Pretty sure i didn't miss anything but having played 8.3 and then updating to this one, my save just went straight on to the end of content screen, was this update just the tidy-up and finalization of the full update release?

Yes, the release after the beta is just me fixing stuff. No new content. I also do stuff like add sound effects, add the replays, and so on. I have a release checklist that I go through every time.
