This movie like most breakfasts, not enough bacon. Ba da boom

Guantanamo didn’t become a detention facility until after the attacks of 9/11/2001. Before that, it was just a military base.

Super Sunday surprise :) If you wanna see Tom Cruise in a different role than usual then I can suggest "Rain Man". For Jack Nicholson you just have to watch "One flew over the Cuckoo's nest". Both film resulted in several Oscars.

Craig Rhymer

Legal Eagle did a YouTube video as part of a series about applying actual law to movies ... this one was 'A Few Good Men' gets lawyered

Dooly

Somewhat bothered how you keep calling the marine corp ‘culty’.

Lindsay G

Rob Reiner really is a great filmmaker. Much like Kubrik he seems to be able to make any type of movie and it stands up as one the greats of its genre.

Elvenwitch

How would you describe it? I admit my view from the Air Force might be skewed, but the only thing I saw missing from the depiction in the movie was the massive amount of alcohol abuse. Honestly, I am not trying to make an issue, but I am unsure if their view is that wrong.

Ricardo Alanis

A Time to Kill is another great legal drama that I’d recommend.

Aussiefeld

question to Johnny Knoxville.... Is Johnny Knoxville related to Jack Nicholson? No, but I love Jack Nicholson. I'm a huge fan of his. We have the same hairline.26 Feb 2022

George, it was the Lt. Col. Mathew Andrews (the guy who shot himself) that spent 17 years in counter intelligence and that they built up so much in the second act when he went missing, not Jack Nicolson's Col. Jessup character.

WastedPo

Yeah. Reiner's early career was uncanny. Literally every movie he made was either good or great. Then he kind of hit a brick wall with "North."

WastedPo

I understand George wanting to see more of Nicholson. But I think the counter argument to that would be - they wanted to keep him somewhat mysterious and intimidating for the audience. The more you see of someone, the less scary they seem. Also, I think for the audience at the time, it wasn't a foregone conclusion that Jessup would show up again. By keeping him off screen for so long, it made it seem especially brazen for the Cruise team to decide to call him on the stand.

JayF

I think it was more about him making $500k per day of shooting. Reiner had to ask him to stay until noon for one extra day to finish up some scenes despite not being able to pay him for it.

John DelVecchio

Please Watch the Movie “Heathers” with a young Christian Slater, you would think he’s a young Jack Nicholson. Heathers stars Winona Ryder from Stranger Things and is a very notable Cult Film.

pedantech

Devil's Advocate, please.

Oscar Diggs

Everyone in this movie was at the height of their powers… actors, director, writer. It’s the perfect storm of when these people could make such a great movie. and Legal Eagle just recently did this movie. It’s completely worth the watch.

stephen phillips

another phenomenal movie that came out around the same time as this one is an Al Pacino movie Scent of a Woman. That one is a must!!!!!!!!! one of Al Pacino's best performances. Please check that one out.

Ed Stephens

Legal Eagle also did Top Gun with a Navy Prosecutor that's worth watching

David S

George needs a fix of Nicholson being intimidating? A great movie with a fantastic cast and Jack being Jack is Scorsese's "the Departed".

Joits

If you enjoyed this kind of movie involving military drama, I would recommend The General's Daughter.

Joe Hoy

Shit; even setting "The Shining" aside, the guy acts his butt off throughout the 1989 "Batman" movie.

Rezblade

This is so awesome I enjoyed you two taking it in , in the theaters same reactions as you guys on a military base especially when Jack Nicholson walked him with all his ribbons , crowd was damm ! Tom cruise did another lawyer movie called “ The Firm “

Rob Parry

Another great film from the 90's, my favorite decade for movies. Also love the 70's and the 2000's but the 90's just seemed to have it all. Every genre had great films including independent films that really started to become popular in the 90's. There was something for everyone. Just a little bit before cable channels like HBO, Showtime, AMC, etc. and then later Netflix and streaming services really started to equal if not better a lot of what was in the theaters IMO.

michael clarke

another military court room movie you could check out is called "the generals daughter". i have seen it in years, but it made a huge impact on me. samone will cry.

JWW301

This film was the go-to if you have ever played Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

Bill Pearson

Simone and George, thanks for reacting to A Few Good Men. I thought you might like it and it seems you did. Others to look into are A Scent of a Woman, The Last of the Mohicans, and A Field of Dreams.

Bill Pearson

Also 12 Angry Men, the 1957 one with the many stars including Henry Fonda! Amazing movie. It took place almost completely in the jury room during deliberation of the crime.

Bill Pearson

Oh and Simone, Aaron Sorkin created and wrote the scripts for the first 3-4 seasons of West Wing. The series won 26 Emmys. It is rated one of the best series in television history.

Bill Pearson

I agree and I don’t expect them too. I was just letting them know about tremendous creative talent of Mr. Sorkin.

HeyHeyJK

Simone certainly looks good in uniform (but I get the feeling she's not really a military kinda of girl, in the best way possible)!

PaulChristopher

Another great Tom Cruise movie would be Interview With the Vampire.

Gryff

The Last Samurai. In my opinion it's one of the few movies where Tom Cruise doesn't play himself in the setting. It's also a compelling story with beautiful cinematography.

Gryff

Yup! This and Flatliners are the ace in the hole.

jonny bowerbank

Great movie. Personally i love vanilla sky but it gets a lot of shit. Personal taste i guess

WastedPo

Born on the Fourth of July: If you guys want to react to a straight-up drama starring Tom Cruise, plus one that literally NO other reactor has done, this would be an interesting one. It came out in 1989, was directed by Oliver Stone, was nominated for a ton of awards (including Best Picture), but has curiously been forgotten about. (My theory is that antiwar messages, while previously the norm, have become unpopular in recent years.) It's really worth a watch.

Byron

This combo’ed with Apollo 13 (Tom Hanks is clutch) will serve ya well on the Kevin Bacon game. But for my money, the best Bacon movie is Tremors.
