Seth was so preoccupied with whether or not he could make teleportation work that he didn't stop to think if he should.

Oh nooooo, I haven't even watched this video yet but I'm guessing Simone won't handle this well lol

Craig Rhymer

Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis were married IRL at the time they made this

Andrew Roach

OMG, a topless small breasted girl on your thumbnail!! Oh wait, I see what you did there...

Cronenberg made a he film while watching his father die of cancer and he says d that s is magnification of the slow eating of the body by the cancer cells

Ironclad Nomad

Yeesh. I feel like you should watch something warm and fuzzy after this.

Oh hurray, I'm glad you guys watched it!!! I mean I know it can be a really hard watch, but it's such a classic. It was Jeff Goldblum's big name movie before Jurassic Park, it has so many classic sci-fi/horror elements (the tagline, all the references in other mediums like with the Simpsons, arguably THE movie people mean when they say Cronenberg body horror, etc.), and it's just a great movie to have as part of your cinematic frame of reference. I was really interested in seeing what you'd both think of it. I'm sorry it was so nauseating, though. ^_^;

Fun fact: the original 1950s movie (you're correct, this is a remake) is much more old-school "man has meddled in things he doesn't understand, dun dun dun" sci-fi. In that version, the scientists comes out of the teleporter with his arm and head swapped with the fly. For this version, the allegory was deliberated changed to be about terminal disease. About the hopeless feeling of being struck ill and there being nothing you can do about it. It's one of the reasons it works so well as a remake; i.e., it takes the effort to do its own thing.
