The Last of Us: Season 1 - Episode 4 & 5 - Patreon Version

Comments

Marko T.

I really like episode 4. That bearded guy is played by Tommy's voice actor from the game.

JediLounger

Before I say this, I want to restate that I have played both games several times, and read all extra material available to the public(comics, art books, etc). I would rather keep my comments back until you have finished the series, but I will say two things. 1. Everything in the series is from the games in some form. 2. Based on the various questions and comments you guys made, you need to play both games. I know neither of you have a PlayStation of any kind, and only the first game is coming to PC soon, I hope the second game is announced for PC this year. But you still need to play them.

Pam Nail

I used to play with those magic erase drawing pads ALL THE TIME as a kid. If you were poor, it was like a cheap Etch-a-Sketch.

JoshG

Season one is the entire first game

mojo shivers

Most of the infected can see. It’s the third “evolution” that can’t see, the clickers. Runners, the most common, stalkers, and bloaters/shambles can see. It’s just clickers, the ones where the fungus has grown over their eyes that can’t and rely on echolocation to find victims.

"This is not an Arby's" - episode 3 An actual Arby's sign - episode 4 Did Arby's low key have an ad placement deal with TLOU? (Also: I'm fully on board the "Arby's is actually pretty good and doesn't deserve the hate it gets in pop culture" train.)

Jeff K

These two episodes represent a section of the game that takes in Pittsburgh. They changed it to Kansas City for the show strictly because they were filming in Calgary, so they needed to find an American city it could realistically pass for (and Pittsburgh is a very unique city given its geography, so obviously, that was out).

The Maestro

I was actually worried that we weren't going to see the big boss type monsters in this because I thought I heard they were making the show a bit more realistic than the game

Jeff K

Yep. It's not necessarily a "short" game but it's not overly long, in the grand scheme. It's very linear and cinematic, which is why, of course, it lends itself so well to adaptation.

jack ass

i cant wait til she sees episode 9. Ashley is obviously easy to spot, but will she find Laura Bailey in that episode?

Odd Thomas

The big boy is a bloater and yes, you fight them in the game. The series covers the entirety of the first game.

Monica Alarcon

Wow, I can't believe you guys have never seen those screen thingies the kid is writing in... I had those as a child, maybe they don't make them anymore. At least not like that. I gave my niece something like that but it had like a dial you swipe across the screen and it erases what you wrote. Those were fun, the tablets of our time...

24:30 me making eye contact with simones cat 👁️👁️

The actress that plays Kathleen is Melanie Lynskey. I just remember her from Two and a Half Men where she played Charlie Sheen's crazy girlfriend/wife Rose. quite different characters....although she did keep Charlie prisoner in her basement for a few years ;p

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Regular infected - Runners Stalkers - next stage, sneaky and heightened sight, probably see them in season 2 Clickers - fungal plate's grown over their eyes so they've developed bat-like means of hunting Bloaters - fungus has grown all over their bodies so thick that it's like armor The other two stages that are in the 2nd game are terrifying. One's called Shamblers, the other is called The Rat King. Those last two I'll let you find out what they are once season 2 rolls around ;)

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

They did condense the 1st game into one season even though it could have easily been 2 seasons. They did confirm the second game will be told over multiple seasons because it really is a massive story

John DelVecchio

Can you please add Wedding Crashers to your future watch list. Great Laughs.

Alec Zrike

I love how after the big fight, there are still infected just *pouring* out of the hole.

Gary Fixler

No, they still make them. https://www.amazon.com/magic-slate/s?k=magic+slate Simone and George must have just danced a perfect line through every instance of them. Makes me wonder what everyone else has encountered that I haven't yet. That's happened to me a few times with stuff that was popular for about 6 years around college, when I didn't watch any TV, see any movies, or play any video games - too busy with school and friends, who also weren't doing those things. If I hear about some 90s thing that everyone knew, and I've never heard of it, it's from those 6 years.

Chase Schleich

George, Last of Us isn't a dense RPG game. It's a straight forward story based single player game. The game gives you a fairly straight path from A to B area to area with cut scenes in between to tell the story. The game is maybe 15 hours? Can probably get 20 out of it if you explore every nook and corner. Assuming you don't have a PS3, PS4 or PS5 since you've never played it,but the latest remaster of it is coming to PC March 28th so you really should play it. The show and game are similar, but the show adds in new story details, but leaves out a ton of set pieces and locations. So just because you've seen the show doesn't mean you've seen everything. Plenty of different stuff in the game itself.

Chase Schleich

Has to be thousands of infected pouring out. Basically the entire infected population of the city were forced underground (minus the ones that got killed). That's A LOT of monsters.

Johnny Dennis

My love how you guys are getting the gist of every aspect of this show so far George gets half Simone gets half and you both agree with each other I know for a fact you're being genuine that you've never played the game enough to remember everything but you're in for a treat thanks for the videos and watching this it's very important story with me

Ginger

George: "Under the rubble, is it a giant one or is it a bunch of them?" The show: "Yes."

Martin

In the game, the only semi-efficient way to kill a blister was with bombs and Molotov cocktails. If it got to you before blowing it up, you were dead. And the Rat King…omg. The nightmares are real. George unknowingly described it during episode 5.

p0sthum4n

How/when do we vote on what TV you guys watch? And how can I vote for The Sopranos?

Madelyn Blaze

Yes, they were called Magic Slates! Talk about a deep track down memory lane - and then George makes me feel old because he's never seen them... And now I'm also wondering, do they have Arby's in Canada? My curiosity is going to force me to google it.

Jack Burton

i couldn't figure out where that purring was coming from. i thought i'd left a video running or something on another tab.

Byron Abrahams

You guys haven't seen an Etch-A-Sketch? Jesus, how old am I?

Patrick

I think they're in their mid 20's to be fair and I doubt Etch-A-Sketch existed in China.

Patrick

I don't really like the casting for the female leader. Her voice is too high and not very commanding. I never really take her seriously. It's also not really believable that she would be allowed to lead considering the group of people she is surrounded with. It has nothing to do with her being a woman either. Tess and Marlene make more believable leaders.

ajanim

late, but that's the point. you're supposed to be put off by her sweet exterior before you realize she's actually ruthless. i find it way more interesting than if she was just some generic tough leader archetype

rafermadness

Such good writing. Even people who are usually nuanced & self aware say "shoot Kathleen", not realizing that "shoot Henry" & "shoot Joel" are logically contained within that statement.

pinkdino99

Sam's board is a magnetic crayon like an etch-a-sketch. Proper 80s toy.
