups between 1977 and the present. They were probably most popular in the US in the 1980s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2MWL24Q94Q Also at the funeral home, the usher is played by comedian J.B. Smoove from “Spider-Man: Far From Home” and “...No Way Home" as one of the high school teachers, Juliius Dell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pst5LPCuB58 He’s also in the end credit extra scenes at the funeral home. Kathryn Hahn is very good in the WandaVision spinoff series Agatha All Along. Isla Fisher was mentioned at the end of the credits. She was married to Cohen at the time. Welp, I don't know what to say about the movie itself. I guess Ferris Bueller is wrong, you really can go too far...

Degenerick

missing out on Peak brother but you do you i guess
