I hope they do a Guardians of the Galaxy III reaction.

Christmas Vacation is really the only one in this series that is a must watch, imo. People will tell you that you miss out on a lot of jokes if you don't watch the first two movies first, to which I say "meh".

Mike

Oh fuck yes

Mike

Have they done 1 or 2? I haven't seen them do any MCU

The next one is European Vacation, then it is Christmas Vacatoon.

Love George calling out Simone for drooling over topless men and calling out George for drooling over topless women.

National Lampoon was a satire/parody magazine that was the outgrowth of the Harvard Lampoon, which was obviously a comedy magazine at Harvard. So this title is basically akin to, like, “Mad Magazine’s Vacation” or something. Also, George, since you love Simpsons references: you know who was the head of the Lampoon when he was at Harvard? Conan O’Brien, naturally.

Mike Miner

"Fletch" is another really good Chevy Chase movie but I haven't seen any reactors do it... not sure why! It's a tight and clever script, fairly short, and seems ideal for reactions.

National Lampoon was a magazine. They backed this and Animal House. It was a “brand”

This was such a funny film back in the day but I don’t know how well it’s aged. However, I think it still has some memorable funny bits like leaving the dead relative on top of the car and then at the door.

Happy Hanukkah

Yes, the Dumb and Dumber "Mockingbird" scene is an obvious [ahem:] lampoon of this one. Mockingbird is an actual (legitimate) song that has been covered by several artists, but my favourite version by far is this live rendition by James Taylor and Carly Simon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WM_R-6AKHE Regarding airfares, the "Good Old Days" certainly had better conditions (if you ignore in-flight entertainment and smoking), but the prices (especially for international travel) were higher. One reason for today's "cattle car" (or sardine can) conditions is simply that much fewer people could afford to fly back then; it was more of a luxury item. (With US prices set by government regulation.)

Christmas Vacation has a few Easter eggs from the previous movies, but certainly stands on its own. Plus it is hands down the funniest of them all.

Vegas vacation next please.

And Caddyshack was basically an unofficial Lampoon movie since it was almost all of the same people involved behind the scenes. They eventually transitioned to mostly just terrible direct to video sequels and just trashy “comedies.” The last successful movie of theirs was probably Van Wilder, which I can’t help but enjoy because of some of the performances, obviously including Ryan Reynolds. (Also, obligatory mention that Van Wilder was inspired by Bert Kreischer.)

That reminds me - they just made a new Fletch movie that’s supposed to be very good, with Jon Hamm playing Fletch (and his old Mad Men pal John Slattery is in it too). I gotta finally check that out.

If you reach the point where you have seen each of these movies several times, they grow on you. The characters are charming if you get to know them. It is a perfect series to watch if you don't want to watch a movie. Like when you meet a few friends after a while and you just hang around, drink a few beer, order a pizza and spend the evening talking about stuff. This movie is S-tier for these kind of situations. PS: born 1980, had time to get used to this stuff

I think i saw all of them many years ago. But i watched this one the most, so i remember it quite well. I think i liked the Europe one better and i almost don't remember anything from the Christmas one :)

Jason Pratt

I like European Vacation, but can confirm my favorite is Christmas Vacation. If you like 80s Chevy Chase I can’t recommend Three Amigos highly enough. It’s Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, and Martin Short. Very funny

Jason Pratt

I’m sure I would’ve eventually come across that word, but I do remember that movie introduced it to me.

Jay

Three Amigos would be worth it just for My Little Buttercup:)
