I recently came across a reactor who hates it. It was... odd. And extremely off-putting.

Monica Alarcon

Have you though of doing like a Coffee table book with all your best thumbnails? I'd buy it

Mr TV Eye

Great, one of THE big movies of my teenage years. I'll start watching instantly ;)

JLee

Fingers crossed y'all continue with Hughes and do 'Planes, Trains, and Automobiles' bc 'tis nearly the season.

Martin

This was the quintessential 80’s coming-of-age teen flick. Still holds up well after 3+ decades.

Paul Davey

Nope, Emilio Estévez is not a 'Sheen' by name but is related. Martin Sheen's real name is Ramón Estévez, and Charlie's real name is Carlos Estévez.

Adam Wetstein

This the movie that explains how white privileged boomers ended up so entitled lol

mojo shivers

One of the most iconic 80’s films. Indeed, the references to this film roam far and wide as this movie was a touching point for every story about a group thrown together or just any film involving teen angst.

Tom Smith

Just to clarify on what you said, the relation is that Emilio Estévez is Martin Sheen's son.

Tom Smith

Sushi was very rare in the 80s. Took off over the last 20 or so years.

Funny That

Though it hardly seems to matter much, as I'd be okay with a one off Logans Run to cull the over forties, but this is a GenX joint. Sadly boomers didn't get a monopoly on being an arse. Boomers mostly failed to reach a one-to-one reproduction rate, hence they are the one big voting block that dominates all the others.

Claire and Bender lasted three weeks, tops, and it ended in an EXTREMELY toxic and dramatic whirlpool of rumors, sex, and screaming fights in third-period AmLit. Bender dropped out and Claire was so profoundly traumatized that she flushed her senior year down the toilet and wound up in community college for two years. Bender (now a much more well-adjusted person - he’s a history teacher, in fact) just found her on Facebook last week and is torturing himself trying to decide if he should reach out. Claire’s married to a rich guy. They have three kids and live in Chicago. She spends a lot of time raising money for the Democratic Party and is thinking about running for local office now that her kids are all grown. Her husband does not approve. Brian got really into drugs in college and now lives in the desert outside Los Angeles doing weird animatronic modern art. He’s a 12-stepper and a Buddhist, and hasn’t spoken to anyone from high school in 30 years. Andrew and Allison lasted slightly longer than Bender and Claire did, but not by much. Andrew joined a frat, married a sorority girl, and they had two boys. He sells solar panels and has serious ulcer problems. He used to cheat on his wife (like, a lot) but he started gaining weight and having erectile dysfunction, so now he mostly drinks at the local bar on Friday nights. Sometimes he sees Bender there and pretends not to remember him. The only friendship that survived that fateful Saturday was Claire and Allison’s. They didn’t hang out much in high school, but reconnected in community college and forged a lifelong bond. Allison is everyone’s favorite wacky art professor at Carnegie Mellon University. She’s happily unmarried, but has taken a series of long-term live-in lovers. The latest is named Thad. He got a federal grant to do origami. Claire envies her freedom. And that, for good and for ill, is what became of the Breakfast Club. Sequel, anyone?

Bridget

@Cinebinge, "Berry Gordy`s `The Last Dragon'(1985), you both are going too love it."

Kron0n

Man, I always thought this film and pretty in pink were so over the top and hammed up. I can't take them seriously. :) But my school had detention.

Ed Stephens

Emilio Estevez directed Bobby with his father Martin Sheen and I think his sister is in it too. Based on a script he wrote and brother pushed him to make. I recommend checking it out sometime.

Jeff K

Given the Emilio Estevez of it all, now I just really want you guys to watch Mighty Ducks. I mean, you're Canadian. It's about your national religion, after all.

David Sumner

Bender pulls off a textbook negging here.

jim Howe

If you want to see some extreme dehydration you should watch 'Me Myself and Irene' with Jim Carey.

Jack Burton

I love this movie poster. So emblematic of 80's high school. The pack is legendary. I also never understood why some people hate this movie. It's a perfect time capsule of how kids in High School in the 80's experienced life and each other.

David Sumner

Here's what's going on with Bender. He is super attracted to Claire but because his parent's relationship is so messed up he doesn't know how to court a girl without psychologically breaking her down and making her feel dependent on his approval. There is zero chance that this relationship will end well.

Brian Hakala

So glad you watched this one! John Hughs is an excellent writer/director. Everyone can relate to at least one of these characters. One funny tidbit is that the scene when Emilio Estevez is trying to climb over the magazine display that’s blocking the door and trips, that was a blooper but Hughs decided to leave it in.

Com1xguy

Re-living my early teens lately with your movie choices. I approve!

Dee Aitch

First channel to include the upskirt, to my knowledge.

Andy Frost

They had detention when I was at school in England, in fact my whole class got put into detention for 4 weeks! lol!
