Again, the thumbnail is just 👩‍🍳 *chef's kiss* Time to watch with you both... I hope this review isn't too lumpy 😁

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

Currently going through your Bond reactions. But I paused, to check this out. It's a great movie. Though I haven't seen it for like 20 years. So it will be fun to watch through with you guys

2026-09-13 17:00 I hope you watch Junior one day.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Really enjoyable film with possibly Arnie’s most endearing performance. Was a curveball at the time and it’s crazy to think how much the back-end profit deal from this movie garnered him, Devito and Reitman when all was said and done. I guess it’s a natural progression to recommend “Junior” where the two reunite to be joined by a certain English legend ☺️

Lloyd Franklin

I thought I had a twin, it turned out to be a mirror.

OddThomas

Romancing The Stone for more Danny De Vito

Brandon

The audio in the Sync With Your Own Copy version goes out of sync at around 2:26 in the intro. I skipped to a point later on (around 34 minutes into the video) and it was in sync again.

Raven Dark

LOL It took me way too long to figure that one out.

Tay Schumaker

So Arnold and Devito are apparently great friends still to this day and that started with this film. They have great chemistry and love that they bonded on a personal level doing this movie

jmundt33a

If only that film had recaptured this magic.

Cc Decc

I feel like this film was oversold a bit here and hope there isn't any disappointment -- its not THAT funny looked at just as a tier 1 type comedy. Its not (original) Naked Gun, or Something About Mary or Monty Python or whatever. But it is still fun and just feels like one of those movies that should absolutely be seen at least once. Arnie trying to branch out.

Cc Decc

Ack! Junior? Let them keep their positive impressions of Arnie as comedian. :p

Cc Decc

What if we just skipped to Jingle All the Way instead?

Cc Decc

Note btw, on carpeted bathrooms....then one day the toilet overflows....

Jeff K.

YES. Love that movie. It’s also, in a very real way, why we got Back to the Future because if Robert Zemeckis had failed he never would have gotten the green light on BTTF, so Romancing the Stone being a huge hit essentially saved his career (he was still young but hadn’t really impressed much, and was viewed by a lot of people as “just Spielberg’s disappointing protege” (I listen to way too much of the Blank Check podcast, clearly).

Den Radar Ryan

Classic! Arnold's first comedy film and the first of 3 comedies he made with Ivan Reitman directing. Twins (1988), Kindergarten Cop (1990) and Junior (1994). You'll love Junior lol. Arnold and Danny DeVito in another movie together again...but this time Arnold's pregnant. Seriously lol 😉✌️

OddThomas

More 80s films: Flight of the Navigator, Short Circuit, Heathers

Marshmallow Venom (실리콘 밸리)

Aqua Velva is a cheap drugstore cologne, but was popular in the 60's with the tagline "there's something about an Aqua Velva man!" And the lifting the car scene - well, I lifted a car as a teenager during a Universal Studios tour in the late 70's. IIRC, it has something to do with a counterweight that moves inside the car and allows anyone to lift it. Great reaction to a fun movie.

Brandon

Definitely check out War of the Roses for a terrific dark comedy. Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito star. DeVito also directed. Out of his directorial efforts, it's probably his best work.

Cc Decc

The terrible movie he allegedly tricked him into doing was Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot!

OddThomas

Kelly Preston (Marnie) is John Travolta's late wife. You saw her as Tom Cruise's ex in Jerry Maguire & she was the kill count reporter in From Dusk Til Dawn. But most people remember her from Twins.

Christian Da Silva

Now you just need to do Junior and Jingle all the Way to complete the trilogy!

Data Cable

59:25 Oh, hai, Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant! Appeared several times in TNG (first on the world of oiled-up jogging Aryan pornstars that wanted to execute Wesley, and later, extended by matte painting, as Starfleet Academy) and will appear several more in DS9 and Voyager.

TomGas2025

now you need to see Junior with Arnold pregnant... :-)

Life in the cave of Garanoga

Such a fun movie I haven't seen in years. Great reaction. My favorite Kelly Preston role is in "For Love of the Game" Playing opposite Kevin Costner. In my opinion his best baseball movie, an absolute gem you guys should definitely add to the polls. Stacked cast and isn't really about baseball at all aside from the perfect game possibility as the backdrop. Highly recommend. "Would you still love me if I was deformed? No, but we could still be friends." lol

maikeru

first I thought this is a spoiler, but it isn´t because he´s clearly pregnant on the film poster^^

Old School Drew

A few good Danny de Vito movies Romancing the stone and throw momma from the train. Kelly Preston has a small role in Christine. A couple of overlooked Arnold movies are red heat and raw deal

maikeru

George, "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot!" is not really a bad movie and Sly is funny in it, watch it please and find out for yourself if it´s bad or not, I´d def would like to see your reactions to it and Junior (1994) is worth a watch, funny film and Emma Thompson´s comedic timing is top tier

Cc Decc

The car lifting thing might be possible btw on a car with a front engine. In high school my lunkhead friends used to like to move people's cars around at parties as a prank. The weight was all at the front end.

maikeru

@Cc If we did we´d miss a banger reaction IMO to a fun movie

Jasbro

I had to look it up because i was curious but yes Arnie did actually lift that car, it had been modified to be lighter, no engine and such but that was all him apparently.

Kelly Pickard

For future consideration… Movies: - Stardust (2007) - Logan Lucky (2017) - Arthur (1981) - Death Becomes Her (1992) - Waking Ned Devine (1998) - Moonstruck (1987) - Hook (1991) - Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988) - The Money Pit (1986) - Margin Call (2011) - Legend, Director's Cut (1985) - The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert (1994) - Flash Gordon (1980) - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) - City Slickers (1991) - The Craft (1996) TV: - Batman: The Animated Series - Disney's Gargoyles - Barry (Max) - Interview with the Vampire (AMC TV series) - Invincible

Christian Da Silva

I second Junior and would also add Jingle all the way. The later one is funnier in my opinion but also love Junior. Now, in regards to Stop of my mom will shoot, I loved it as a kid, but then rewatched it a couple of years ago and it was cringe AF. I would still love for them to watch it just for the laughs

Cc Decc

Oh no...Mischief (1985).

Rupert Purcat

Linda Kozlowski filling the water bottle in Crocodile Dundee - not sure if you remember George!

Christian Da Silva

By the way guys, we can't think of Devito if you don't watch Mathilda. That one's a must

Carlos H

Matilda is another great devito film

Lone Desert Bones

I miss popcorn ceilings ‘cos as a kid I would stare at the ceiling and make faces with the little shadows.

Hombredave

The only Stallone comedy that comes to mind is 'Oscar' (1991), which I recommend. I'm in agreement with everyone else for more Devito you guys check out 'Romancing the Stone.'

jmundt33a

Oscar is fabulous.

Michael Robayo

There's an issue with the Sync with your copy version for me. Like 3 mins in, the video starts to play in slow motion and the audio is no longer synced with the video.

Cinebinge

hmm, seems to be a corrupted export. will create a new one now. should take about an hour to replace.

Cinebinge

Jonathan Eaton

Arnold is 6'2" or at least he was in the 90's. ;) I am 6'1" and had my picture taken with Arnold. I thought my kids were going to be so excited but it actually ruined the illusion for them. With baggy shirts on we looked about the same size. My son said "He's as small as you!".

David Lonewolf Wright

My condo built in the late 70's early 80's had carpeted bathrooms and I hated it... I hated it before the toilet overflowed, which just increased my disdain.

David Lonewolf Wright

They can watch her in the very fun mid 2000 superhero movie Sky High.

Where_Were_You_When_The_Westfold_Fell

The movie Stallone was (apparently) tricked into doing, was "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot". I remember liking it as a kid, but it has been ages since I've seen it, so no idea how it aged. Oh and its also staring Estelle Getty, aka. Sophia from Golden Girls.

Data Cable

Strong second on Short Circuit, because A) it's rarely reacted to, and 2) I like seeing modern reactions to one particular character, and you all know the one I mean.

Matt88g

You asked about Sylvester stallone comedy, he plays king shark in James Gunn sucide squad

Cc Decc

I like Oscar, or liked it when I saw it. Demolition Man is always my favorite funny thing of his, albeit an action comedy rather than pure comedy, and watched long ago by the channel.

REDR58

Sometimes that happens in bathrooms in basements that are inside of a carpeted room. Yeah…

REDR58

She died in 2020, age 57, from breast cancer.

REDR58

Red Heat it’s fantastically fun!

REDR58

Home design trends… Popcorn ceiling, haven’t seen that since the early 1980s in some relatives’ homes. Don’t go picking at it because sometimes it contains asbestos… https://www.theasbestosinstitute.com/2023/03/what-is-a-popcorn-ceiling/ Carpeted bathrooms. My house has a stone/slate floor in the kitchen so we have foam rubber mats near the stove/sink All white rooms I’ve usually seen in apartments. I’ve never seen gray walls except for a basement. But the unfinished basement in our house has blue and yellow walls from the last owner who used it as a game room (ping-pong, pool, etc.). Never seen concrete ceilings except in parking garages. No apartment I’ve ever lived in has had that. My dorm room in college was made of cinder blocks (concrete block). I’ve never lived anywhere with a free-standing tub. My girlfriend loves them and as soon as I can I’m going to make that happen for her. I love floor to ceiling windows but have never lived anywhere with that. Some places in our town have individual window casings that are floor to ceiling, often in rooms on either side of the front door. Open shelving I have bookcases and some built-ins like that but it doesn’t bother me. We have that in the guest bedroom. I mounted a TV in one of them. Love wallpaper in some cases. We have that in our powder room. Ship-lap I’ve never had. Edit: we do have a wood-paneled, partially finished basement/den and it's great. When I was growing up in the 1980s our den had wood paneling. Horizontal (and vertical blinds) we have them and I like them. We have good-quality wooden horizontal blinds in the bedrooms, but curtains downstairs and also vertical blinds. We also don’t have a cat.

UnlicensedOkie

1. Not a fan of popcorn ceilings, but they’re nostalgic to me. 2. My old house has that really flat thin carpet in the bathroom 70s trend. 3. I don’t mind the singular colored walls. I’m like Simone. Very picky 4. Never lived in a house with a concrete ceiling. 5. I’ve never had a free standing tub, but I have been contemplating getting a claw foot tub. I feel like this would be best for a large bathroom with plenty of room around the tub 6. I prefer more traditional windows. 7. I have doorless bookshelves. Open shelves in kitchen is nasty. 8. Never dealt with wall paper before. It can work 9. Wood paneling can be neat looking. My old house was floor to ceiling wall paneling in living room and bedroom 10. Venetian blinds is the word you’re referring to. Venetian blinds are fine.

TheCookiesofDiscontent

regarding housing design choices, In the 70's it was a big thing for kitchen counters to have a speckled design scheme. Why the hell someone would want a kitchen counter that purposely looks like it's got crumbs all over it? We had one in my house as a kid and the apartment I live in now has one which probably means it's around 50 years old when the building 1st went up

nigel Macbug

at 1hr28min I hope George is taking pointers for his wedding dance

Eddy V Ruiz II

It is directed by John Landis as well and the cast is stacked

djKENTO

Yes Arnold's height is real. I've met him and I'm 6'2" and I was just a smidge taller than him.

UnlicensedOkie

The lady who played Marnie was Kelly Preston. Well know actress. Married to John Travolta. Sadly passed away in 2020

Richard

Speaking of Jim Belushi you gotta add Red Heat to the list. It’s an underrated buddy cop from the 80s

Cally

I hope you don't mind but I have a few suggestions you may like. Movies: - Throw Momma From the Train (Devito & Billy Crystal) - Matilda (if only for how kind Danny Devito and Rhea Perlman were to Mara Wilson) - Blow Dry. Alan Rickman as a former champion hairdresser and Josh Hartnett has the worst ever Yorkshire accent - Joe Versus the Volcano - The Ladykillers (1955) or possibly compare with the modern remake - The Wicker Man (1973) also has a more modern remake - Dirty Rotten Scoundrels TV - I Claudius (BBC drama series about Roman Emperors starring Derek Jacobi, Patrick Stewart, John Hurt) - The West Wing - DEVS - The Orville

REDR58

People of a certain age may recall “SpaceCamp” (1986) which starred Kelly Preston, Lea Thompson (Lorraine in the Back to the Future movies), Joaquin Phoenix (then called “Leaf Phoenix”) and Tom Skerritt (from Alien and Top Gun). That might be worth a watch. Edit, in 1988, the same year Twins came out, Preston was in an interesting movie called “Spell Binder.” Edit the second… how could I forget, Preston was a movie called “52 Pick-Up” (1986) directed by John Frankenheimer and starring Roy Scheider (Jaws) and that is a pretty good film.

Cc Decc

I remember watching Spellbinder when I was young and thinking....I would have died.

Katie I

So the phrase “my back teeth are floating” basically insinuates you’re so desperate to pee because you’ve been holding it in so long. So essentially you’re so full of pee, your back teeth are floating in it. Sickeningly, as if it crept up your throat. It’s a really gross saying. And I’m so sorry to have ruined your blissful ignorance on the topic 😂 Loved this reaction. You both have been keeping me busy through a lot of pain this week with the back catalogue of reactions. So thank you! ❤️

Lloyd Franklin

A Silvester Stallone comedy I recommend is a film called Oscar.

Digital Droo

Honestly, more than anything, I wanted to see the reaction to Preston's "bed crawl" shot. George's frozen expression didn't disappoint.

John

This was a lot of fun. Kelly Preston was Tom Cruise's girlfriend at the beginning of Jerry Maguire. An underrated Danny Devito movie I will recommend is Other People's Money (1991), it also stars Pennelope Ann Miller (Arnold's Love interest from Kindergarten Cop) and Gregory Peck (Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird). Other Ivan Reitman movies I would suggest (Stripes, Dave, and Evolution)

Snyte

For home trends: I absolutely hate TV above fireplace

Jay Johnson

Simone is welcome to come to my house and eat all my food any time she likes. (but I'm still gonna like and subscribe)

s0rd3z

Ruthless People is a really good Devito film, Romancing the Stone as others have mentioned is a great film also, more of a side character but he has a lot of screen time and he's very good in it. And it's a Zemekis film as well.

REDR58

I dealt with that by having the TV/projector screen on a wall perpendicular to the fireplace wall.

REDR58

Yes indeed.

Spectre Mando

I kind of expected the born to be bad shirt to be the thumbnail 😅

Angzarr

In the early-mid 2000s in Florida, looking for a house, I toured a condo that was for sale. It was built in the 70s and was still owned by the original owner, who lived up north somewhere and only used it a couple of weeks a year (sort of like a non-shared timeshare situation, I guess). It had all-original trendy 1970s decor... Silver metallic wallpaper. Deep shag carpet. Pastel-colored toilets and sinks. Yellow kitchen appliances. Extremely sparkly popcorn ceilings. Odd light fixtures, etc... it even had some of the 70's furniture. But, because it had hardly been used, it was all in absolutely *pristine* condition ~30 years later, like it had all just been installed. I'd seen all of that stuff before, but never all at once, and always in worn out condition. I cannot adequately explain how trippy it was seeing it all like brand new. It was like I'd stepped back in time or onto a film set from some period movie.

Christian Da Silva

How about recreating the poster with Simone's face on Arnies and George's in Danny's since Simone is as tall as Arnold anyways?

Christian Da Silva

I've been expecting that reaction from him for years now. I can sleep well tonight

dys

I very much appreciate the Over the Garden Wall reference in the beginning, would be great if you get George to watch it sometime around spooky season.

ArcadeAndy

Another great Kelly Preston movie is For Love of the Game. It's a Costner baseball movie, heavy on the baseball, but it's really at its best when Preston is on screen.

Jonathan Eaton

BTW That was Jeff Beck on guitar in the bar scene.

Christina Doxstader

To be fair to the studio thinking this movie was a risk, this was Arnold's first comedic role and could have easily bombed incredibly hard

Boba Fettuccine

A few others have mentioned it already, but "Oscar" is a great Stallone comedy with a stacked cast. You'll need another OMG counter for each time you see a familiar face. I don't think it did too well when it came out, but it's a really fun comedy of errors.

Jay Johnson

that is a great movie. of course Costner and Preston are great in it. As in John C Reilly. I also adore Jena Malone's role as Jane's (Preston's character) daughter. And the soundtrack is great music too. I just found out now that that movie was written by Michael Shaara, who is best known for the Civil War novel "The Killer Angels"

REDR58

Preston was married to John Travolta from between 1991 and 2020 at her death. She also dated Charlie Sheen and George Clooney before that.

Darren Harrison

Everyone was in love with Kelly Preston from the mid-1980s to the mid-00's. The first time I noticed her was in "SpaceCamp" (1986) alongside my favorite actress of that generation, Lea Thompson. Her death in 2020 was heartbreaking and shocking.

Collinson

The Song "I only have eyes for you" was in a Buffy episode where Buffy and Angelus get possessed by a tragic couple. Season 2 episode 19. That might be where Simone has heard it before.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

That and they both tried killing Batman. Arnold can debately be considered successful as far as Batman’s cinematic presence for about a decade.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

So speaking of rock facts, when is Simone gonna flick George’s ear hard enough to get him to watch “Over the Garden Wall”? Luv u tho buddy :)

Kevin Cormier

And they starred together in The Experts, which I don't know if you can find these days but it's a stupid fun movie.

Tenn Seven

Holy crap, I've seen this movie maybe four or five times, but I just noticed this time around that the guy who walks into the bathroom while Arnold is picking up DeVito is played by the same actor who played Shep Proudfoot in Fargo (his name is Steve Reevis). Kind of wild.

Simone's Coconut Squire

I friggin’ LOVED that movie (Space Camp) as a kid. I begged my dad until he finally took me, then I lied to my mom so she’d take me again lol.

dys

Mary Ann (the twins' mom)'s actress Bonnie Bartlett was also in the first episode of Firefly, the old lady ruling that one moon they had a shootout with.

Cc Decc

Taking Care of Business maybe. But why were we talking about Jim Belushi again?

Cc Decc

Junior is so bad though. :p

MacGuffinStuff

"Three Perfect Strangers" (2018), documentary. I saw TWINS as a kid, loved it and it's still fun, but when George mentioned twins and nature/nurture, I went right to "Three Perfect Strangers". It's a crazy story, not as fun as this movie, it's kind of a bummer. But the twin connection, so many interesting stories. I'm sure between Shatner and Frakes there's got to be an episode or two about twins.

Alexander Whitehill

Stallone's best comedy (in my opinion his best film fullstop) is Oscar. You guys would love it. I promise you. One piece of advice (as non-spoilery as I can make it) KEEP. YOUR. EYES. ON. THE. BAG!

REDR58

First time watch for me. Never saw this back in the day...I spotted so many familiar faces from older TV and movies! Tony Jay, as Professor Werner with the goatee at the beginning of the movie, will show up in an episode of TNG. Retired actor David Caruso, the parking attendant who helps Vincent spot cars to steal, was in Rambo as one of the deputies working for the Sherriff who messes with Rambo. He is probably most famous in the US for the cop drama series “NYPD Blue” and later, in particular "CSI: Miami." He is also famous for this meme: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/puts-on-sunglasses-yeeeeaaahhh The late American-Candian actor Maury Chaykin as Burt, one of the Klane Brothers who pursues Vincent was in "Dances with Wolves" as the disturbed Major Fambrough who sent Dunbar (Kevin Costner) to Fort Hays before taking his own life. He was also in “WarGames” as one of David’s hacker friends, and also in “My Cousin Vinny” and “The Mask of Zorro” as the prison warden Vincent’s girlfriend Linda is played by Chloe Webb who was in Ghostbusters II as one of the people interviewed on Venkman’s psychic TV show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYOQa1RfBQ8 “Willow” was playing at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre/Mann's Chinese Theatre when Julius first spots Victor in the street. No, George, Schwarzenegger didn’t kill Stallone‘s career. Stallone killed his own career! Boom! Marshall Bell the assassin whose face must never be seen was in “Stand By Me” as the disappointed father of Gordie (Wil Wheaton) and in “Total Recall” as George the Mutant on Mars who carries Kuato around in his chest. He was also in “Starship Troopers” as a general. Wired car phones of the era were just radio telephones with a separate transmitter, usually stored in the trunk. You can see the phone antenna, the little curly one on the top of the trunk of the Mustang I don’t ever remember seeing people smoke in grocery stores even in the 1980s. The bridge they cross on the road trip is the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge in Tao, New Mexico and it also appeared in the movie “Paul”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rio_Grande_Gorge_Bridge Dr. Mitchell Traven said the room where the twins were conceived was sealed shortly after they were born (35 years?) yet there is still liquid in various lab glassware. I guess those vessels are very tightly sealed! The guy with the blue jean jacket who walked into the restroom when Julius was hugging Victor is the late Steve Reevis who played the mechanic Shep Proudfoot from Fargo. He setup the meeting for the kidnapping of Jerry Lundegaard’s wife Jean which Jerry tried to get him to cancel. Sven-Ole Thorsen who often shows up in Arnold’s movies appears as Sam Klane. He was in “Conan the Barbarian,” “The Running Man,” “Lethal Weapon,” “Predator,” “The Hunt for Red October,” “Total Recall,” “Mall Rats” and several others you've watched here. Beetroot McKinley’s assistant with the gun who gives Vincent the money is played by Marvin J. McIntyre who was the undertaker in Back to the Future Part III also in The Running Man as Weiss, one of the men who escapes with Ben Richards (Arnold). Ivan Reitman’s children Jason and Catherine can be seen as 2 of Granger’s (one of Julius and Vincent’s fathers) grandchildren. Fun reaction! (edited)

REDR58

Typical Aqua Velva commercial: www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5Lyfy1AtzE I remember these well, despite having no need for after shave as a pre-teen in the early-to-mid 1980s

REDR58

Oh yes, you can say that two times. Seriously though, I think that will spark some very interesting discussions...

Senec

Opening banter: Popcorn Ceiling - No. Probably good for ambient sound absorption, but a pain to clean. Carpeted Bathroom/Kitchen - NO! These are rooms where you're guaranteed to get water on the floor at some point. Just put down tile like a sane person. All White/Grey walls - Fine as a starting point, but every room in my house has a non-standard color on the walls with a contrasting accent wall. I like color, so white walls feels too sterile to me. Concrete ceiling - Umm... okay I guess? I imagine its very echo-y though, and I dont really dig the modern brutalist design. Give me hardwood floors colorful walls, and lighter ceilings. Freestanding Tub - Mmm... pass. you're putting a lot of faith in your shower curtain to keep the water in the tub. I have a tile shower stall with a glass block window, and a grouted river rock floor. The water all stays in the stall. I have a standard bath tub in the finished basement bathroom. Floor-to-ceiling windows - Naah. Just feels like a lot of exposure. It could be nice if you were in a highrise with a 1-way film on the windows, but I'd still be paranoid. I went with nice cordless shades for my window treatments. Can open the shade from the top or bottom so I can control the privacy and light. Doorless Shelves - Open cabinets? Naw. I have a cat. Sounds like a great way to end up with broken dishes and chewed food bags. Wallpaper - No. Just no. Do a faux finish if you want a pattern. Shiplap Paneling - No thanks, I dont like splinters. Venetian Blinds - No. Those suck. Cordless cellular shades are the way to go.

2026-09-05 05:00 I found this hilarious back in the late 80s. Now, having moved on from Saturday morning cartoons, incredibly big hair, shell suits and Freddy Krueger, Twins is now also just faintly embarrassing in how hard they were trying to get laughs from the audience.
2026-04-27 02:51

Jeff K.

Hell yes to Ruthless People. Such an underrated comedy.

s0rd3z

Bonnie Bartlett, she was one of the Sandpiper ladies in Better Call Saul too :)

s0rd3z

Chaykin is one of those guys that is just all over the place doing great character work in side rolls all across movies and TV. He was the original town sheriff in the pilot of Eureka as well. A comfort show I really enjoy. It's sad that those types of actors and making a living that way is falling by the wayside due to streaming and, my personal opinion here, the digital enshitification of media. ;)

fforw

Wait.. Does Simone also come over to Europe for some food if I unsubscribe?

Logan Kerlee

Had a TON of fun watching this with you two! I'm glad that you both enjoyed the movie. I watched this one ages ago but I'd forgotten the entire thing more or less, so it was like my first time watching. You both rock. thank you for doing this. :)

Maria Forsström

It's definitely not a comedy, but if you want an unusual Stallone movie where he plays a more ordinary dude you should watch "Cop Land" (1997). There are so many great actors in it!

Crap Bag - first name Crap last name Bag

“Oscar “is a comedy that I like of Stallone‘s it also has Marissa Tomei and Tim Curry. Kelly Preston was the fiancé in Jerry Maguire.

Thomas Young

If you liked Arnold and Danny Devito together, check out Junior. Emma Thompson is also in it, its another strange movie where Arnold plays a scientist that does and experiment to get pregnant. Pregnant Arnold is absolutely amazing.

REDR58

Yes indeed. Chaykin also did the “Nero Wolfe” series based on the stories by Rex Stout. Great period piece series.

David N

How come when I put on a leisure suit and ask a woman to waltz it never works out?

Sumner Hayes

Popcorn ceilings are acoustic-deadening. They've always been considered kind of ugly, but sometimes worth the trade off (especially if you are in a condo/apartment with noisy upstairs neighbors). They also historically had asbestos in them, so if you life in an older house get them checked.

Jay Johnson

after the mention here, I just had to rewatch it myself. G & S might not be big baseball fans, but really "For Love of the Game" is a love story with baseball as the backdrop. I think at least Simone would dig it.

maikeru

he also directed it. I don't mind them watching Mathilda, I'd watch that react anyway, but I'd prefer they watch The War of the Roses sooner than later (which was also directed by DeVito) because it's more entertaining than Mathilda IMO and probably one of the most entertaining films of the 80's

maikeru

come on, it's not at all. it's entertaining and that's good enough.

ArcadeAndy

I agree. It's somewhat similar to Jerry McGuire and football, but a little bit heavier on the sports. Like most "sports" movies though, it's a drama first and foremost, and I think they'd both enjoy it.

REDR58

Simone and George, I'm gonna assume you have never seen or heard of "Taxi" the 1978 TV sitcom that starred Judd Hirsch (played the father of Jeff Goldblum in "Independence Day") Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd and the late Andy Kaufman (the comedian, if you don't know who he is). The series is streaming on Paramount (like TNG). Here is the opening and closing theme of the show, the former of which features footage of a taxicab driving across the Queensboro Bridge/59th Street Bridge between Manhattan and Queens, New York City (notice the car "warps" along as some of the footage is repeated): www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7WF45gyiuM The instrumental music is called "Angela" by jazz keyboardist Bob James (who is currently on tour): www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lDuFxKWdGw Here is a very funny clip of the show with DeVito and Lloyd: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yt_p15C_lBM

Oh, I disagree. This was a first-time watch for me, one of *many* movies I never saw as a kid growing up in the 1970s/1980s and I found it quite charming. But, to each their own!

1h 47m of Simone looking down at the floor in front of her 🤔 inspired content Hopefully this was just a one off and not the new norm

As another one of my asides, just rewatching a bit, this time on your don't need a copy version while I choke down some frozen food and *got-dang* the picture quality for this movie is pretty bad. I watched a ripped Blu-ray that I bought last week and the reviews for the picture quality for that disc from 2020 weren't wrong and wherever you sourced your copy from seems to be the same scan. Quite dreadful (not your fault, of course). This really needs a nice 4K scan/UHD disc release, stat.

The Last Starfighter is SO 80s, but in the best way.

Movie comment first.... That motel scene simultaneously made every man and every woman feel inadequate. Intro comment: I've lived in the U.K for a while. carpeted bathrooms are fairly common, because radiators do almost nothing to help your floor in winter. Where I'm currently I have a an 8ft wide 6 ft tall window, with a single set of blinds on it, double string. I'm so concerned that the amount of "tugging" I have to do to get the blinds up, that I push it up with my other hand.. and I have plain white walls with a popcorn ceiling. Yeah, it's not the best. Side note, I did look at a place which actually had a carpeted ceiling... No joke! They actually cut a circle out of the carpet for the pendulum light fitting. I did not move there.

Funny enough where I grew up it was "My eyeballs are floating." Or "my eyeballs are about to float out of my head." I don't know if it's a southern version of it because never heard the teeth floating version aside from this movie and a few friends I met in my teens from up north used to say it. There was also a grosser version kids would say more often than either of those but l will just leave that to the imagination lol.

“Career Opportunities” 1991 Jennifer Connelly riding a $.25 mechanical horse. Good chance you’ve seen the .gif. Watch the scene her voice and the rides squeak is so sexy.

So I’m in the UK. And the only people I’ve heard say it here are Scottish so it’s really interesting where other people have heard this phrase!

Car Phones were functionally similar to cell phones, just on older technology that required a lot more power and a true antenna to be effective. They were generally fully integrated and used the cars electrical system. They had their own number just like a land line or a cellular phone, at least in this era. As technology and infrastructure improved and the components got smaller and more efficient, they became entirely obsolete.

Popcorn ceiling: I feel like the only person in the world that likes these, maybe nostalgically, or at least, doesn't hate them at all. People are so mad at them, I tend not to even argue my side of it, though. Not worth the battle. I can see not liking them, but people lose their minds with hatred, and it makes no sense to me. I did once have one of the little pebbles fall in any drink while I was on my friend's couch, watching a movie, so there is that argument against 😆 Carpeted bathrooms and kitchens: I saw a fully carpeted bathroom at a house when looking for a house with my realtor. We were both horrified. It was, like, shag carpet, too. All white or all gray: I can like this. It depends on how it's done. The all-white just on its own isn't a problem. It can be really pretty in a room with a lot of sun coming in, like from skylights. Personally, I prefer more color and moodiness. Concrete ceilings. I'm okay with it. I don't think I have a hard feeling either way. I'd rather be able to hang things from the ceiling, and that would make it a pain, though. Free-standing tubs: Not a huge fan. I prefer a stone tile shower. I don't even use tubs. Here's the fancy one in my mom's old house in Florida; she designed everything seen here (that's a shower room in the background, with like 7 different ways of showering all throughout it: https://photos.app.goo.gl/zR1EVwNJ7uXwVAyM8 https://photos.app.goo.gl/XFZgQhBirtjQrabj9 Massive floor-to-ceiling windows. Can be cool, especially in a movie, but I'm a hider. I hide. I don't like people seeing in. I always have all my window covered, so I would cover them. I have a courtyard behind my kitchen, and the kitchen, living room, and a bedroom surround it, and they all have double glass doors, and I do like the midday light on the curtains, making the rooms look golden. I always worry about people breaking in through them while I'm away, though. Doorless shelves: I love the look of this, but it's a problem with dust. My mom is one of the best interior designers I've ever seen, and this is her open shelves kitchen. I think it's gorgeous, and there has been surprisingly little dust on things. She is a cleaner, though, and really takes care of her home: https://photos.app.goo.gl/BJegrdFDAh16mGMK6 Wallpaper: I grew up with it, and I like it. I haven't missed it since moving out, however. It does feel a little bit dated now. My mom was into it when I was little, and I remember going with her to pick out patterns. I also remember her picking out something for one of the rooms of the house, which looked good in the samples, but made our eyes bleed once installed. It was so loud and busy. This is my room from when I was about 14 (I was trying to record my computer setup, which I was proud of, and love having at least this record of now, for nostalgia's sake). You can see the wallpaper at the top doesn't match the wallpaper at the bottom, and there's a border strip between them, with deer on it. I helped pick it out. https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZbTmZZTfoE7PfuJv8 It does feel extremely dated to me now. Even my mom no longer deals with wallpaper, and she's run a rental cabin business, and done a ton of design work in about 5 cabins. I don't think she dealt with any wallpaper. It was a trend, 30-40 years ago. Ship lap: take it or leave it. I do kind of like the look of it in a basement fun room/man cave. If you Google images search for shiplap basement, it's all nice, white paneling. If you search for shiplap man cave, it's all mismatched species of darker woods 😆 I like them both. It feels like "fun" to me, like a vacation cottage, or AirBNB. String pulley plastic blinds: If it's a quality set, it works well, and I don't hate them. Some I've used you have to pull so hard on, I feel like I'm going to tear it off the wall, or door. I do like the ability to pull down on the blinds themselves to peer out at people, judgmentally. I have larger, wooden slat Venetian blinds. They don't hold up forever in the sunlight, however. Some of mine are in pretty pad shape now, with the slats curling, strings broken in some spots. I just saw them from the outside (down the narrow strip between houses, where I never go), and all the finish was peeling off. Looked like really badly sunburned skin, with dry, paler wood left behind. Something I like, that my realtor (see photo) hated, because he thought it was so outdated, and looked like all the homes he grew up in, was any home we visited with white tile floors and counters. I always got a kick of delight when we'd visit one while I was home-shopping. It just felt like some awesome 80s something or other was about to happen. I think the white tile counters are a pain to clean—you wipe, and every bagel seed and crumb is just staying behind in the grout lines—but I just love the look. There's almost something kind of Star Wars about it, too. https://photos.app.goo.gl/LmMkTt1rrzwP6SsY6 https://photos.app.goo.gl/cNi63gJ7XLuLWNdz9 I also love those

You see a movie like this, and wonder if there really is a rich guy doing research at some beautiful, remote, island setting, and yes, there is! I just saw this the other day, about the guy who brought Tetris to the United States. He used that huge payday to start a huge, off-grid science... lair? Fortress? In Hawaii. It's beautiful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iz0iSxks-Dw&list=TLPQMjcwNDIwMjak_8vfnjpDOg

It turned out that Ivan Reitman's son had a long lost twin he didn't know about, who wants to make the sequel, so now it's back on.

I recommend watching Pumping Iron 1977 Body building Documentary to see Arnold at his absolute physical peak

I'm definitely a fan of shiplap, wallpaper used thoughtfully and well, and big windows as long as there's a great view beyond them. Definitely NOT a fan of carpeted bathrooms (dear God no). Some of the items you point to, George, are financial not really "design" though -- popcorn ceilings, horizontal blinds, carpets -- they're typically found in cheaper homes or apartments. Also, just a PSA that cats can actually die in horizontal blinds and their pull-cords, so people should keep them out of reach of their cats where possible. Same with any "string" cat toy -- don't leave them out when not being played with -- cats can wrap themselves up and die. (Sorry, I have vet friends who have seen many cats injured and even killed this way, so the more you know...) George, I don't think Schwarzeneggar is being a Terminator here -- for me, I thought this was definitely one of Schwarzeneggar's best performances -- Reitman seems to get the best from him, as with Kindergarten Cop, especially showing a gentler, sweeter side of Arnold. I love that he really makes his character a believably kind, naive superman. The beautiful Kelly Preston was married to John Travolta and passed away from breast cancer about 10 years ago. She is best known to me for SpaceCamp and as Cruise's materialistic girlfriend in Jerry Maguire. And yes, Emily Blunt's plank/pushup move in "Edge of Tomorrow" is amazing.

I've not been a Patreon member for a while, but is the constantly looking down at what I'm guessing is your phone a new thing? It's just very distracting and you're missing non-verbal gags.

Might I recommend another great Danny DeVito movie, Renaissance Man

Underrated Sylvester Stallone comedy: OSCAR! It’s a classic farce, very silly, a lot of fun, shares a lot of DNA with Clue and has a fantastic Marisa Tomei performance, too. It was panned, but I think it was just that no one wanted that from Stallone? Idk I think it’s great.
