That was quite a story George. I am also playing Baldur's Gate 3. I had never finished BG1 and never played BG2 so I did those during July. Which act are you on? I am still in Act 1, it's ridiculous lol.

Rash Bandicoot

I love that you guys are doing this show! Thank you!

Paul G

The actors that play Higgins and his wife are actually married in real life, makes their story that much better!

Martin

It’s a great game. Unfortunately, Starfield is going to be occupying most of my free time starting Saturday.

Jeff K

So in episode 4, the other woman who was bidding on Jamie (Bex is the character's name) is Keeley Hazell, who Keeley Jones is inspired by, and who Sudeikis dated for awhile. She also joined the writing staff for the show, I think just for season three but I could be wrong. (She and Sudeikis apparently still have a good relationship.) Also in episode 4, as you might have been able to guess, Cam Cole is a real London busker. They apparently just stumbled across him in real life the same way they did in the show.

YearRoundHibernater

Cam Cole the singer in the first episode is a London street performer in real life, The Higgins's are married in real life too.

Jeff K

Also, Toheeb Jimoh (Sam) rolled a natural 20 when it came to charm and charisma. I cannot wait to see what he does next.

The woman who plays Ted's wife looked so familiar and I was trying to figure out where I knew her from for the entire episode. She was in the sitcom Better Off Ted. That one is hilarious. It's probably not going to get the views to warrant a reaction but you should both check it out for your personal time.

beefjerkywizard

Robbie Williams is/was a big popstar in the UK and Robert Smith is the lead singer of the Cure

Onno Smits

This show is so fucking good! Higgins is my favourite character, I think.

REDR58

This show is the most non-American football I’ve ever watched. Definitely a great show for sports fans and non-sports fans alike. I just watch baseball, American football and basketball.

Eric Brown

Heads up for the Canadians - the speech in Episode 6 that Ted gives Jamie about practice was an inside joke for the sports fans in the audience - its almost an exact reenactment(dialogue and all) of an extremely famous sports tirade by Allen Iverson (Philadelphia 76ers Basketball Player) at a press conference - back in the day, this broke the very early sports internet! Enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGDBR2L5kzI

Will Moffett

Jason pulls some serious hotties. He was with Olivia Wilde for a while before he realized the bitch was crazy haha

Will Moffett

As much as I love sports, you don't really need to care about soccer at ALL to enjoy this show. If anything, it's a side story. This show is so well written. I'm pretty sure I laugh my ass off and also tear up almost every episode. Keeley and Roy are my favorite characters. There are other's I'd mention, but lets just say they aren't as likeable in season 2..(trying not to spoil)

Jeff K

Yeah, it's really more of a workplace comedy that just happens to be set around a professional sports team, rather than a straight up sports show.

REDR58

That seems like a million years ago now. I remember it well, being the Sixers are my team!

gobmob2000

Ted is right with the 999, the irony is that the reason the brits chose 999 was because back in the day we used to all have rotary phones and dialing 999 by accident was the least likely because you had to go all the way round on the rotation dial. But then we got buttons and that got screwed up.

I know Roy Kent is supposed to be a very thinly veiled expy of Roy Keane, but it just doesn't feel realistic. He's way too nice. "I had fun once. It was awful" - Roy Keane It also seems Keeley's character is an expy of Keeley Hazell. Which made it a bit surprising that the actual Keeley Hazell suddenly showed up in Episode 4 to have a rivalry with her

"NO FIGHT CLUB" with his voice crack might be in the top three quotes of the show Also, regarding George's essay after episode 5: Marriage Story is my favorite representation of marital, uh, "reconciliation", so to speak. Might hit home hard, and it sure is ripe with drama, but it's an incredibly cathartic, warm, comforting and, dare I say, educational movie to watch. Speaking of Scarlett J.: "Her" does so much with these ideas and has skyrocketed in relevancy quite recently, plus the movie is just gorgeous in so many different ways on top... it definitely has some of those qualities for me. Heartbreak is so paradoxically enjoyable to watch for me, just is. Misery... not so much, just people trying to get out of a rut. In that same vein, I wanted to point out that there often is some kind of malicious overreaction involved. That's the nature of relationships, and we all want to deny it - but everyone looses their cool. Be it because some asshole driver almost killed you on your bike or because your to-be-ex accuses you of heinous shit, heartbreak with two degrees of destruction within all the involved families is well within reach. That's before the insanity that is casual, wide-spread, general child abuse of varying magnitudes, and whatever evil bs may spawn from momentary lapses of judgement. Which this show has been driving home so hard until this stage: you commit to servitude, and all of a sudden you are dissociating from the majority of your life. I still am haunted by my dad's devastation after finding out they would divorce eventually, how he had a perfect grasp on the odds of a marriage even working out and the commitment it takes (which he more than adequately fulfilled, mind you)... but shit, as they say, happens. And believe me, there are so much worse twisted tangles between dual-friendship families and swapping partners and whatnot, all happening right next to you. It gets MESSY. And yeah, that's definitely a reason why it might feel so refreshing? It is the optimistic take, either way. It still is heartbreak and there had to be much worse than what we got to see so far, at least that's what I would have imagined. Minimal drama and very much heart, but somehow not over-the-top for me was Jon Favreau's "Chef". Don't really want to describe it, but if you want just pure enjoyment with something that feels like stakes, somehow, that's your movie. I really could go on and on. Animatrix' The Second Renaissance was super wholesome, fully recommend that amazing collection of shorts.

A couple of things now that I've finished these three episodes. Ted didn't have to throw in anything, it was about the players and those from the UK sacrificing something, at least that's always been my takeaway since Beard didn't either (although that also would mean that none of the players from countries outside the UK would have needed to, but they're still part of the team, so ...). Also, for the scenes dealing with Ted's marriage ending, Jason must have really pulled from his real life with everything that happened with Olivia Wilde in those scenes, although I'm not completely sure about the timeline of all that going down and when they were writing/shooting the show. Either way, it must have been great experience to pull from as an actor, but terrible to go through again for Jason. I love watching these full length reactions again with both of you because it's fun to see the parts of the show this early that are going to connect through the rest of the seasons, all the way up to the very last episode in some cases. Can't wait to watch it all with the two of you!

Brandon Meng

A lot to say about this show and you guys reacting to it. Was over the moon excited when you announced it'd be on your channel and your reactions haven't disappointed! So much to cover in these three episodes but I'll just say I totally relate to sensitivities about cats. When I was a kid we lived in a dinky place next to a really busy street and I lost 3 cats that I can remember in a span of maybe 4 years and now anytime I see people losing cats in a show like this, it really hits home!

Monica Alarcon

Good thing they changed the 999 number for the new one in 2006: 0118 999 881 999 119 725...3

Joits

I've seen several Ted Lasso reactions and I always look forward to this part to see who knows the infamous "practice" speech!

Joits

Oh man, I can't wait for the next batch of episodes! And can I say I'm so thankful you guys are doing several episodes at a time!

Drew Acheson

George are you pumped for Starfield? I’d love to chat about video games with you sometime.

MacGuffinStuff

I loved "the curse" storyline. At first I thought it was a joke about Mexicans being superstitious (a lot of us are, even I am a little lol), but sports players tend to be too (especially baseball players, because baseball is such a weird sport, with streaks and slumps, and the infamous curses that Ted mentioned). Of course it was really about uniting the team but it was also funny. Loving the show 👍 Oh yeah and Robert Smith is the singer of The Cure (one of my all time favorite bands), the joke is because he wears makeup. By the way, there was an early South Park episode where Robert Smith fought a Godzilla like monster and he actually voiced it (Trey Parker and Matt Stone are also big fans of The Cure).

Opti_Frog

Actually, the UK emergency number is 0118 999 881 999 119 725... 3.

Stephanie Bedworth

If you guys want another kind of light hearted, feel good show to check out in the future, I would highly recommend either Schitt's Creek or My Name is Earl. I think you guys would get a kick out of either of those.

Chase Lonnergan

I don't know which is better, thst someone made a reference to The I.T. Crowd, or that you got the number right. Well Played!

Solomon GRUNDIE

Are we 6 for 6 on Simone tearing up? (I'm here for it)

Ben

For an ''In between 'Breaking Bad' series'' I'd like to suggest 'Derry Girls'. Even just the first season would be so great to see, that would only be six episodes. It's a fantastic show, and it would be a good chance for you to watch something more international.

Stephanie Bedworth

Oh, man. You've just met one of my favorite characters of the whole show. Nannnanananananana Dani Rojas! Rojas! Dani Rojas!!

Ariel Sims

It's fantastic!!! I would like to second this. There is an actress in the 3rd season that I thought was Simone! I would love to see if they think so too.

Ginger

Robin Williams was an actor, mostly known for his fast paced, often improvised comedic roles and hairy forearms.

beefjerkywizard

If the TV lineup became Ted Lasso, Schitt's Creek, and Derry Girls I wouldn't know what to do with that much awesome. As for TL, the grouping of episodes you two have picked is perfect. Can't wait for next week. Cheers! (FYI when a character says cheers to Ted he responds with "Night Court" which was another sitcom around the same time as Cheers. Another small joke I adore this show for)

HeyHeyJK

And, since you brought up Cheers, it starred Ted Danson who also stars in the series "The Good Place" which is in my trifecta of feel-good shows that also includes the aforementioned "Ted Lasso" and "Schitt's Creek" (all three also require tissues on many occasions); three shows I can rewatch almost endlessly. They would also love "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" another joyous show that, like all of the above, is hilarious. I do need to watch "Derry Girls" but definitely need subtitles on for it! I'm pretty good with accents, but those Northern Irish accents are tough sometimes!

Felreign

If you guys want a great series that isn't too long, I would strongly recommend Gravity Falls, its only two seasons but its awesome.

John Rybock

One thing about flops - you can get the ball back or get a free kick, sure. But soccer players run like 9km per game, so you're running all that, then you're in a 40-50m full sprint trying to control the ball while someone is on your ass, and you get tripped... you may want to stall to catch your breath for a minute or so if you can.

Maarten Martens

I'm slowly getting around to this series. Episode 4 was the first time I had that 'Scrubs'-like turn on a dime of light hearted humor to drama and I loved it. After the first 3 episodes it was Roy that kept me watching, and now the Roy-Keeley dynamic is the thing that stands out for me. There is still a lot of cringe and 1-dimensional characters, but I know they do it on purpose so I just hope they will win me over in the end. The whole curse thing is a good example, at the moment it feels like a cheap way of getting the team to bond, but that's because I have little to no affection for the team. It could well be that I will love it once I watched the whole series, but for now I will just cherish the Roy-Keely moments. Please don't hate on me for 'not getting it' or being a negative Nancy, I will definitely watch the rest and I'm sure there will be more interesting things to come.

NOT Chase Lonergan

Just so happy doing this show. Hope continue without long breaks to post:)

Thats why I'm never gonna have a kid with anybody. People can't go longer than 10-15 years without getting bored or whatever. My grandparents just had their 65th Anniversary, and I'd honestly bet everything I have that in 10-30 years that kind of longevity to a marriage or relationship flat out will not exist at all anymore. There will be no 50th anniversaries, there will be 60ths or 65ths, etc. I'm probably just horribly jaded, but thats my belief. People like don't even have the desire for that kind of long lasting relationship anymore.

Craig

The "bumping heads" thing from Roy and Jamie's confrontation happens because in football if you raise a hand to even threaten a punch you could be thrown out of the match and potentially banned for multiple matches and hit with an aggressive fine. When Eric Cantona kicked a fan he recieved an £80k fine and an eight month ban, and that was almost thirty years ago before the game really got flooded with cash.

Amelie W

On one hand, you may be unusually jaded and don't think you want a relationship to last longer than 15 years, but on the other hand maybe you're unusually jaded and what you want isn't indicative of what all people want? Speaking as one of all the people you're talking about.

Cameron

Such a mature breakup, until they screw it all up later but oh well.
