I have to admit, I'm not a fan of this film. I remember seeing this in the theater and continually looking at my watch. But not every movie is going to be for me and I'm glad it has its fans.

Great reaction to a great movie, not to nitpick but as an Irishman I must do it.. Cillian is pronounced like "Killy-an" the C is hard.

Only Nolan would imagine dreams as being so cold and clinical. I would argue that the subconscious is more abstract and irrational but he sets up rules well here. I really dont like Tennet. Each of Nolan's films have become more reliant on Bond tropes and time dilation/ editing gimmicks. I felt that was a problem in Dunkirk too, where we have 3 concurrent timelines running simultaneously and we're supposed to get that from the different ticking beats of the soundtrack. Its a lot to ask of the audience. He also has this annoying habit of burying dialogue in music and background sound because he thinks it makes the audience concentrate harder but I would argue its just distracting and headache inducing.

Not to mention that the timeline stuff in DUNKIRK didn't really add anything substantial to the film itself. It really is just a fancy gimmick in that one. Yeah. I was dissappointed. Don't like TENET either to be frank. He generally isn't a very good action director. I'm curious what his trajectory is going to be as a director from here on. Loved INCEPTION, loved INTERSTELLAR, really liked THE PRESTIGE and MEMENTO, even INSOMMNIA (although it's weaker than I remembered it to be). But he's loosing it a bit it seems...

I think the end of their reactions really encapsulates George and Simone. Simone reacted the same way she did during 'The Fugitive', when she said Tommy Lee Jone's character was helping Harrison Ford and George said 'maybe he's just investigating in order to catch Harrison Ford' and Simone partially conceded the point; "Yeah...but I think he does care...I want him to care." So here, Simone wanted Leo to be with his children, so she says "It was wobbling...it was going to fall." George, my reaction in the theater was exactly like yours. So an interesting thing to remember about the spinning top, is that it is not Cobb's totem. The top was his wife's totem. It is unclear what Cobb's actual totem is.
