The silly speaking priest is played by Peter Cook, an old-school British comedian who was the inspiration to many such as the gang from Monty Python.

That Peter Falk "As you wish" always makes me tear up

I super enjoyed this reaction! Holy crap, it was so much fun to watch! :) Very happy that I watched this with you both.

Oh! I just watched that version of the song and wow!! It was very moving. I had no idea that Mandy could sing like that. :) Very happy surprise!

George: There is a book, and it is honestly better than the movie. It's definitely worth reading. The Dread Pirate Roberts will always bother me as a huge plothole: He "leaves no survivors," so according to the movie, nobody fights him. But the problem is, he kills EVERYONE he encounters even if they surrender so why wouldn't they fight even harder? Even Westley tells us DPR killed people who surrendered. So then Westley became this guy who murdered innocent people daily? And then he wanted Inigo to take over? I mean, it's crazy to even make sense in the universe. Grr. I also really hate the movie's scene of Westley literally abusing Buttercup for believing he was dead. I mean, not just dead, but FIVE YEARS DEAD. And forced to marry this assh*le. And Westley is threatening to hit her for it. It's super gross and does not age well. Meanwhile: Chris Sarandon (Prince Humperdinck) is a wonderful actor -- you may have seen him in the original "Fright Night" -- I don't think you've reacted to it yet, but it's fantastic (the remake is really good to). The final plothole always bothers me that suddenly Inigo knows (1) the scream is Westley and (2) that he is undergoing ultimate suffering out of love for Buttercup. We see no reason onscreen for him to know this. I do love the movie, but for me the book is better -- the movie is almost too slapsticky and misses more of the lovely moments from the book that balance it out. Also, I love Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits!), who wrote the score for LOCAL HERO (a perfect movie), but his score here frequently feels cheap and too synth-heavy for me. The acoustic guitar aspects of the score however are really lovely. Simone, since you love Mandy as a singer -- please tell me you watched the musical "Sunday in the Park with George" (recording of the award-winning Bway show on YT)? I saw him live in concert in 2009 and it was amazing. He was also fantastic singing Lt. Cable in the operatic version of "South Pacific" with Kiri Tekanawa (you can find that on YT etc.).

The final plothole always bothers me that suddenly Inigo knows (1) the scream is Westley and (2) that he is undergoing ultimate suffering out of love for Buttercup. We see no reason onscreen for him to know this. It's been a while since I have seen this movie, and I can't remember how he knows it's Wesley, but I DO KNOW that he knows it's someone "undergoing ultimate suffering" because Inigo says in the movie he made the same noise when his father died.

I personally believe that the old woman in Buttercup's nightmare was a representation of Buttercup herself as an old maid. Talking so intimately about what happened as if she knew personally, and they have the same eyes. I'm pretty sure that's what the director was thinking too, with how intensely they focus on both of their eyes by the time she wakes up.

I know I’m way late to this, but are you aware there’s a version of Deadpool 2 where DP kidnaps Fred Savage, the kid from this movie, as an adult and reads to him the story of Deadpool 2 as a Christmas story? It’s called Once Upon a Deadpool.

This is a great movie to watch if you're already giggly, lol.

I'm so glad you guys watched this! Mandy Patinkin btw cries to this day when he talks about this movie and discusses how special he feels to have been a part of this cast. It meant that much to him. Andre The Giant had to have Mandy phonetically say his lines for him and he had so many back problems he couldn't lift anything so every scene where he is holding them, their weight was held by wires. He used to warm Robin up by just placing his hand on the top of her head and she laughs that his hand was so big it was like a hat.

Texas Anla'Shok

You saying this looks like D&D set suddenly makes perfect sense if this is the kid’s imagining of it. If you want more of Mandy singing, you should check him out in Evita.

At this time in Andre The Giants life his Acromegaly(the condition that caused his size) plus his years as a wrestler caused him to live in chronic pain. so while I Agree that Andre the Giant could probably do the feats of strength depicted in the movie, all of those scenes were shot with assistance for the weight in accommodation for Andre. He was also really appreciative of the cast and crew for not staring at him like a freak, and on the last day of filming stayed as long as he could on set to take pictures with anyone who asked. such a kind soul RIP

I literally just watched Mandy and his wife reacting to a tiktok of a girl whose Dad loved The Princess Bride and she was asking him a question about the Count Rougen death scene. Warning the tiktok is emotional but I highly recommend. His tiktok user name is mandypatinktok
