Ellen bugs me a person but this movie is enjoyable

This is such a nostalgia bomb, I must have watched the DVD of this about 500 times when I was a kid. The fact that it heavily features my home Sydney is also a big plus. It’s got such a great emotional center and is genuinely hilarious, I think it might be one of the funniest Pixar movies by joke-per-minute. Finding Dory is also a great follow up to this as well!

Life in the cave of Garanoga

Oh, fuck yeah. Peak Pixar right here. I have a niece who was born a few years ago with a few missing fingers and this is one of the movies we love to watch. "Just keep swimming".

Sorry if this is a spoiler for The Odyssey but in the story, Odysseus and his men encounter a cyclops and the cyclops eats two of his men but stops to ask Odysseus his name before he eats him. Odysseus replies “nobody (nemo)” and when the cyclops is confused, Odysseus attacks the cyclops and blinds him.

I think that the reaction business and the consumers need to find a happy ground when it comes to new movies. There's effectively infinite amount of content available to react to as far as movies and tv shows. You guys shouldn't feel guilty about going to the movies once in a while. Plus, your channel already has movies that one of you has already seen so it wouldn't really break the normal format if you did. As for the question about learning common story and film tropes and such, that's part of why I love this channel. You are both very film and entertainment literate so it makes the commentary and talk so much better. I am the type who will talk about the angle use and framing in a scene while everyone else is talking about the death in that scene lol.

2026-09-13 17:00 There’s no reason you can’t see a film at the cinema and then watch it again for the channel. Just mention you’ve already seen it, and I’m sure most people wouldn't mind. I know I wouldn’t—I can’t physically get to the cinema anymore, and this channel is my way of watching films.

Great score by Thomas Newman. He also did Road to Perdition, for my money one of the best scores ever (and a great movie)

Cam

S tier Pixar right here

Welcome to Coral's Jr., I love you.

About the opening convo and Simone having fiber optic Internet 10 miles away: Funny story: I live on a street that serves as a border between my village and the closest big city. Side effect number one: The houses on my side of the street are numbered using the metric system. So I live at number 305 because it's 305 meters from the bottom of the street. But the houses across the street are numbered 2, 4, 6, 8, etc... So I live at number 305 and the house across the street is number 30. Confuses the hell out of pizza delivery drivers. Side effect number two: For 10 years I was disqualified from having fiber optic Internet because my village officially didn't have it, but the people across the street HAD IT. - I'm sorry sir, you address doesn't qualify for fiber optic. - But I can SEE the cable. I can literally GRAB the cable with my hand. It's 5 meters away!

The sequel is worth it.

Simone, you may have internet options. My grandpa was living just outside of an area with fiber optic internet (not sure how far exactly), and the company said that they could extend coverage if the customer paid for the extension and installation. It cost 23K to do the extension, but my grandpa split the cost with 9 other people who also wanted fiber optic near him, so it only cost each person $2300.

The throat size thing is true. I actually just read Whalefall which talks about that so it’s fresh in my mind

Incoming Yap, sorry I've followed reaction content since I was in elementary school and I DREAMED of the day for people to make content watching movies and shows to give their thoughts I remember always checking YouTube but, all that was around was reactions to trailers and random videos and then 💥, out of nowhere it was a whole Renaissance with channel after channel coming out of the woodwork and their are plenty of channels I follow for specific reasons, that I've put in their own little categories for the type of react content I'm looking to watch at the moment. You two make some of my favorite content, an issue I've always had is the effort put into the video itself and the way the reactors express their opinions and their personalities as I had to unfollow an individual who just took a dive straight into ultra conservative dude bro macho man. And to add on it's also the direction the channel itself takes, no shade to The Reel Rejects as I have been following their content for a LONG time and do enjoy it still but, they seem to have taken a much more corporate route with all the talks about who to pair for reactions and when to schedule specific people, paychecks, bonuses, being referred to as employees and with videos having varying degrees of effort in the discussion so I find it difficult to have that connection there anymore. And while there are channels I do really love and watch often It's the two of you and The Media Knights who are top tier channels for me because I know coming into the videos I will get plenty of wonderful discussion discussed by great personalities :) THANK YOU

blerbaberpaterb

yeah but then she'll have to give money to one of the worst people in the world.

I have a feeling that the second one is just a "toy story 4" situation, has anyone seen that one?

Be Human

I'm noticing a reoccurring theme in Disney movies, they like to start off by separating a child from his parents through either misfortune or death.

Maiki

It's not as good as this one, but it's still a lot of fun and definitely worth a watch.

We used to disrupt classes in high school by quietly starting the Sharkbait chant without the teacher noticing, until eventually the entire class was chanting

This movie reminds me of my ex-wife. It is my first Pixar movie I saw in the theater. My ex-wife is a big Disney fan. Guess where we went for our honey moon? I hadn't been to Dineyworld since I was about 4 to 5. We got married in late October of 2004. It was really hot but cool in Virginia then.

They were In Search Of…

REDR58

I’m less interested in reactions to relatively new movies than older stuff so if my opinion is worth anything, go see new movies! At least sometimes.

REDR58

Which is a very interesting movie they should watch! It came out in 1954.

The house numbers in the US are generally even numbers on one side of the street and odd on the other. My street house numbers are like that, but rather than being completely sequential, there are big (or small) gaps in the number between houses. In my case, my neighbor on the one side who literally has his mailbox right next to mine has number 579 and mine is 591, yet the neighbor on the other side of my lot is number 609. All of the houses on our street and the neighboring streets have seemingly random gaps between the houses numbers.

There are an estimated hundreds of thousands of naval mines still resting on the seafloor or floating in oceans worldwide. While many are unexploded relics from World War I and World War II, over 50 countries still actively maintain and deploy modern sea mines as strategic military weapons. There could be over 3000 of them in the area of The Barrier Reef.

And I thought it was Finding Nimue, starring Isabella Rossellini. I guess I'll have to keep waiting for Merlin (1998).

Copy-paste: The name Nemo is the Latin translation of the Ancient Greek word Outis ("Nobody"), which was the pseudonym adopted by the hero Odysseus to outwit the Cyclops Polyphemus in Homer's Odyssey. In the myth, Odysseus blinds Polyphemus and claims his name is "Nobody" (or Outis); when the Cyclops screams that "Nobody" has hurt him, his fellow Cyclopes ignore his cries for help, allowing Odysseus to escape. This etymological link is famously utilized by Jules Verne for his character Captain Nemo in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas, who similarly embodies a mysterious, elusive figure of the deep.

For me, the overall appeal of Reactions is to re-capture the feeling I had when I first watched something. By its nature, that often applies more to older films and TV shows because those are the ones that I've seen multiple times and have had long-term exposure to analyses and examinations and critical dissection. So with somebody coming in and watching it for the First Time, I can set aside all of the Long and Complicated Thoughts that I have and go "Wow, this makes me feel like it's brand new again!" For something newer, there really isn't that same change. It's till fresh in my mind, so it's not the same return to an earlier feeling. I still get SOMETHING out of Reactions to newer things -- if I didn't I wouldn't watch them at all -- but it's a distinct separation.

JumpTroopC5

I think the takeaway from the pre-movie talk is that we need a voiceover of your inner monologues. I am kidding but would be funny for one episode to have a friend do a random voiceover of how you are feeling when you are quiet. Also, George i dont think you have an annoying voice. I am sure people here feel the same way but helps to hear it.

fwfwfwfwf wfwfw

i waited along time to see the reaction on this one :-)

fwfwfwfwf wfwfw

does anyone else feel like a cross between dori and the chicken from moana?

For the record about the conversation in the beginning. Idk why people dislike george. I love both of you guys and BOTH of you make cinebinge. I have like 5 subscriptions on patreon and by far you guys are my favorite. I can confidantly say i cant see myself unsubscribing from you. You were also my first patreon subscription from either july or august 2 years ago. Haters just love too hate. Don't change yourself unless YOU think its something that needs too change

Finding Dory is my go to movie whenever I get too high. It's suddenly very relatable.

Interesting conversation about the ups and downs of the Reactor life at the beginning there.

I'm watching the uncut version and I don't want to be the guy that says "Ah don't listen to the negative comments" because shitty people will always find a way to be shitty people and make it known to the rest of us. So instead I'll counter the negative comments with a positive one to try to tips the scales more. Simone is one of the most genuine reactors I've ever seen. She's sweet, wholesome, fantastically funny (the Polly Pocket bit was hilarious!) and incredibly kind. George is very intelligent, has an incredible smile, infectious laugh, and I know way more about Chinese culture from his intelligent input. I wouldn't have known to the extent of the history of China and how deep the influence went when watching them react to "Avatar the Last Airbender". I find myself getting excited when someone in movies speaks in Mandarin or Cantonese just to see if its up to George's standards. One scene in particular that stands out came from Kevin J. O'Connor's character "Beni" in "The Mummy" speaking a Mandarin prayer towards the titular mummy and George's responds was, "That's not bad". Which is big praise for one of my FAVORITE movies! You two are the best!

Matthew Corya

In the end credits you see the tank fish escaped the bags.

Hans Czajkowski Jørgensen

This was such a good reaction, G&S. Not only the movie itself, but you reflecting on your experience being on this channel. You have done Cinebinge for so long that it just seems like the right thing to do. Having watched you for a number of years now, it somehow deepened my appreciation of what you do. I'm fighting really hard here to keep a healthy distance and not form a parasocial relationship in my mind :-) Anyways. Love you guys. Just keep on Cinebinging, keep on Cinebinging...

Joey Cruz

If Simone has already viewed the film, shouldn’t George have been on the thumbnail? 🤔🤓

jmundt33a

Defending Your Life is quite entertaining.

Jay Johnson

it is hardly unique to disney. most stories that have a kid as a main character usually have some way to get their parents out of the picture so that the kid(s) have to face the challenges on their own instead of having their parents fix it for them

Jay Johnson

it seems most reactors seem to think that every reaction video has to be "first time watching". And I suppose first time viewings are cool and all. But I don't mind reaction videos on rewatches. For instance, I had no problems with their videos of them rewatching the LotR movies for the umpteenth time

Jay Johnson

Simone's intro spiel "like and subscribe or I will find you" had me imagining her doing the Liam Neeson monologue from 'Taken'

John E. Dunn

Screw those people George...we love you bro!

DemNikoArt

Aaaaaaw you read my questions! Thank you so much!!! 🫶 And the answers were as interesting as I was hoping 😃

Simon Bergquist

what was the rules again about asking for movies or shows?

RumHamEnjoyer

I'll admit, the corny puns or dad jokes George likes to make rarely get a reaction from me. I don't actively hate them but typically just kinda roll my eyes and perhaps smile internally. But when he said 'he's a gefilter fish' that made me laugh out loud and I legit had to pause the video for a minute 😂. That was freaking hilarious lol. Well done George and I sincerely enjoyed both of your reactions to this movie. Keep up the great work!

Shibby

Yea that was top tier lol

REDR58

That boat that took Nemo should have stopped displaying its red and white dive flag as soon as the divers had exited the water and not continue to fly it as it sped away. Australia use the blue and white "alpha" flag to signal divers in the water. The red and white dive flag seen in the movie is only used in North America. The submarine is a Gato or Balao class US Navy submarine, with a hull number of C(?)-22. The USS Blackfin, a Balao class boat had a hull number of S-322 but was not sunk in combat, but instead used as a target. The Trivia on IMDb states the submarine is the “USS Flier (SS-250), a Gato Class boat which was sunk by a mine on a war patrol out of Brisbane.” In any case, there are apparently no real submarine wrecks off the coast of Queensland. I like how Nemo is always moving his little fin! Bloat the pufferfish, is voiced by Brad Garrett, who played “Dim” in “A Bug’s Life” and Auguste Gusteau in “Ratatouille.” The sharks who didn’t want to eat fish immediately brought to mind “Shark Tale” where Jack Black as played Lenny, the vegetarian shark. Anyway, this movie was a lot of fun. First time watch for me.

Fister Miyagi

Did you tell her it was because of that same damn baracuda? I totally would lol

PluePlue

George, if it makes you feel any better, I hate Simone just as much as you... I'm just kidding, I love both of y'all. Ignore the haters. Y'all are amazing!

Nemo

My profile pic is of captain nemo in that book. :) One of my all time favorites.

parker469a

"Captain Nemo is the enigmatic, morally complex anti-hero of Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. He is the brilliant creator and commander of the advanced submarine Nautilus. A former Indian prince (originally Prince Dakkar), he severed ties with humanity to wage a solitary, vengeful war against imperialism while seeking freedom in the depths of the ocean."

Mike W

I appreciate the sacrifice of missing going to see new movies. I prefer it when something new is mixed in and it's not a complete nostalgia fest. The experience is different with a new movie that I might not have seen yet or only once rather than a dozen times

u_mike

A fun trivia mentioned on the DVD commentary: Darla was actually based on one of the producers and she did not think it was funny.

Nebula

I love this movie, I’m so glad you guys got around to it. PLEASE watch Finding Dory!

Anodyne

Speaking of the voice actors, Bruce the Shark was voiced by the legendary Barry Humphries...

Dustin Duvall

If y'all watch finding dory before bad boys 2, I'll be writing a strongly worded complaint lol

Amar

Can you please watch the new film “Obsession”? Thank you

Tyler Explains It All

For me when I read a book, I read the last page or chapter so I know how the story ends. I'm that person.

Angela D. Mitchell

This is such a gentle, smart movie, and so beautiful to look at. And Thomas Newman's score is gorgeous! I love the voice performances, and while it was disappointing that Ellen Degeneres turned out not to live by her "be kind" motto in real life, I think her vocal performance here is so incredibly good, and so moving. Dory is a wonderful character. I also loved hearing Geoffrey Rush, Willem, Dafoe, Allison Janney, as well as Stephen Root. And "Finding Dory" is great! It's cute and charming. It's not quite the masterpiece this one is, but it's absolutely worth watching.

GAB

In "The Odyssey" by Homer, Odysseus calls himself "Οὔτις" or "Nobody" to trick the Cyclops Polyphemus. The Latin word for nobody is "nemo". The name was used by Jules Verne for the character of Captain Nemo in his novels "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas" (1870) and "The Mysterious Island" (1875). Charles Dickens also used a character named Nemo in "Bleak House" in 1852-53. The true names of the characters are Prince Dakkar and Captain James Hawdon respectively.

Divinerights

Finding Dory is actually decent.

BigGuy209

Albert Brooks movies you guys should check out. Defending Your Life (1991) Mother (1996) The Scout (1994) Real Life (1979) Broadcast News (1987) This is 40 (2012)

Life in the cave of Garanoga

Your PIXAR journey wont be complete without watching "Win or Lose" (2025). It's 7 short episodes, about 2hrs and 50 min total runtime. So, it could be done as a long movie or a short show. But I highly recommend it. It's so fucking good and doesn't get talked about enough. I don't think anyone can make it through all 7 episodes without finding at least one incredibly personal. I've had one of the songs from the end credits of an episode on my regular playlist since it came out lol. "The Joke is on Me" by Campfire.

Elijah

FISHY WHY ARE YOU SLEEPING?

Finding Dory is definitely worth it. Maybe even better. Extra trivia. On an interview show, Mel Brooks was once asked who made him laugh. He said the funniest person he knew was a 13-year-old kid named Albert Einstein. When that kid grew up, in tribute to Mel, he took the stage name, "Albert Brooks." His brother is the comedy stuntman Super Dave Osborne.

Christina Bee

Elemental is another really solid Pixar movie.

The whale has a uvula? So it must be a girl.

I never get tired of this movie! You guys should def watch finding Dory, its so fun! Also, can I request the Sheep Detectives, that one surprised me with how great it is. More people need to see it, its really funny and surprisingly deep.
