I can tell you the label on all 6 beers out in the fridge. I know the best place to look for a koozie is on the beer I just finished. And I can walk 57 feet to the fridge before I get lightheaded and my hands start shaking. Let's do this!

MikeBdrx

Ok black hair pale skin Simone sounds so hot 🔥🔥😅🤣

JediLounger

Yes for the love of god watch Bourne 2 (Supremacy) and 3 (Ultimatum). Hopefully soon. The second and third movies have the shaky cam, but the movies are so good that they are worth it. Edit: So based on the intro, you do not know who Franka Potente is. I strongly, STRONGLY advise you guys watch Run Lola Run (1998) Second Edit: For another excellent movie with Chris Cooper I would suggest Breach (2007)

droodly

My favorite is "The Bourne Kerfuffle"

Ballsac McGee

I think shaky cam, close up stuff works really well in the bourne movies. It puts you in his mindspace, feels very paranoid and claustrophobic. I do have some issues with clarity in the second movie, but the third one I think is one of the best edited movies I've seen, it's so perfect, not only can you tell exactly what is happening in the action scenes, it also does a really good job of telling the story without words, showing you every obstacle in bourne's path, what decisions he's considering, how he makes his decisions, the mistakes and their consequences. It conveys so much information without ever missing a beat.

punterjoe

I think there's still life in the franchise - much like Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series. I'm hoping Hollywood will realize there's still money to be made and bring in Harrison Ford for The Bourne Kerfuffle. 😏

Kyle Baker

Gladiator did shaky before Bourse.

samuel Jakob

The second and third are also worth a watch. Nice reaction, Btw. about the question of jurisdiction in an embassy, an embassy is an extention of the country it belongs to and is not property of the country it is located in, for example if you would walk into a canadian embassy somewhere in the world, the moment you walk into the embassy you leave the country you are in and "enter canada".

My random thoughts ^^ - There's 5 movies and a short-lived amazon series called "Treadstone". - The point of the whole bridge scene was basically to see what the guy looks like and place the tracker on the car. Jason never intended to actually meet the guy on the bridge. - In my head-canon, Clive Owen just scared the dog away and the guy and the kids come across him in the car, pick him up and everybody is alive and happy. :D - There's a Time Magazine article titled "Costs of rescuing Matt Damon in movies" where someone added all of it up. I think it was something like 900 billion.

AzraRillian

Although I like the movies, the novels are a bit more special to me. Without spoiling anything, there’s just an added layer to the mystery of who Jason Bourne is that the movies didn’t keep, though I do understand why, since the novels are based on the 80’s and had elements you can’t really translate to the 2000’s in a good way.

Ballsac McGee

The first three movies are like a complete trilogy. You should def watch all three. The fourth movie is a spin off that tries to expand the world of bourne beyond bourne himself and the fifth one is a forgettable legacy sequel that doesn't add anything. Doug liman planned to make a series when he made the first movie, however, he was a very difficult person to work with, very unprofessional and universal refused to make a sequel if he stayed on as director. That's when paul greengrass came in and he directed the two sequels. So, for supremacy and ultimatum, there's quite a drastic change in style. Greengrass has a background as a documentary filmmaker so that style carries over, lots of over the shoulder handheld, super close up, claustrophobic kinda shooting style. It's similar to what saving private ryan looked like.

Ballsac McGee

the novels were a lot more pulpy and classic james bond-y. they grounded the story for the movies and focused more on the psychological aspect of an assassin who's lost his memory which I prefer.

Keith Jones

"Come Get These Piles"? I don't know if it's a common expression in Canada or not. Down in my neck of the woods: "Haemorrhoids, also known as piles, are swellings containing enlarged blood vessels that are found inside or around the bottom (the rectum and anus)." If you have Piles, you don't really want anyone "getting" them.

Mati D.

Well, technically he got rescued at the ocean.

redddfer44

Idea: roleplay reactions to trailers! "Valley Girl Simone reacts to, like, No Country for Old Men." I believe Bourne's Canadian name was Paul K'eh...

Scott McClintock

If there's one thing worse than having a mismatch between an extended cut review and a theatrical cut home release, it's when the difference is only 29 seconds and difficult to cut around. Nvm: looks like it's just an extension during the dinner scene.. for some reason fast forwarding through davinci made it seem more exaggerated than just that bit.

Onno Smits

Bourne asks to pass Marie by saying: "I need to get that pile.", talking about the pile of hair he wants to put in the trashbag. That's why George said: "Come get this pile..."

Onno Smits

A lot of the "cool stuff" I remembered from this movie is in the second or third apparently, because it didn't happen... 😂 The shaky cam was less bad than I remembered too.

Tenn Seven

The "you don't have jurisdiction here" is an all-embassy thing. By agreement a foreign embassy (and all embassy cars, diplomatic pouches, etc.) is technically an extension of the embassy country. A U.S. embassy in Canada, for instance, is literal U.S. soil, and vice-versa.

Spacedone

A lot of people will tell you not to watch the fourth movie, The Bourne Legacy, with Jeremy Renner. It had a poor reaction from fans of the series simply because it doesn't have Matt Damon in it but it's actually a good movie and has a lot of big name actors in it and it's linked to the 2nd and 3rd movies.

Spacedone

I was waiting for one of you to say "Le Stakeout" and you didn't disappoint. :D

sarCC

I'll be the dork who says the movies are bad in comparison to the books. Actually, I liked alot of this one, until the very end. The movie series basically erases the main villain of the series. Also, Marie does so much more in the books than she does in the movies(I almost walked out of the 2nd one). I'd actually like to see a new adaptation of the series(the second book, especially) since this movie series only adapted the first one and ignored the rest.

DM DC

The 2nd movie is the shaky cam. I too am not a fan of shaky cams. I despise shaky cam during fights. Not sure why they did it in the 2nd. I think the 3rd too can't remember. The first movie is my favorite because it doesn't have the shaky cam. However the next two movies are still really really good The stories are really good. Legacy was okay it is a fun movie but there was something about it I wasn't a fan of. Borne, I liked but there are those that didn't.

Joits

What was hilarious was that they made such a big deal of the fighting styles they used in the movie and all the training that Damon did... only for us in the audience not being able to see a single thing because of the awful decision to film it with a shaky cam style.

Dr Ozzy

Embassies are considered foreign soil in every nation. So local police, national police, whomever is not allowed in and does not have jurisdiction without the permission of the embassy’s country.

Tim T—

When Simone, in their first Q&A, wanted to tell us about the bucket, I didn’t expect the bucket to be a coffee cup.

Lars G

The first 3 are the only ones worth watching in my opinion. I didn't care for the Legacy's jaunt into sci-fi drugs. The last Bourne movie was disappointing and I'd argue not worth watching.

Odd Thomas

The trilogy is great. Stop at Ultimatum though, the rest are soul-less cash-ins.

Brant

Chris Cooper is worth checking out. He’s a fantastic character actor. Lots of terrific movies and performances in his filmography.

Steve Arnold

Bourne Supremacy is a bit weaker, but it features Karl Urban. In my opinion Bourne Ultimatum is the best of the series. I would love it, if you would watch them on the channel. The one with Jeremy Renner is not worth watching. I haven‘t seen the last one with Matt Damon but it‘s supposed to suck.

Lou Gallucci

I'm gonna put out a recommendation for "Free Solo" after your reaction to the embassy climbing.

Odd Thomas

If you like Brian Cox I highly recommend The Long Kiss Goodnight, with Samuel L. Jackson and Geena Davis. One of the best 90s films, period.

Logan Kerlee

Super enjoyed watching this with you both! :) I remember seeing each of the Damon Bourne films in theaters with an old friend. He was super rad! xD Owns a shop in my hometown that I always hung out in. :) This came out in 2002, so I was 14 at the time. For a movie that came out then it was top notch. The action, the pacing and the music all fit together so well. I hope that you both continue the Bourne series! It really is a lot of fun! Well, at least the Damon ones are. My favorite would either be this or Ultimatum. The second one is the weakest but it isn't a bad movie by any means - it just isn't as strong as the first or last.

Logan Kerlee

Yeah! I had no idea why my version lost sync midway through twice. Thankfully there wasn't very many extended bits!

Martin Nicholls

Back in the day spy movies were pretty staid, in a lot of ways it was quite revolutionary. It hasn't aged *great* but it's aged pretty well and has some fairly good stunts. For sure the first three are well worth watching (and they get better) - the other two I think are worth watching but they're not spectacular as my memory serves. On embassies - they're sovereign territory of the country on the sign, the host country is required by treaty to protect them from the outside, but inside they are totally inviolable (and inviolable is the word used in the treaty, i.e. the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations). Headaches, dunno, maybe if you watch more of the series you'll find out ;) I have memories of really liking Ultimatum, and I don't think I was the only one.

Parabolica

The first three movies make up *the* best modern day trilogy imo; legacy was their attempt at a spin off/franchise after Matt Damon said he was happy with the perfect story arc of the trilogy and didn’t want to do any more Bourne. Legacy was a generic action movie, then the 5th the film…. Well I’ll keep my thoughts about that to myself. Hope you guys do the trilogy and 5th film eventually; although #2 is where shaky cam really came in to force. ETA Franka Potente is amazing and if you ever put Run Lola Run on your poll I’m there for it.

akaTheBARON

🖤"Come get THIS pile" ... totally stealing that, I feel like it's going to up my game in the bar scene LOL Anyway... Movie recs (and there is no theme to them): -The Prestige (Christian Bale & Hugh Jackman) -Ace Ventura -The Cable Guy (underrated Jim Carrey dark comedy) -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (The 1990 version) -Donnie Darko -The Room (cuz I know Simone has been DYING to see that one) -Kindergarten Cop (One of Arnold Schwarzenegger's most quoted movies LOL) -Last Action Hero (A very underrated Arnold movie) -The Other Guys (Will Ferrell & Mark Wahlberg = comedy gold) -Kingpin (Woody Harrelson & Bill Murry, directed by the Farrelly Bros) -UHF (Starring Weird AL Yankovic) -Beetlejuice (I'm not sure if I heard you both already saw this one or not though...)

TranceCake

The Bourne Altercation LMAO

James O'Sullivan

George mentions he expected this to be more "actiony". I feel like the Bourne films paved the way for an era of grittier action films. James Bond went from Brosnan to Craig and you got the Nolan Batmans as a couple of examples. Maybe just my perception but it did feel like ridiculous action films with ridiculous gadgets gave way to this style of film in the 00s.

james repka

The director here is Doug Liman. He also directed Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise, and a great earlier film that you should absolutely watch, Go with Sarah Polley, Timothy Olyphant, Katie Holmes and a great cast. The first thing I saw Chris Cooper in was Lone Star, a great indie film in which he plays the sheriff of a small town in west Texas investigating a 40-year-old murder that may have been committed by his long-dead father, who was Sheriff at the time, and is idolized by the townsfolk. Another recommendation. Limon didn't use "shaky cam" in this movie, but the other Bourne films were directed by Paul Greengrass who did. You almost mentioned 9/11 in the embassy scene. Though this was released in 2002, it was pretty much in the can by the end of the summer in 2001. Producers were concerned at first about how a movie with the CIA as the bad guys would play post-9/11. Before it was released they came back and shot an extra ending scene fin which Brian Cox finds Bourne and makes him an offer to rejoin the CIA (y'know, to be more "patriotic"). In the end they chose to release it as it was originally filmed.

Nathan Willett

I can hardly wait for the second one. It’s my favorite of the three.

Hamesque

The central mystery of "Who is Jason Bourne?" never really worked for me. It's clearly Matt Damon.

sarCC

Gonna jump on with everyone else saying to check out RUN LOLA RUN. Franke Potente is spectacular in it, and it's one of the most exciting action movies. And for something more in the vein of this espionage/spycraft, couple on the run genre, North By Northwest is a classic for a reason.

DeAndrew Greene

US Embassy is sovereign US territory. Immunity kicks in as long as you're a US Citizen for the most part so that's where the jurisdiction thing comes in.

Bishey

This is a very smart and well written movie. Probably in my Top 3 favorite spy movies ever. As you said in the review, it's quiet and introspective at times. It has an enjoyable love story and has some nice comedic moments. The action scenes aren't too frequent but they are very intense. The whole movie is gritty and feels lived in. It's very immersive. The camera shake is very tolerable in the first movie but it definitely steps up a notch with the second one. Paul Greengrass takes over as the director and it was his preferred way of shooting action.

PaulChristopher

In the books, the man pulled from the water tries to piece his life together with the help of a Canadian economist he kidnapped, then rescued. He learns his name, then discovers that Carlos the Jackal, a high-profile assassin for hire, wants him dead. He believes he was probably working for Carlos and betrayed him. Then he is told that he was actually a rival of Carlos, an assassin known as Cain. But it is finally revealed that a man named David Webb, a former soldier, was recruited by the CIA to go under deep cover posing as an assassin for hire in order to lure Carlos out of hiding. Jason Bourne was a man that David Webb had executed during the war when he discovered Bourne had betrayed his fellow soldiers. When the CIA recruits David Webb, he creates the "Bourne Identity," taking on the name Jason Bourne, rescuing people from Carlos, taking credit for Carlos' kills and other high-profile murders, planting evidence, making mocking phone calls to the police, creating the illusion that an assassin called Cain was moving into Carlos' territory. Meanwhile, the CIA thinks that David Webb has turned, decided to become Cain in reality. Treadstone is the name of the operation. And Carlos the Jackal has informants inside.

Robert C

I second you Bishey. This is definitely in my top three spy movies also. Only thing is, the other two in my top three are Supremacy and Ultimatum.

Robert C

Really hoping you carry on with the next two in the series.

Robert C

My favourite Brian Cox movie is The Flying Scotsman. He appears as a far less "Hollywood" actor and you can really get a sense of his range.

Smellwell

Eh, mediocre movie. But, the people voted for it. I wouldn't recommend watching the sequels.

Starromania72

I agree with other commenters re: checking out Franka Potente in Run Lola Run. For more shady speccy-ops-type thrillers with hair-raising car chases, you should definitely consider Ronin (1988) with Robert de Niro.

Haye Zeus

I also recommend Run Lola Run for more Franka Potente being a late 90’s crush.

Curaitis

The Trilogy is some of the finest Movieaction you can get. Hope you will watch the whole trilogy.

Robert Haynes

It has a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with 250,000+ ratings. You are allowed your opinion, but coming into a comment thread about the movie and just announcing it sucks with no other rationale is like pissing yourself in the middle of fancy party. It looks bad for you, and everyone else would probably prefer if you left.

wroot

The ending was really nice indeed. Him being able to track her, she being happy he tracked her. A little joke about ID :)

Steve H

I looked up the 1st address on Google Earth; the place is in Belgium, not titled as in Paris.

Philipp Roensch

This was better than I remembered, a bit cheese music picks and choppy edits on the action already. But otherwise filmed competently and a decent thriller. Loved Franka Potente as German love interest, amazing choice. The second is fine as well, but this franchise certainly fell into a formula and then ridiculousness to beat the previously grounded story. As IT nerd it was fun to also see all the 2002 tech back in action, Win98 and all that chabang - lovely.

Kyle Urbach

The grounds of an embassy are officially part of the embassy's home country. So the American embassy in Paris is legally USA territory and the French cannot enter it without an invitation unless they want to literally invade the USA.

Lana Gorgeous

OMG do you guys laugh a lot even on serious scenes. I guess you saw this as a comedy.

Habman

I agree with Lana. Time and place guys

Dan Corazza

Just rewatching this, and I noticed that no one in the comments answered your question about the fire escape. It USED to be a fire escape, and then it got too old and decrepit to be safe. So, rather than fix it, the embassy sealed it off behind two locked doors and two large signs saying NOT AN EXIT.
