Over two years ago Kali wanted to play a Kalashtar in our campaign with the Second Chances. We sat down and she suggested some changes to fit into her backstory, and to help tell the story she was hoping too with Rosalind. Over those two years, as we changed more, evolved Rosalind, eventually we decided too much had changed for her to be a Kalashtar anymore. And so, we ended up with our first homebrew species, the Oneiraxi.

What are Oneiraxi exactly? They can be born to any parents. They are two minds, but one soul. When an Oneiraxi dies, that soul is reincarnated into a newborn, with one of those minds becoming the child and the other, the Somni Spirit, a guiding light as they grow.

The Somni Spirit retains all of the memories of their past lives, but the Oneiraxi Child is like any other and needs to relearn all of life's lessons, though with the help of their guardian Somni spirit. We released the Oneiraxi earlier this year, but since then we've added a bit more. When an Oneiraxi lives, dies and is reborn, the two minds swap places. The Somni Spirit is now in control, but with no memories, and the previous one becomes the new Somni Spirit with all of their memories return. This process is called Ashala, the Eternal Dance.

In our Oneiraxi Expanded we have added two new Divergences to the Oneiraxi, the Omenscarred and the Lucuidtouched. These divergences came from the question of what would happen if the Ashala was thrown of balance? An Oneiraxi would become an Omenscarred. And what would happen if these Dreamwalkers became more as one, more attuned with one another? Then they become a Lucidtouched.

To find out more about the Oneiraxi, or to add them into your own home game, check them out in the Player Options Collection!

If you're a member on our Free Tier, we'll be releasing the original Oneiraxi Supplement (does not include the two new Divergences) on Tuesday with our 7 new magic items, and the October Free Content Pack!
