leaving another annoying comment about how yall should watch Look Back when possible but I also want to recommend another film (well trilogy) that inspired Reze Arc. Fujimoto took a lot of inspiration with Denji and Reze's relationship from Richard Linklater's "Before Trilogy" which follows in real time the relationship of an American and French tourist over the span of two decades, each installment follows them in real time and all were made roughly nine years apart from each other to capture real aging. It stars Ethan Hawke, who is also in another Linklater film that plays with time a lot, Boyhood.

SkepticApostle

Both versions of the movie on the cinebingers site are in dub.

Stuffy Thingy

Swede for the table

what...eng dub? or is there a way to change audio version?

Ashton Lewis

To parrot what other people are saying, I can only seem to find the dub version uploaded :/

Twiska Brand

Both versions are dubbed. I honestly don't mind dumbed or subbed, but I'd prefer to watch the version you guys watched, which I'm pretty sure was subbed.

Cinebinge

mistake in the export, both links are dub. exporting new one, should be up soon.

Thanks! By the way, I assume you always watch the sub, but it would be nice for future reference if you could clarify in the description or on the website video title which version you are watching. Because even though I prefer sub. If you guys watch a dubbed anime for whatever reason, I would prefer to watch the dub as well. It would feel weird to watch another version from what you are watching. Just a request!

A few fun facts: The spiderweb scene is also supposed to be Reze falling into Denji's "trap" cause she's actually falling for him there. The ending song "Jane Doe" (Sung by Hikaru Utada and Kenshi Yonezu) is supposed to be a duet because it's supposed to be Denji and Reze with lines like: Utada: "It’s as if we were the only two left in this world– I just couldn’t resist dreaming for a bit" and Kenshi's "Goldfish released into a rusty pool. An apple we hid in a shoebox. Scars left on your shriveled skin. Lost, we swam like a couple of dogs" Basically going over their doomed romance, that they both wanted despite knowing it couldn't be. By the end when Reze is running to the café, she knows that as long as Makima is involved, they can't be together but she still runs to Denji to try. - At ths pier for Denji and Reze's final bout, the building in the background has a countdown. - The assistant director revealed a deliberate contrast between the Reze and Makima dates, with Reze's being softly lit and calm in the Café, while Makima's is more dramatic in lighting/tone. It also counts as Makima's initial input on the "Country Mouse and City Mouse" question. Is one good movie worth 9 bad? Then her later input at the end is "It doesn't matter, you'll die anyway". Good peaks into Makima's character. - The movie that gets Denji and Makima to cry in the theater is a real Soviet movie from '56 called Ballad of a Soldier.

How do you tell if you're watching an anime, in an anime? 😏

I really hope you guys watch Cyberpunk: Edgerunners soon! And if you do, I recommend watching the English dub. One of the rare examples where I find the dub better than the sub.

Great reaction...a few hints everyone is missing on first watch... - watch the intro again, pay attention to the rats and crows watching denji and the crew while they walk - makima drinking denji's coffee and waving it while reeze sings - when Reze first meets Denji in the phone booth, she keeps her hand near her neck, meaning she was ready to kill him right then and there, but she had a change of heart when she saw his face

Seeing this in theaters changed my life.

I did think Japan might have a particular relationship with bombs. . .

I had seen some anime movies in theaters a few years before but seeing the Demon Slayer Movie and then this in theaters really helped highlight how gorgeous the animation truly could be.

The regenerative devils that just need blood and their body parts re-attached are the ones like Denji. Katana Man and now Reze. They have the weapon heads and are ordinary people until they activate themselves (rev ripcord, pull pin, unsheathe hand). Denji noticed this in the finale after he wins the fight and sword guy wakes, he says "you really are like me. pulled that katana out of your arm and your halves stuck back together". Fox devil also has the same reaction when eating Sword and Bomb. "I hate this taste. Neither human nor devil". Best not to power-scale the devils based on what "should" be more frightening irl, but for what it is worth, they will expand on that. Great reaction, love this animation, never thought I would see an anime movie in theaters. Per what Simone said at the end, I would absolutely subscribe for a reading of the manga, the next 2 arcs are some of the best comic material I have ever read. Last note, someone else mentioned "Cyberpunk Edgerunners", I second that, great, short, 10/10 dub, and full of themes that I can see you guys enjoying. "Delicious in Dungeon" is the fusion between Frieren and Food Wars that you need in your life as well, and very DnD coded. Thank youuuu, time to watch all your other stuff!

The trauma is still too strong, can't swim in the pool knowing I can't drown because reze taught us how to swim

What I love about Denji and Reze’s final fight is that she uses her bomb to explode behind Denji, pushing him forward towards her. He uses his chains to embrace her and pull her toward himself. They both used their devil powers to pull each other close and embrace. Denji removes his leg chainsaws so as not to injure Reze. By drowning together, they both fullfill their “work” mission of bringing down the other. But they also fulfill their personal desires of being together forever, even if in death in the abyss of the sea. Reze accepts Denji’s “plan” of them being together by using her final bomb to push both of them deep down into the ocean. Once they hit the ocean floor, Reze accepts this completely by leaning into Denji and resting her head on this shoulder, thus joining him forever in death, where they can always be together. Also in the pool scene, the spider is a catching a monarch butterfly, which is poisonous to predators. So while Reze captured Denji in her web, it also resulted in her death.

Will a new anime be replacing Chainsaw Man? Atleeast until season 2 comes out? If so I highly suggest Jujutsu Kaisen, it's one of my favorite newer generation animes as an "old" anime head. I truly love the story and the amazing fight scenes as well as the soundtrack

Xeco

I know the next anime is alredy recorded. But I hope Attack on titan is soon on the list

Aaron Stinson

“Shark boy” has the same voice actor as Tanjiro btw

Legacy

+1 to this. And also adding dub info, it’s based on a videogame set in a futuristic California, so you get a lot of different voice acting choices and accents — Mexican, Jamaican, Japanese characters speaking Japanese, New York accents, street slang, etc. It won Anime of the Year , so a lot of people have reacted to it, and it always kills me when people skip the dub 😭 the main character is literally a Mexican kid named David Martinez, the English version just fits the setting way better.

Legacy

It’s like they want us to feel pain. Shihei Lin, the Chainsaw Man editor, said in an interview: “From another perspective, Denji was able to fall asleep while embracing the girl he loved — it’s a happy scene. also Lending a girl your shirt is every guy’s dream.” I haven’t read the manga, but in beginning of the anime Denji tells Pochita about his dreams, and one of them is falling asleep next to a girl. That makes it even sadder because the editor is talking about when Denji and Reze sank to the bottom of the ocean unconscious together. I don’t think that’s what Denji had in mind when he was dreaming about falling asleep hugging a girl. 😢😢😢

I know, I am a little late but I didnt see it mentioned in the comments, so just in case you guys are interested: the movie Makima and Denji watch is "Ballada o soldata" or "ballad of a soldier", an old Soviet movie from 1959
