We mentioned a few weeks ago that going forward we wanted Patrons to be able to participate in helping us decide what content we created. We held our first impromptu poll through the Discord and people overwhelmingly voted for the Malzari Species for our April release.
Going forward we will hold the polls here on Patron. This poll will be to determine our release for May. Here's a brief description of the idea for each option. Note that some are a bit more thought-out in comparison to others, but could still end up a bit different even from what is described here.
Arboreal Species. This is a species that we have a very specific image of in our head, but not much else in terms of history or culture. Imagine a mostly forest-dwelling people who are slender, but athletic, with long limbs and limited ability of flight. Something more bat or bird-like than primate. They'd have a strong focus on athletic and acrobatic traits.
Blood of the Beast (Sorcerer Subclass). This Sorcerer concept is based on the idea of the blood of some monster flowing through your veins; werewolf, vampire, etc. You are not this monster specifically, but you can call upon its powers to transform in some manner. This will be a Melee-oriented take on the Sorcerer.
Spell Thief\Spell Bandit (Rogue Subclass). This will be different from any magic-oriented Rogue such as the Arcane Trickster. It will instead focus on countering Magic-users, and using their magic for your own benefit, or helping magic users in your own party.
The Nightmare (Warlock Subclass). A Patron that is powered by and communicates through Nightmares. The inspiration would be having Freddy Kreuger or some other horror-icon as your Patron who visits you in Nightmares and gives you powers themed after using creature's fears against them.
Arcane Vampire (Wizard Subclass). One of the less formed concepts at the moment, the idea here is a Wizard who can siphon\steal power and magic from others. Not just spellcasters, but anything that would be considered magical including creatures or objects.
Circle of the Chimera (Druid Subclass). The most ambitious of our concepts, the Circle of the Chimera takes inspiration from the early OneDnD concept of changing druids Wild Shape. This Druid will be able to customize a personalized Wild Shape that will scale with level and allow them to keep up with other classes in combat while Wild Shaped.
Oath of Joy & Laughter (Paladin Subclass). The original inspiration for this Paladin Oath was 'What if Robin Williams was a Paladin?' If you love a good Dad Joke, this will be the Oath for you.
Mad Scientist (Artificer Subclass). This would be our first Artificer Subclass, and is Frankenstein inspired. Allowing you to take Monster parts and create your very own Monster-pet that you can customize during Long Rests.
At the moment there is no end date on this poll since the content release is still two months out. You can also vote for multiple entries. Patron levels of Adventurer and up can all participate.
