Peter, AKA Wormtail, AKA the rat, actually died.. He was ambushed by Harry and Ron when coming down to check on them. When he got hold of Harry, Harry reminded Peter that he owed him one (for sparring his life in Prisoner of Azkaban). In that moment, Peter had a moment brief of remorse or good conscious and slacken his grip on Harry, allowing him to leave. At that exact moment, the silver hand that Voldemort gave him started to choke Peter for betraying Voldemort and Harry couldn't pry it off before Peter was dead. His only moment of having a good heart, was punished by Voldemort.

They forced the underlings to flush themselves into the ministry to put them in their place. High-ranking members get the more dignified methods of entry. Also, the idea of the snitch having 'flesh memory' is for rules enforcement in Quidditch. The first seeker to capture the snitch wins 150 points for their team and the flesh memory ensures that a rival seeker can't get away with mugging it and claiming a capture undisputed.

Joe

The message things are patronus'. And it didn't say "we are coming". It said "they are coming".

Wow this dropped sooner than expected, THX Cinebinge!

Hermione erased their memories so the Death Eaters couldn't torture them for information. Hermione was also the most advanced witch out of everyone on the beach but she's wasn't advanced enough in healing magic to help Dobby.

James Brody

Another Christmas? Did not expect this so early :)

Kristopher Chavez

She and Harry are equally advanced but for different reasons. It's often missed that Harry has a natural talent for grasping magic. Once learning how to do it in general, he can simply view a spell and perform it. We see this in Chamber of Secrets in particular. Hermione, on the other hand, can study any spell you give her out of a book and perform it, as opposed to others who just can't seem to grasp certain types of magic. It's for this reason Harry and Hermione not falling for each other never made sense to me. Both are arguably the two most powerful magic users to ever live considering their abilities. Dumbledore had centuries of experience on them and Harry still beat Voldemort. Nothing in these stories ever suggested that the rest of human history as well as the evolution of life on Earth didn't happen, so with that there is just no way two people of that much power and capability would not be naturally drawn to each other. That's literally just how people function. The terms are grossly misunderstood these days, but essentially both Harry and Hermione are Alphas in the magic world. Alphas seek alphas first.

The Inedible Mattman!

I'm not sure, but I don't think Hermionie had her bag when they landed on the beach. All three of them dropped their belongings when they were chased in the woods. So there wouldn't have been anything to use to save Dobbie.

George, you have to watch the movie: "Office Space" from 1999. Bring along Simone of course :)

To answer your questions without giving anything away for the last movie. 1. It's right when he said they have 3 Horcruxes left. Voldemort split his soul into 7 parts so he made 6 horcruxes, the diary, the ring, the locket and 3 unknown. Each horcrux contains one part of his soul and the 7th part is in Voldemort himself. 2. All of Voldemort's Horcruxes were made from objects that had extreme monetary, historical or sentimental value, as the object had to be "deserving" to hold a fragment of his precious soul. The diary held the secret that Tom was truly the descendent of Salazar Slytherin and that he was the one who opened the Chamber of Secrets. The Ring is a family heirloom and connects him to a famous pureblood family and the locket is Salazar Slytherin's locket 3. The timeturners were all destroyed during the fight where Sirius Black died 4. The wound Dobby gets is just too severe to heal. The knife went deep and he's really small

Torstein Skurve

If I remember correctly, the knife that killed Dobby was also made of silver. I guess that might also be a factor..

Tipist

Voldemort originally created 6 horcruxes while he was still alive, thus making the 7th split of his soul inside of himself (before he failed to kill Harry and ended up killing himself). I know what you are getting at instead, but I just think you are misinterpreting what was said about the location of the 7th part of his soul (they're also just trying not to spoil anything I think).

Tipist

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I think I remember this right, but to answer your question about invisibility cloaks - more than one exists, but the one Harry has is the real deal from the Deathly Hallows while the others in universe are magical items that, while rare, don't work as well in terms of making the wearer actually invisible.

Tipist

"Magical items" meaning items with magical properties that have been produced/manufactured for sale, to be more clear on that point.

Kamilla Mari

The dagger used by Bellatrix was a cursed dagger. Healing a wound caused by a cursed dagger requires immense medical skills. Hermione is not a medical witch. She can't heal Dobby.

Xandermud

Umbridge's cat was a patronus. It was keeping the dementor's above them in the courtroom at bay. Also, the message at the wedding said "they" are coming. Pretty sure it was supposed to be a warning sent by the order.

Mike Adams

I've found a new drinking game. Every time I say "Shhh you're missing something!" I take a drink

Florian Hoyer

about the time turners i dont know if it was in the movie but in the books it was: The Ministry's entire stock of Time-Turners was destroyed during a fight in the Department of Mysteries.

Florian Hoyer

the message was btw a warning it ended with "they are coming" it was a warning from the ministerium survivers that the ministerium was fallen and all the protections on them were down so they would been attacked soon

Florian Hoyer

herminio has enough knowledge to heal an open wound but not to heal a deadly wound ... they not even finished last class of school and that would be the highest magic, just no one of them knew anything to safe him. We only saw it once when snape safed draco

TheGuy

Great reaction. I have never read the books, and so am no expert on the wizarding world. Though there might be an actual explanation, I think Dobby dies simply because sometimes in a good story, the dobby dies because it is more interesting that way. It is a bigger shock, bigger reaction, etc. than if he had lived. If we are going to question magic use, then why did Dobby bother standing on top of a chandelier to slowly unscrew and try to drop it on someone, why didn't he just disarm the bad guys and freeze them or something. My opinion is they chose to let Dobby die in this instance simply to reinforce the growing darkness, as you have both taken note of in this series. Valdemort is evil, he's "Dobby has to die" level evil. This applies to a lot of stories, I mean, how often does anyone get into their car, and it won't start? According to every horror movie ever made, cars never start, even if they were just running a minute ago.

JokerDanny

the dagger that killed Dobby is a dark artefact, mortal wounds can be healed but you have to know exactly what caused the wound so you can counteract it, kind of like a poison. So because the dagger is a dark artefact they don't know the spell to heal Dobby. Literally the only one who could've saved Dobby was Bellatrix. Like how Snape knew how to heal Draco's wounds in Half-Blood Prince, because it was Snape's own spell that Harry used so Snape knew the counter curse. This is an established thing in the books, dobby's death wasn't just for shock.

gobmob2000

Just some notes to help you guys out: - Apparition is fairly complex for wizards to do, and in the books they have to go and do a course in it and get a license (kind of like the wizard equivalent of driving school), if it goes wrong the wizard can get splinched, which is basically leaving parts of your body behind, which is what happened to Ron. - Remember the prophecy said that one would have to kill the other (harry vs voldi), but Voldi keeps failing no matter how hard he tries, which is why he keeps seeking greater powers such as the Elder Wand out of desperation, because that is all he understands, power. - The new Weasley is Bill Weasley, he is the eldest child and was already and adult and working in Egypt by the time Harry went to Hogwarts, he comes a bit out of nowhere in the films but was mentioned quite a bit in the books. - The Order of the phoenix headquarters/the Black house, is enchanted with a charm that keeps it hidden and a secret from everyone but a secret keeper, this is why the trio chose it as a hideout because they knew that only Snape and no other death eater was able to find it. - The origin of the Dementors is a little bit of a mystery, official cannon is that they are a byproduct of experiments of a previous Dark Wizard (Edkrizdis) who experimented on Muggles (sailors) in Azkaban (his home before it became a prison). Apparently after he died and the ministry found Askaban, Dementors where the least scary thing in there. Ekrizdis is described as being thoroughly insane and basically a wizard equivalent of a serial killer who likes to torture his victims and do nasty things with their bodies. (Not this is not from the books but from Pottermore, but is still considered canon). - In the books there is a while thing about Dumbledores past, which they only briefly touch on in the films. But to give you condensed version, Dumbledore was once friends with a wizard called Grindelwald, who later became a very bad dark wizard himself. Grindelwald found the Elder wand and used that to terrorize the Wizard world, Dumbledore then dueled him and won and took the Elder wand from Grindlewald, which is one of the reasons Dumbledore is so famous and why everyone expected him to defeat Voldi, because he defeated Grindlewald. Btw, the guy who Voldi spoke to asking where it is, that was Grindlewald imprisoned in his home. - The glowing animal in the forest showing Harry the sword was indeed a Patronus, a Doe, which was Lilly's, harrys mothers, Patronus, curious? - Not all wounds are the same, dobbie was severely hurt, they just could not save him.

Richard B.

Just for clarification Tom Riddle split his soul 7 times, one part would still be in his current body.

JokerDanny

Bill Weasley is also a werewolf due to being scratched by Fenrir Greyback. And one correction; a young Grindelwald stole the Elder Wand from Gregorovitch {as seen in this movie} and was imprisoned in Nurmengard Castle, {a prison he created to hold his enemies} when Dumbledore defeated him,

it's really hard following the story in movies 5-7 without knowing the books. In addition to gobmob2000 about the horcruxes: in priciple you could turn everything into a horcrux, but Tom Riddle was always drawn to power and those who had it. That's explained in half-blood prince. Therefore the search for the horcruxes is not as impossile as it seems in the movies.. For example the locket RAB stole from Voldemort once was owned by salazar slytherin himself. Hope you could follow... new patreon...first comment and not in my language :) Greetings from Germany

Another note on time turners: JKR has stated that she had to mitigate the role of the time turner because once you introduce time travel you can easily break the world. In the books, the use of the time turner is emphasized to be very dangerous (why they trusted Hermione, who knows?!), Hermione gave the time turner back to Dumbledore and it was the only one at Hogwarts, and lastly the other time turners were destroyed when the Order of the Phoenix battled the Deatheaters at the Ministry of Magic. You can read more about it here: https://www.wizardingworld.com/writing-by-jk-rowling/time-turner Cheers!

Great job guys and so quick too! In addition to what everyone else has explained I have a little to add: The snitches have flesh memory thing. Harry didn't kiss it he just touched it to his mouth and breathed on it. Dumbledore hid it that way on purposes. He knew that the ministry would fall eventually and wanted what Harry was doing to be as in the dark as possible so he talked in riddles and clues with the things he left the trio. It will be made clear later. In Half Blood Prince you saw a couple memories of Voldi but in the books you actually see many. They kind of help lead the way to things Voldemort would possibly have used as horocruxes. Also as someone above said, he only thinks in terms of power. He wouldn't use a stone because that would have no significance or power. The patronus warning at the beginning was sent by Kingsly Shaklebolt, on of the Order Members. He was warning them so everyone could get away. The Deathly Hallows symbol was etched in the book Dumbledore had left Hermione not in Rita's book. One thing that is only explained in the extra scenes from this movie is that Voldemort puts a word trace on his own name. He knows the only people who actually say Voldemort are the ones fighting him. The rest are too scared so they say things like He who must not be named. So when the trio were in the coffee shop, one if them said Voldemort and that's how the two death eaters found them. Also that is how Xenopholious Lovegood calls them when the trio is at his house. Everything else has been covered by the other answers. I'm so excited for the conclusion!

Also wanted to add about the charm put on The Order of the Pheonix Headquesters/Blacks house. If I remember correctly, the Potters did this as well. While most people expected Sirius to be the secret keeper, they instead gave that to Pettigrew so as not to be so obvious. This is how it was so easy for Voldemort to get to them; he got the secret keeper on his side. When Pettigrew gave them up, most thought it was Sirius because he would be the obvious choice as secret keeper. So, with that knowledge, along with the Pettigrew finger he left behind, that made the strong case of Sirius Black giving up the Potters originally.

Jonathan Ly

I'm sad they didn't give Kreacher his redemption arc showing how they were nice to him and he changed from being hateful to loveable. Kreacher had, I think, a great story behind him.

Raymond DeGraw

I get a kick out of George saying shoot a horcrux into space... The idea behind making a horcux is that the item imbued/cursed with part of your soul so that you could to restored/returned to life. How would it help to have a horcrux floating around in ends space?
