Please react to or add to movie polls, Elvis [2022], Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (best watched before Loki season 2), and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. 3 Good movies.

Oh no you dropped it on CriticalRole night. Guess I’m not going to sleep today.

Spacedone

The movie that proves the adage that there can be too much of a good thing.

Simone has the right of it. It’s 60 paces total. 30 each and then move in by 10 each at a time.

The problem with this movie is if John is really dead he sacrificed his friends in Osaka and all of the people there for nothing. Cain and his daughter being free was not worth the cost of all those lives. More people would have been better off if John would have just surrendered instead of dragging his friends into his mess and getting them all hurt/killed. The movie should have been John solo killing the High Table and w/e else. The movie already had unrealistic superhuman levels of endurance and back breaking injuries brushed off. Should have just had John Wick be an unstoppable killing machine. And lastly having a blind assassin stretches the suspension of disbelief to the limits. No reason at all to have him be blind. Just made it too unbelievable that someone as skilled as John could not instantly take him out. Cain should have been easily defeated by all the other assassins, never mind John. There is a limit to how far you can take ridiculousness without crossing the limit despite how "cool" a blind assassin is. I also get that John being so unkillable is unrealistic as well but a blind assassin is just so much more over the line. I get this is just an action film and you should not to take it too seriously but I think they went too over the top with this one.

Imran Sallay (He Forgot His Memory)

I quite like the ending, bittersweet as it was. John went out on his terms, as a free man. That's the best he could have asked for.

For more Keanu, watch The Replacements

Haphazard physics lesson incoming: black suit, white suit... doesn't make any difference whatsoever, and if it did, black might even have preferable properties. Yes, it will heat up more quickly, but in any warm sun that difference is negligible for worn clothing, hence why even desert tribes and nomads of all sorts really don't care that much; you will see any color out there and your natural ability for your lower back to produce ungodly torrents of sweat and electrolyte residue is going to have a much bigger impact on your mental well-being than your robes reaching max temp half a minute earlier. The way black body radiation work, it is kind of a toss up between rapidly heating and also quickly radiating away the heat (black) and doing both slowly... which I guess illustrates that either choice can suit certain situations better. For the most part, it just really doesn't matter, a good fit and feeling ok about what you're wearing has more say in how much you're going to suffer wearing your favorite Borat outfit.

By the third one I was just bored tbh

Joe

Fuck yes! What an action movie.

droodly

"I have a memory of feeling indents on cards". Simone is a card cheat confirmed.

Samuel Bruce

Yeah there's the spinoff Ballerina with Ana De Armes, and a spinoff show called Contintal based on Winston's early days.

Denashi

Killa is played by Scott Adkins who, yes, is wearing a fat-suit and is a very accomplished martial artist!

Logan Kerlee

SUPER enjoyed this one! I'd be alright with more even though it's totally understandable if they don't. All in all, great movie with loads of action and fighting. Brilliant scenes with a touch of touching drama. All in all, really enjoyed this one. :)

Monica Alarcon

Yaaay finally!!, I've been holding off on watching this movie hoping you'd do it... this is gonna be awesome!

JLee

John Wick is both Sisyphus and the boulder.

There were supposed to be two movies, but shot at the same time - either they pulled a bait and switch to cover the ending - I think there were genuinely two separate movies but the first was supposed to be released in 2020 and that thing happened, I think they spent that time hyperediting it into one movie. BUT two things - the dog perks up and looks at something at the end there, and they and Keanu haven't ruled out making more - in fact IIRC Keanu said he'd do more if they can come up with a compelling story. Honestly though I suspect Keanu is feeling like he wants to slow down at his age, I'd be surprised if we get more JW - what won't surprise me is if we get more movies in universe - TBH Mr Nobody could be quite an interesting character to dig into. There's so much fan service and references in this movie it's crazy, including I swear to god a Lost reference. On the card thing, you should never mark cards in any way, I imagine braille ones exist, but yeah no.

Chase Schleich

George makes another crazy prediction that comes true... kind of. It just wasn't Donnie Yen in a fat suit. It was Scott Adkins. Crazy how close George got though lol.

Martin Nicholls

Desert tribes wear their clothes loosely, there's a big difference with a tight-fitting shirt. Funny enough there's a lot of research on that, there's actually a convection current created which helps cool the body, though I suspect it's almost a wash trade.

Grand Moff Slackin'

I’m still demanding an investigation into these so called “predictions” that are too frequently correct. To quote GWB: “Fool me once, shame on m…you? Fool me, and I can’t get fooled again!”

Eric S

John Wick is definitely Neo and this universe is the matrix.

Eric S

Also, Im sure you've looked it up by now, but Keanu is down for Chapter 5 if there was a good story and justification for his coming back. so you guys predictions may be right. Thanks for this one. it was a lot of fun to watch it with ya.

Jared Winn

The dog noticed something at the end. They left it intentionally vague so they can end it or continue, depending on the reaction from the audience.

Things I love about this movie: My homie Marko Zaror gets to show off his skills in a big budget action movie. He’s the giant latino martial artist. He’s from Chile, and he doubled for The Rock back in the day. He’s over 6 feet tall, jacked and he has Bruce Lee level speed and insane kicks and flips. Also the big guy at the water plant night club, that’s Scott Adkins, one of the best on screen martial artists working today. He was Deadpool in the first wolverine movie (his body. They CGI’d Ryan’s face onto his for most of the fights). Then he was in Doctor Strange, but most of his career he’s been making b-level classic hong kong style martial arts films from back in the day.

Jacob King

If there must be a fifth one (as it stands the series is basically perfect) I think they should model it off Godzilla in Hell or Nick Cave’s Gladiator sequel. I want to see John fighting his way through the underworld with the people he’s already killed coming after him for revenge. Demonic versions of Santino and Viggo with supernatural powers and finally a confrontation with Satan. Bringing John back just to fight more gangsters would be anticlimactic. There is the Winston TV series on the way and I think a totally different spinoff with Ana de Armas.

djKENTO

the top down scene y’all said was like a video game? It’s inspired by a game called The Hong Kong Massacre and a Donnie Yen movie called Dragon Tiger Gate…

Gary Fixler

When he first appeared, something about him reminded me of the bad guys in 1990's Dick Tracy, with their prosthetics and bodysuits.

Gary Fixler

It feels like the Marquis was right, with his speech at the card table: "You know why you won't take your freedom? Because this is who you are, who you've always been. You are a killer, an orphan we plucked from the street and honed into a knife, and it is the killing that gives you purpose. A man without purpose is nothing." While he was a killer, fulfilling his purpose, he was indestructible. The moment he was set free from that purpose, his energy faded, he collapsed, and then ceased to be.

MatthewBrown74m

Half way to film the video has few seconds slow

Eric S

I had the rental for a couple days, so I decided to watch it again with you guys. I noticed the second time around that they blatantly said Wick was going to die at least 3 times throughout the flick, and Im just at the step scene.

REDR58

I’m surprised no one has mentioned it already, but the whole business towards the end of the movie where the DJ inside of the Eiffel Tower is calling out where John Wick is to everybody listening and raising up the bounty is an homage/reference to 1979 movie called “The Warriors” directed by Walter Hill in which a DJ is used to taunt/direct gang members into tracking down a rival gang that everyone is after. It’s kind of an odd movie but worth a watch at some point I think.

Noe Ramirez

I honestly wish they'd just end the franchise on the high note that they did. Hopefully the future stuff they make is great and I'm proven wrong, but to me I'm just worried they're going to run this into the ground. But these 4 movies as a whole are awesome. Chapter 2 is the weakest to me but still pretty great, and 3 is my favorite.

Philipp Roensch

I found the ending quite beautiful and fitting for a film pondering death and consequences the whole time. What the world building here offers at least is the potential for many spinoffs. There is also the production/practical reason for Keanu to be 50+ in this movie and probably would struggle more with endless more, I hope that "John Wick" now is a mantle to be passed on and these chapters can end on a high note. For me this chapter really is the most beautiful one, creative throughout and full of so many perfectly lit locations.

Plot Twist: They’re still in the Matrix! 😎

Noe Ramirez

Wherever the movie series goes, good or bad. These four movies really are genre defining films. Now when I see action movies I often compare them to this series. The action is realistic and brutal, but the characters and world are just the right amount of goofy that makes it fun to watch. And the set pieces are just amazing and really well planed out. Awesome movies.

An amazing Hiroyuki Sanada film you still need to see: Sunshine (2007)

djKENTO

The Bowery King asks John “How’s the farewell tour” and John replies “It’s coming to a close” and the king replies” So it would seem… so it would seem” with a smile and a nod. They faked his death from the start. The whole thing is getting to a point where he can get out.

UncleGaGa1979

Donnie Yen in a fat suit? That's already happened shortly before the pandemic started back in 2020. It's called Enter the Fat Dragon. The fat suit isn't as big as Eddie Murphy in the Nutty Professor movies or Jack Black at the beginning of Tropic Thunder. I'd say it's closer in size to Tom Cruise's character Les Grossman in, funnily enough, Tropic Thunder.
