Mitchell Bowker

ohhhh now I wanna see a video of George cooking :P

Lannisen

I've never read up on it, but I've always wondered what actually happened in this movie. We know "Verbal" is an unreliable witness, so everything could be fully made up, right? So what really happened?

JediLounger

You guys seem to be enjoying Gabriel Byrne (Keaton) in this movie. I would suggest you watch Miller’s Crossing (1990) if you want more of him.

redddfer44

LMAOO the raawwr is the best thing I've seen all week :D Okay, I've a question for people who've rewatched this and still like it: what do you love about it? It's got one of the unforeseeable twists ever but upon rewatches I find it hard to relate to anything at all in it since it's all a lie. Or did Söze just make up the names and most of it happened?

redddfer44

Commenting here in case somebody answers because I want to know, too.

Odd Thomas

Here are some other brilliant 'twisty' thrillers I'd recommend: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2011), Identity (2003), The Prestige (2006)

Matthew Hamby

Agree with all but have to do the original The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2009)

Mati D.

Prisioners and Gone Girl are also kinda amazing to see for the first time.

Foodassassin4life

I really love this movie but after a re-watch you realize that his whole plan was moot because his face is out there now. They know that he’s Kaiser Soze so even though he planned this whole thing brilliantly he’s still fucked in the end because they have a face to go with the name. I don’t know if that was intentional and it was supposed to be like even though he succeeded in killing everyone that knew his identity he’s still exposed in the end or if that was just an oversight on somebody’s part.

Robert Haynes

I think this is something that seems more serious now. In the 90s, police departments didn't really work together, and facial recognition isn't really a thing for decades. As long as he doesn't go back to that city and have a run in with the cops he would be fine.

TGrimace

I love that they didn't figure it out until the end! So much better when the surprise ending takes viewers by surprise. I kept waiting for George to say "Wait. If Verbal is Kaiser Souzai, he's an unreliable narrator" and figure it all out.

AzraRillian

Although many would say that Kaiser wins in the end, he arguably doesn't, considering he failed at the one thing he tried to do - preventing his identity from being revealed.

Jack Burton

That story about Benicio farting during that scene has been told by multiple cast members. Even him. I'm pretty sure that's completely true.

Haye Zeus

This is my first time watching this movie but I still knew the twist. It’s kind of unavoidable. Like knowing Darth Vader is Luke’s dad. Or knowing that the dude in the hairpiece in Sixth Sense is actually Bruce Willis. But I can see how the first time watching it’s like “woah, mind blown”. They do a good job with the whole unreliable narrator trope. That’s fun. But also I can see how this movie is one and done. Like once you know the twist, the story itself is kind of meh. Like I was more interested in seeing how they managed to unfold the mystery more than enjoying the story itself. But it wasn’t bad. I will say, all the homoerotic subtext in this movie is funny considering the director.

Jack Burton

Keep this in mind. Kevin Spacey believes that there are ZERO witnesses to tell their side. That means every single thing he told that detective was either a lie, a bent truth, or the rare truth that would make sense with whatever evidence they found on the scene. He was free to weave whatever tale he wanted. Anything you saw in this movie as part of the flashbacks are suspect and probably a lie. There is no worrying about who shot who at the end because it was all made up. He could have had 7 guys there and we wouldn't know because it's only Kevin Spacey telling the story. Half the movie is just a reenactment of his lies/story as told by him as if that was what actually happened.

Thomas Yanez

It wasn't the twist that shocked me, it was the betrayl I felt when I realized I had been hanging on the words of an unreliable narrator.

JWheezy

I would think that Verbal wants it known that he’s Sose otherwise he wouldn’t incorporate 15 different things from the guy’s office. He’s never in duress the detective’s threats hold no sway, he can sit quietly for 2 hrs if he wants. What’s the fun of an intricate master plan if nobody knows you did it. The point is they didn’t know until it was too late and he’s in the wind with 91 million, but then why go for the rat in the boat, because of his disdain for rats? I dunno.

MotoDork

That's some "Bad Hat Harry"

Logan Kerlee

This reaction was so flippin' awesome! The end of the film was chef's kiss perfect. I'm so glad that you both watched this! It's a great movie. Seven was dark and twisted but this one was brilliant and dark, while being action packed. xD Glad you dug on this, the both of you. This is a great crime thriller. :)

Opti_Frog

It's impossible to map out what actually happened in this movie since there is no way to know how much of what Verbal Kint said was true and how much was artifice. Whatever the truth is, that ending is one of the best rug-pulls in cinema history.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Ah man, that's one reason I watch reaction videos, watching this again with the 'Binge reminded me of the first time I saw it, but of course knowing how it ends. Definitely a movie you have to watch multiple times to appreciate on its multiple layers. I remember this actually came out around the same time as Seven, at the time Kevin Spacey (RIP his non-creep status) was an unknown, he totally murdered that year, on screen and as a newly minted box office draw, became a big name after these two movies and then did American Beauty.

Tenn Seven

"Alan Smithee" is the pseudonym that directors have been allowed to use when they want to disassociate themselves from a project and they can show that they did not have creative control over the finished product.

Matt Gwinn

The guy also had in depth knowledge of Kaiser's criminal dealings. I think he was less worried about the cops knowing what he looked like than what his competition was going to learn about his business. The knowledge must have been extensive if they were willing to spend $91 million to get the guy.

Tenn Seven

It was great seeing your reactions to the ending of this movie! This one is really a gem. I recommend "Miller's Crossing" as another great movie starring Gabriel Byrne, written and directed by the Coen brothers.

Richard B.

I love watching people see this movie for the first time, it never disappoints.

PIG

Yeah he’s even better in Miller’s Crossing.

Spooky Dooky

Please watch K-Pax! Also with Kevin Spacey
