So, I think you said George, that you read all the comments. If so, go back and rewatch the sequence where Arnold enters the Exotic Club and meets "The Brunette" and "Tony" hassles him like a Pimp would. Go to IMdb to see who the actor is that plays Tony, and if you don't remember his name/face, go to his IMdb page to see what he's most famous for. I was surprised that I was right just now... fun.

Arnold was uncredited in "The Long Goodbye" directed by Robert Altman 1973.

I love this movie. When I first saw it I was way too young, and it terrified me. It’s a classic though. Some fun stuff. This movie is based on a Phillip K. Dick story called ‘We Can Remember It For You Wholesale.’ It’s a good story, but I prefer the movie. If you want to keep rolling with Arnold movies similar to this, The Running Man(1987) is really awesome. The movie is considered to be the second in Paul Verhoevens science fiction trilogy. The movies have nothing to do with each other, but RoboCop(1987), Total Recall(1990) and Starship Troopers(1997) are all incredible satires that hold up in almost every way a movie can. There is a fourth movie, Hollow Man(2000), but it’s not a great film. It might be worth watching, not sure if I would do a reaction though. If you want to watch a movie about a invisible man, I would suggest The Invisible Man(2020).

Really good feedback and awesome suggestions from someone nice. This is a 10/10 comment, friends.

The Inedible Mattman!

lol This is such a fun, bizarre, bonkers movie. Incidentally, the remake in 2012 is a decent action sci/fi film of its time, but no where NEAR as good as this. It takes itself far too seriously, but it is a guilty pleasure film of mine. You should consider watching it! The story for this movie is all about "what is real". It's meant to make you question whether or not the story is actually happening. Keep in mind from the moment he gets to Rekall, every detail that's explained to him ends up happening. He kills the bad guys, saves the girl, saves the entire planet! When they were setting up his ego trip, the one guy even says "blue skies on Mars? That's new" and that's what we see at the end. You're never sure if he does all this after he goes under for the implant, or if it's all just the implant we're experiencing. And FYI ... Mars has 2 moons. Phobos and Deimos. :)

The Inedible Mattman!

OMG you have to watch Starship Troopers now. The same director, and his style is amazing when you finally understand him. It's always the most over the top stuff. And Arnold got really into comedy for a while too. Good Arnold movies to consider: Kindergarden Cop, Twins, and Last Action Hero. Great films!

OkieBoomer

Hey, am I missing out on how to sync up? I'm not seeing any time stamps. Help!!

Cinebinge

Hi, yeah unfortunately this one was one of the older movies where it had a 23.978fps and i couldnt get a timecode that matches it correctly. However, at 4:50 we do a countdown of "1-2-3 Play". and if you are watching a very old copy, then at 5:17 is when the Carolco production company logo animation begins.

Your intro to the wonderful worlds of Paul Veerhoven.

xD I super dug on this! THANK YOU FOR WATCHING IT! xD I watched this one originally as a youngster and whoa.. the things my folks let me watch. hahaha, then again, I also watched The Terminator and The Terminator II: Judgement Day at a very young age as well. My parents just didn't mind me seeing violence, it seems. Anyway though! Super dug on this reaction. I had the same issue as OkieBoomer - the video was way out of sync for a majority of the movie. Had to go back and pause/resume a number of times. Not upset though! Just letting ya know. I was watched the Netflix version, as well. Not positive where you were watching it from. :)

Definitely have to do Robocop and Starship Troopers. Robocop is the more “grounded” of the 3 Verhoeven sci fi action movies. By comparison atleast. It’s still a great crazy movie that I absolutely love and adore.

Einherj

Like others have said: Robocop (1987) and Starship Troopers (1997) are great. Paul Verhoeven is still the king of satire and those two movies are his best.

I don't know, I'll have to replay the tape but I saw the civilian on the escalator get shot just a split second before Arnold grabbed him and started using him as a human shield lol Fun reaction! You two are funny, love the banter and hearing the movie pitches you come up with trying to guess what these movies are about 🤣 I see a lot of recos for other Paul Verhoeven movies, I just wanna plug more Philip K Dick film and TV adaptations, some of them are awesome, all of them are at least interesting. Obviously there's Blade Runner, probably the best, definitely the most iconic, but other great ones like A Scanner Darkly and The Man In The High Castle. Yeah, so Simone asked about the writers on this masterpiece, one of them I was surprised to notice in the opening credits was Dan O'Bannon, director of the cult classic "Return of the Living Dead", so of course Arnold somehow turns Mars (without a magnetic field, and without explaining how, but I imagine is in the story somehow possible) into Utah, basically. Oh yeah, but Mars does have btw two small moons, unless they've been downgraded since I was a kid like Pluto did lol I'm not sure

REDR58

That male civilian was definitely dead before Quaid used him as a shield

REDR58

Great reaction but I recommend you watch these movies with subtitles on as you missed a rather crucial bit of dialogue explaining what the reactor was for when we first see the sweeping views of the underground alien structures.

Paul Davey

Arnold fights bad guy on elevator, bad guy loses arms and falls to his death. Arnold punchline: 'He got to the choppa!'

Kevin Townsend

You should check out True Lies. That's my favorite Schwarzenegger movie. Directed by James Cameron. Unfortunately, I can't find it streaming anywhere.

Githerax

Philip K Dick stories inspired many great movies; Blade Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report (I highly recommend), Adjustment Bureau (also very fun), and Paycheck (too bad it stars Ben Affleck). I'd love to see you react to Minority Report if you haven't seen it already.

Githerax

Also, I just noticed Simone's phone and I have to wonder- why?

Quinton Bakies

Just became a patron as I found myself watching all your YouTube content. Watching you watch these movies for the first time is like getting to experience them again myself. You are so genuine and entertaining. Paul Verhoeven is one of my favorite directors. Robocop, Starship Troopers, Basic Instinct, Showgirls, Hollow Man, Flesh + Blood…such a wonderful eclectic director. You should certainly watch as many of his films as possible!

Middy

Arnold Schwarzenegger named his autobiography Total Recall and I don't think I've ever heard a more appropriate title in my life.

Ironclad Nomad

Really cool story about Michael Ironside. Since he was in high school, he'd worked in roofing, necessitated by his family situation growing up. He continued roofing throughout art school and then his acting career. Over time, a number of injuries (blew out his knee in high school football) and subsequent surgeries whittled away at his ability to work in roofing, which he always equated with supporting his family, if acting never panned out for him. When he mentioned his concern to the second unit director, Vic Armstrong, he was later taken to dinner, during which Armstrong showed Ironside a list of his films and pointed out that he was playing the lead villain in a multi-million dollar sci-fi blockbuster opposite the then-number one star in the world.

David W Richards

I MUCH prefer this version of this movie PRECISELY because it's so weird and outrageous. The Colin Ferrell version takes itself ENTIRELY too seriously.

BND

dude, Mars has two moons 😂

Cinebinge

yep i know. just not that big in the sky or it wouldnt be around much longer as it would be crashing onto the planet if it was that close.
