I always figured the robber dancing at the start is because he was waiting for ages for Willis to open the door and he was dying for a piss

if you liked Luc Besson and Milla Jovovich (Lilou), I advice you to watch "Joan of Arc" or sometimes called "the messenger : the story of Joan of Arc"... - it's a really nice movie, and an interesting take of the story of Joan of Arc :)

Amelie W

I'd put Milla Jovovich up with Keanu Reeves or Jackie Chan among the greatest, hardest working physical actors alive. Though she stars in some staggeringly bad movies (Ultraviolet if you ask me, the Resident Evil series if you ask fans of the videogames) she always makes them worth watching.

Just finished the movie with you guys. You may have missed what they were suggesting at the end of the movie, with the Moon, and the new moon Earth now has.

The Fifth Element was the most expensively produced French movie at the time (yes, it's French), so expensive in fact that director Luc Besson had to stop pre-production in order to wait to find extra funding. In the interum he wrote and directed another movie called 'Léon: The Professional' which is very different to Fifth Element but believed to be the peak of Besson's career. It stars Jean Reno, Gary Oldman, and Natalie Portman in her first acting gig. Also, if you're keen to check out another cool Bruce Willis science-fiction movie I recommend 'Twelve Monkeys' directed by Terry Gilliam (who even though happens to be a distinguished director in his own right, is also a member of the Monty Python gang).

You have to watch "Léon: The Professional" - same director (Luc Besson) and composer (Eric Serra). Besson also did the original "La Femme Nikita" film, it;s in French though so you have to watch with subtitles, but it is also a great movie. The singer who did the recording for Diva Plavalaguna aria is Inva Mula, here is the original recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWFYBT5KU1o The last portion was digitally enhanced though, it's not technically possible for a human singer to hit such sudden range changes and high notes. Nevertheless, a wonderful piece, one of my favourites.

Your conversation about Boron triggered my memory. You had mentioned dungeons and dragons on occasion in past videos, if you haven't seen it already there's a great indie movie called The Gamers: Dorkness Rising that is a very well done parody of dnd I'm sure you would like

It's kind of obscure and outdated now, but the 1981 animated film "Heavy Metal" was definitely an influence on this movie, especially the mysterious and evil orb, the future New York with flying cars, and the cab driver character. Plus it mostly had a similar campy humor vibe to it. The animation didn't age well obviously but it was kind of groundbreaking at the time. Well all I'm gonna say about Luc Besson is, this and Leon: The Professional are great, and leave it at that. Also, if you do watch Leon, I don't recommend the extended version. Someone else mentioned "Twelve Monkeys" with Bruce Willis, highly recommend that, it's one of my favorite movies, and by one of my favorite directors, Terry Gilliam, and yes he was part of Monty Python, the animator and co-director on Holy Grail (and the only non-Brit in Python). Oh man I love Gary Oldman. Another great movie featuring the chameleon, is "True Romance", you might not even know it was him so hopefully I didn't spoil that, but if it'll get more people to watch that movie haha, I do really like that one too, and it seems like not a lot of people have even heard of it.

Love your guys chemistry, haha isn’t this movie great?!! Luc Besson really created such an amazing world where you wished you were apart of it. The soundtrack is so good too, SO good. It felt very multi-cultural. I was tryna correlate it with maybe it had to do with the population being 200 billion. Like every culture is just mixed in all together now. I don’t know. Haha but everything fitted perfectly.

Since you're on the sci-fi train I suggest reacting to the Firefly series if you haven't seen it yet. It's only 14 episodes and a movie.

Fun reaction again, guys! Gary Oldman is the male Mystique of recent decades' films. I’m always curious but have never seen It indicated anywhere online if Baby Ray was intentionally similar to Martin Gore…. While Martin is, of course, so much smaller Baby Ray's appearance is so much like his especially in that era - but also facial expressions and physical mannerisms have a lot in common. Silly fun pointless wondering, you know.

Oh, and if ever curious you can watch/listen to a woman sing along live with the pop second half of the Diva Dance song here for a casual example: https://youtu.be/bgo0CDL6bd0 There are other finds out online but I’m partial to that vid as it’s well done but in a casual style voice… The singing for those with high flexibility is doable, but for the movie the unnatural/digitized augmentation had to be done in production. While there are singers who can sound like that they don’t tend to overlap with opera singers lol.

I saw this in the theaters like 6 times and it’s funny you mentioned that it was Star Wars-y because some of the TV ads after it was out four a couple of weeks quoted a review that called it “a Star Wars for a new generation.” Glad you enjoyed it!
