Inception - Patreon Version

I had seen Inception years ago and thought it interesting and beautifully filmed. But then it went, like most dreams, out of mind. And now seeing it with Simone and George, it was even more mind bending than ever. If you could...watch George when they are watching the scene at the "Opium den". When the caretaker of the dreamers says "they come to be woken up. Their dream has become their reality. Who are you to say otherwise?" No quip or snarky comment escaped his lips...interesting.

Some film recommendations: Rocky 2, A Few Good Men, 13 Hours: The Scret Soldiers of Benghazi, Real Steel, Con Air, Face/Off, Star Trek: The Motion Picture(only to jump start the Star Trek movies, not the biggest fan of this movie)

Please do a reaction to The Prestige at some point. It is my favorite Christopher Nolan film, but for some reason it flew under the radar when it was released.

No debate needed. The end is reality. It is known. :) There are also hints in the movie itself. More interesting however is the fact that Cobb doesn't even care about the spinning top. He's happily reunited with his kids.

Inception is Nolan's loving tribute to Donald Duck: https://youtu.be/2VlKl3rbBW0 Also, keep in mind that Nolan loves practical effects, so he had to actually fold the city on giant hydraulics to get those shots.

Michael

I disagree, I believe the whole inception was for Cobb to make him believe his dream was a reality. There are hints for that in the movie as well. Nolan did a great job of making everyone wonder.

you guys should watch Paprika by Satoshi Kon, its got a similar feel to this and I think you would enjoy some of his other films as well like Perfect Blue and Tokyo Godfathers

Odd Thomas

Ah George. Always overthinking/getting things wrong lol

Vegard

You should definitely check out Memento! I guess it can be considered Nolan's breakthrough movie, and maybe my favorite of his

Radwar

Not a fan of having the movie shown in full screen in the background, it's incredibly distracting. Is there a version with a reduced screen at the bottom and in the middle like most people doing reaction does?

clout strife

all in favour of Simone recapping Rick and Morty episodes the same way Summer does Jaws, say aye

The 'Patreon' version is a full watch along. Because the video is hosted on Youtube, and it is the full movie, it has to be fully censored to avoid Youtube's copyright scanning tech. Cinebinge also produce a 'Youtube' version which is edited down to key reaction moments and includes some of the uncensored movie for context. https://youtu.be/udLv_MjXIng

As someone who spent almost a year seriously practising lucid dreaming techniques, this movie is more "realistic" than most people assume. I've had a moment where I almost did something really dangerous in real life, as I wrongfully assumed I was dreaming. Thankfully I double-checked. I also found myself looking forward to my dreaming life more than my waking life. That's mostly why I stopped doing it. The shared dreaming, the limbo, the "kick", all that stuff is Hollywood magic of course. But there's some truth to that feeling of time dilation (though not nearly to the extreme as seen in the movie), I've had lucid dreams that felt like they lasted two hours and then woke up to see only 15 minutes had passed. The need for the "kick" is the funniest part as, at least for me, it took considerable willpower and training _not_ to instantly wake up the moment I realized I was dreaming.

Haven't seen Tokyo Godfathers yet, but I gotta toss Millennium Actress in as well.

MacGuffinStuff

Interesting, just curious what you mean by "seriously practicing", what does that entail? I lucid dream, well I used to, haven't had one in almost a year I think, but they were always spontaneous for me. I never thought to intend on having one, I'd just be dreaming and sort of wake up and realize I was dreaming, and then I could take control of things, although I wouldn't try to control every aspect, when I got too controlling the whole thing would unravel and I'd wake up. So it was more like I was a conscious participant in my subconscious, I'd kind of go with the flow, unless I felt like changing things up and then I would, if I didn't like the location or something. Generally I'd just enjoy the vividness, flying over scenery was my favorite thing to do, practicing my telekinesis was fun too lol, and one time I played an old neighborhood game with a childhood friend who passed a few years ago, it was a good time.

omg yes, you guys need to react to Rick and Morty, Not first time watching is totally ok!

Eleven

this was also my first time watching this, with you guys... between the strong edibles, the amazing ride/camera work, and the concept, i legit barfed mid-movie. that was ALSO a first for me- but not a complaint, strangely enough, SO INCREDIBLE!

Marty McGee

LOL The first time I saw this movie was in an IMAX theater. I was half-lit because we hit the bar first. The scene with the city folding totally fucked me up. I didn't puke but I almost passed out. Wound up having to walk out. Luckily it didn't deter me from coming back the next day sober to watch it.

Marty McGee

George's subconscious security guard: "George isn't here man." Also I think Simone has come up with a whole new genre to react to. Great stuff guys. That's why I love Nolan's movies so much. It's the human stories he tells.

Luis Torrefranca

Adding to the list of series to watch if it's not there already: "Station Eleven"

Scott Hinchcliffe

Great reaction as usual. One of my all time favourite films.

Damian

Oh man, that hallway scene is incredible. The brain knows it’s practical, and all in-camera, and it’s all the better for it. The effort put in to a five-minute fight scene really shows. Thanks for posting that making of clip.
