Wait you guys made Forget Me Not Annie?! That’s a crazy connection that Ive somehow never known, i remember watching that Markiplier video back when it came out. That is so cool! Funny how things come full circle

Nathan Jasper

YEEEESSSSS been looking forward to this all week!

Mike FromOz

Simone is 6'2"? Holy smokes!

Simon

A heads up that it looks like the left side of the movie footage is a bit too cropped (noticeable during the opening credits).

Cc Decc

No, she was doing a bit.

Dibbles

Trust me, the Game is not as detailed or good as the movie but it's still decent

Forkbeard83

If not playing Iron Lung (Game) yourself, Second Wind had a good play through on their YouTube channel last Halloween with JM8 and Yahtzee.

Mike FromOz

I dunno man, look at those wedding photos. She's been drinking Ent Juice.

Twiska Brand

Looks like the aspect ratio is too small for the website version. It cuts off parts of the screen, such as the opening credits.

Twiska Brand

George, the very first line of the movie explains that all the stars and planets have disappeared and that they are on a moon with an ocean of blood. Why did you think it was Earth, and why were you surprised when they talked about all the planets and stars disappearing around halfway into the movie?

Jasbro

If i remember the games creator was heavily involved in this as well, i think Mark and him are good friends irl since he credits Mark as the reason his game was a success. Heres hoping Jacksepticeyes Bloodborne project is equally as good, i know he loved the game so its in good hands.

Mastervodo

And has 7 tramp stamps in a line!

REDR58

“Marmite” sounds like a mineral and therefore terrible to eat.

nigel Macbug

so, any bonus content of Simone playing Iron Lung in VR?

Andrew

This movie went all Hellraiser at the end. I was expecting Pinhead to come out and that fat guy. It was ok. Could have easily cut 30 minutes. Markiplier was believable in the role and did a good job.

Cromulentius

Eh, not my jam. It's like a Secret Level episode, but stretched out waaayyy too long.

HanSwolo

More awesome (and critically acclaimed) horror films from youtubers: Obsession Backrooms Talk To Me Bring Her Back

Jonathan Eaton

Maybe it's just wishful thinking but it sounded to me like Simone is going to play GTA 6 on this channel.

Ari Ramirez

This was surprisingly good! Watched it a couple of weeks ago without looking too much into it and I was pleasantly surprised. Turns out Markiplier is a pretty good actor, who knew?

Ashton Lewis

I so badly want them to react to Talk to me and then Bring Her Back. I haven't seen Obsession or Backrooms yet, but I am looking forward to watching them both. It feels like we have been getting more Horror films recently though, so fingers crossed

I sent my parents to Australia -- my dad had always wanted to go. And the trip was supposed to include an extra week in New Zealand, but my dad, being my dad, got worried he was going to be out of work too long and cancelled the extra week. He told me he always regretted that. The next year I was going to send them down to Belize and Guatemala to see the Mayan ruins, but there was a lot of guerilla activity at the time, including entire buses full of tourists getting stopped and robbed, and I decided cool though it may have been....no. Tried to talk my godfather into going with them as a bodyguard -- surprisingly he wasn't having it. :p

I loved this movie. I'm pretty easy on criticizing things if I see it has heart and the artists behind it worked their asses off. I don't really need do that with Iron Lung because even if it's a low-budget indie movie self-financed by a YouTuber, it's genuinely a great piece of sci-fi horror. the final act was incredibly impressive not just visually but from a thematic and storytelling perspective. I didn't think it'd go that hard. this felt fresh and original in a way that's become increasingly rarefied in film over the last ten or fifteen years. David Szymanski made the game. it's a short 45 minute experience and it's pretty good, but the movie is miles better. one of the rare instances where the adaptation is better than the source. David also made boomer shooter DUSK and is working on Thief-inspired im-sim GLOOMWOOD. all of his games have a retro-PS1 style aesthetic, but it's distinctly his and it feels like an artistic choice rather than a limitation. I knew of Markiplier before this, as I'm sure anyone with a youtube account does, but I never got into his content. seeing this, though, I have to say I'm excited to see what he does next. he said he plans on taking a break from filmmaking but that he'll do another movie. I have no idea what it will be but I will give it a fair shot, whatever the genre. Man, 2026 is such an exciting time for first-time filmmakers.

BellaBlue

I didn't join the watch along but was just curious what others thought now that it has been posted. Interesting mix of views which I def respect. I tend to see around 100 films a year.. (so far this year I'm at an even 50 so far in 2026 after the movie I watched today) and this is in bottom 5 of the year so far for me. I don't mean that as a critique to anyone who enjoyed it, but just my experience. I do always enjoy reading other views on things such as this to try and give me another perspective on a film which I did not vibe with so I'm enjoying reading all the comments on those of you who did vibe w it.

michael cross

I think you should watch the modern evil dead trilogy. I still havnt seen burn yet. But the 2013 evil dead is my personal favorite horror movie because out of most horror films that scenario to get stuck in is my worst nightmare lol. And unlike george, realistic horror aka (human non supernatural killers) dont really scare me because 1, im a decently big guy and 2, im an american with quite alot of firepower 😂

PIG

Never heard of this. Checking it out just for watch along and it seems like a neat movie.

Dee Aitch

I'm out of the loop, George and Simone made a video game?

Ashton Lewis

I watched it for the first time here and unfortunately for me I did not enjoy it at all. A Horror film about exploring the deep (in a sea of blood no less) sounds right up my alley, as a Horror fanatic with a fear of the deep ocean, but I was just bored for 99% of it. I'm glad others were able to enjoy it, but it's not something I'd watch again. As others have mentioned, if you want to see YouTubers making awesome Horror films, watch Talk to me and Bring Her Back

I was fighting sleep in the second half of the reaction, but I assume you figured out that "iron lung" refers to the submarine itself. George, a submersible can steer in place or make a zero-radius turn by the use of its various external thrusters, just like a spacecraft does in space. We see a bit of this in "The Abyss." Gotta disagree with the discussion of there not being too much exposition in this movie. I felt like it was nearly *all exposition.* The acting by Mark Edward Fischbach was quite good, but after awhile the incessant screaming of the different people on the other end of the radio got to be a bit much. I wish we had gotten at least one shot of the overall submarine other than what I assume was just a view of its bow during the opening launch scene. George asked where all the blood came from and that is a very good question. According to Google's AI answer (take it for what you will) the total approximate volume of all the blood from every human (about 5 liters per person multiplied by 8.3 billion humans) in the world works out to be about 40 to 45 billion liters and that would fill a cube measuring roughly 34.6 meters on a side, or it fill about 16,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools. A bit more research on Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/theydidthemonstermath/comments/cjk1x1/how_may_liters_of_human_blood_are_there_in_the/ "To answer the second half of OP's question, if all the blood were put in a lake 1 meter deep, the lake would only be 36 square kilometers in surface area. For context, Lake Michigan has a surface area of 58000 square kilometers." Additionally, the total volume of all of the blood of every human who has ever lived works out to be about less than 1/3rd the volume of Lake Erie: www.reddit.com/r/theydidthemath/comments/1kinyou/request_is_the_blood_of_every_human_who_ever/ Hardly an "ocean" by any definition. And so, it was magic. The premise of this movie was just a bit too outlandish and aside from the acting by the lead and some of the production design and general look of the film, I unfortunately didn't like it all that much. The whole thing fell apart for me right around the time he started hearing voices and it just dissolved into a flood of so much blood and gore it stopped being remotely horrifying and was just a clotted mess. But I'm happy to see that it did very well for the director and am interested in seeing more of his work in movies. (Edited)

I think this movie is pretty close to perfect for me. Its just everything I want from this type of movie, with 1 exception. I wish at the end it was cut a few seconds earlier so we never knew if the floaty black box was found or not. Yeah for a first big outing, holy fuck this is awesome! "Stardew valley is so stressful" might be the most adorable thing I have heard in a long while 😂

DanielK

Hope you guys watch obsession and backrooms too. This is an incredible year for new horror filmmakers

Brandon

Very good movie. Especially for a directorial debut. I know it's a "me" problem, but I have a hard time not picturing Markiplier raging out at Rubber Ross's Mario Maker levels. When he yells or gets angry that's just where my mind takes me. 😅

BellaBlue

Yes both the other films u mentioned are great and I’ve requested numerous times here. I’d be nice and call IL tedious. Jmo

Philipp Roensch

Exactly the experience I wanted from it as well. In cinemas the crowd was really hype for it. I do love the slow burn in the beginning, intense closeups and a banger score. The team did really well and Mark is acting very comitted.

Dorian Cantu

Ok so basically: The Moon/planetoid he's on is one singular organism (like Ego the living planet from Marvel) the blood ocean, the eel monster, everything. The blood assimilates and merges organic matter (hence the "salvation" declaration, every victim claimed merges with the overall hivemind), the eel monster is amalgamated from the dead crew of the previous ship it ate and this overall entity is psychic that's why it was messing with Simon's head (and somehow manipulated the previous crew to drink the blood), when the blood was flowing into the ship it was turning it into an organic being and assimilating it (hence the oxygen going up) The giant eye is the interdimensional god-like being that accidentally erased planets and stars out of existence, the living blood moon planet thing was afraid of said God-like entity and just wanted to feed/assimilate with any humans dumb enough to go exploring into it.

Elijah

The narrator at the beginning is the sounds exactly like the opening narrator for Frostpunk which Mark has said is one of his favourite games. If anyone enjoyed the epic narration from the opening I would highly recommend watching the opening cutscene for Frostpunk

zona999

"Under The Skin". Stars Scarlett Johansson. Terrifying.

Ashton Lewis

YES! Evil Dead 2013 might be my favourite Horror film too, much to the chagrin of Sam Raimi purists out there. And specifically because that is the worst scenario I can imagine myself in too haha. Hopefully they pop it on the agenda
