Jonah

I don't think she ever woke up from the alarm. I think she just had a lucid dream moment when she grabbed Freddy, and transported them inside in her dream. and he just kept messing with her from there.

Jonah

meaning I don't think she pulled him to the real world at all.

You have this film to thank for The Lord of the Rings getting made ! New Line Cinema was about to go bust, then this movie gave them the bank to stay open long enough to make LotR. And George - daylight scary = Midsommar.

Monica Alarcon

Awesome!! Can't wait to wake up and watch this!!

JediLounger

I was wondering what was going to be posted today, I thought of various possible movies. This is not one of them lol.

FrancescoTakesItEasy

Among my all-time top 5 horror movies. Thanks for doing this one!

AC10

1984 or 2010? 1984. They showed the poster.

Chints' Miniature Mistakes

About the ending: Wes Craven never intended for that ending or for the movie to become a franchise. The "morning time epilogue" is something the studio forced in to keep the ending ambiguous and allow for sequels. The ending is something Wes Craven has said he regrets. The idea is that it was all supposed to be just that, a nightmare. The ending was supposed to be that Nancy wakes up, finds out it was all a dream and that her friends are fine, movie over. Nancy turned her back on Freddie's violence and that stops him from killing her. With the ending as is, the theory could be that Freddy could never be pulled into the real world and that he was manipulating Nancy to think she had found a way to beat him and she does infact die. But this gets retconned in future films so, it's basically an ending that even the future movies ignore.

Mitchell Bowker

This one, the third film Dream Warriors, and then Wes Craven's New Nightmare are the best in the series (the films that involve Wes Craven), and you don't really need to see the other films to watch these ones, but it adds to New Nightmare if you do!

If you want a scary movie set in daylight, check out "It Follows"

Alfredo Topete Escamilla

There are a lot of horror movies that take place in daylight: - Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974): A classic. Very gruesome dark horror. - Jaws (1975): Another classic. Very scary if you have thalassophobia. - Train to Busan (2016): More modern Korean zombie horror and drama. - A quiet place (2018): You know this one. - Midsommar (2019): Very different kind of horror, but amazing IMO. - [Recomendation] Tremors (1990): Little bit of horror, fun, great practical effects and a young Kevin Bacon. What else do you need?

So in my opinion, they get pretty silly real fast. I like the movies, they come up with fun new deaths each time, and Robert Englund is good in every one. Movies 2-6 each have their fans. 2 is ok, people really like 3 and 4. 5 is fine, 6 is pretty rough. But then we get to movie 7, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare. New Nightmare is awesome on multiple levels. It is one of the coolest horror films I have ever seen. It can also be considered a lead in to the Scream franchise. Story wise the franchises have nothing to do with each other…but you guys should watch them and see for yourselves.

Simone “It’s an 80’s movie. It won’t be as scary” Never underestimate the older films.

PIG

Yeah I have to agree with all of this. It goes up and down but, for a franchise, it's probably the best you can do. My personal favorites are Part 3, the Dream Warriors and Part 7, Wes Craven's New Nightmare. I would love to see you guys watch the whole thing and I think it's worth it.

Opti_Frog

Two of horror cinema's most iconic deaths (Tina and Glen) in one movie. Quite a feat.

Monica Alarcon

Speaking of sequels I would suggest 3, 4, New Nightmare... and that's about it...

Tenn Seven

How does George a) not know what "turn down a bed" means; and b) not know that fruitcakes are filled with nuts?

Noe Ramirez

You guys need to watch What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), it's a great early Johnny Depp movie, and also an early Leo DeCaprio film as well!

gobmob2000

You two should watch The Shining as well as watch some classic Hitchcock, the father of horror, my recommendations are Psycho and The Birds

redddfer44

"This movie has been in my house" is appropriately creepy :D Some older horror recommendations (in addition to the obligatory Hitchcocks, Kubricks, and Evil Deads): The Exorcist (1973) The Omen (1976) Suspiria (1977) Halloween (1978) Jacob's Ladder (1990) - it's got Tim Robbins in it! (Okay, 1990 isn't old. It really isn't. It's younger than Simone and Simone is young.)

Crow

This is my childhood right here :) Freddy is one of my favorite movie characters. I love all the entries in this franchise despite the cheese factor :) Cheers! ---and patiently waiting for The Crow to make it onto a list. ;)

Dave Gaskin

+1 for The Crow 💍🎸

Richard B.

Going silly with Freddy was about the only place you can take a horror movie monster after their reveal. Once your monster is out of the bag they are never as frightening as they used to be, but yea Freddy goes a little to far down the humor path sometimes. I would watch the first 4 movies (3 is my favorite) and maybe the remake just to see you guys compare it to the original.

Sheriff Uchiha

Freddy vs Jason was really good when you compare it to all the horrible sequels for both franchises and enjoyable fun for fans of both. I think it was a mistake to watch that before this. When did you realise the movies were connected? You didn't mention it before the reaction started, and it seemed you had no idea Freddy was in this.

Lucifer Moon

another reason why the movies went funny in the sequels is they were supposed to be anthology style with a different monster every film but freddy ended up being to popular but they had already revealed him the first film so they knew scary would not really work well anymore and so they were not sure how to handle him being the main villain of the franchise going forward.

Lucifer Moon

also, it goes without saying that the whole ending with the kids int the care and mom through the door sequel bait was not the original ending and was only added after it was decided Freddy would continue to be the villain in the sequel. When freddy vanished in the mom's room after Nancy turned her back on him that WAS supposed to be the end of him based on the original intent for series ( having a different villain every movie ).

Torsten Maekler

You should add "Poltergeist" from 1982 to your list. After this one, it's a piece of cake ;-)

It's possible the entire film was a dream since it ends just as it began with the kids doing the jump rope.
