Great review! It's a pity I didn't play that DLC. I would've liked to achieve a better ending in the game as I didn't side with Gippers either (I liked the Social Commune of the robots too much, ahaha). Didn't realise that people behind this worked on the original Fallout games. So that was an interesting bit of company's history. I really liked the amount of choices the game offers, both story choices and gameplay choices. There were plenty of opportunities to avoid combat or give yourself an advantage in it via other skills. And so many choices actually mattered. Oh, I also really enjoyed the soundtrack to the game, particularly the battle hymns and country songs. They really fit in every scene they played. I hope more games put this much attention to a good soundtrack. It's unreal how much a good soundtrack can do for a game's atmosphere. Here is my review of the game that I wrote just over a month ago on Steam: https://steamcommunity.com/id/matseb2611/recommended/719040/

Yeah, I fully sided with the robot commune, too. Again, SPOILERS, but apparently the ideal base-game situation is to transfer the Reagan AI to Ranger HQ which basically makes the Gippers go along with you because you have their god held hostage. It doesn't upset the robots too egregiously, either, but I felt my solution was the more justifiable one. I wish the base game offered a second path to the 'ideal' ending. It seems like someone else ought to be able to figure out how to operate oil rigs. It's not like the oil rigs blew up, and you have very smart robots living next door who still 'supply fuel' to all buyers. But it's a fairly minor complaint, and the CotHD DLC opens that second path... though it also offers some morally questionable choices to navigate in achieving the goal. Who would have thought it is hard to achieve an ideal outcome while rebuilding civilization in the wake of nuclear destruction?!
