It's hard to see these episodes knowing what comes in the future. But I think it's important to see because only then can we really notice just how much Woojin leaving affected Chan. Regardless of why he left, the effects of it were clearly significant, and more for Chan than for anyone else. One thing that I think a lot of people forget is that Woojin also experienced the same thing Chan did in a way before he got to JYP. He was an SM trainee and was scheduled to debut with a group but was ultimately not a part of it and had to watch as all his friends and fellow trainees debuted without him. So I think that and the fact that they were the same age meant that Chan found someone who truly understood him, and to me thats the most heartbreaking thing about him leaving, is that Chan lost that. Again. I honestly marvel at Chan's ability to soldier on through everything he has experienced and still come out the other side a wonderful human being. He makes me want to be better simply by example

I hadn't know that about Woojin's experience at SM. Thank you. I know human curiosity makes us want to know what happened. It's only natural. So it's interesting to see this kind of content and try not to read too much into it while also having that curiosity flare while also trying to respect their privacy. I think overall, it just makes me sad.

This episode makes me sad on so many levels. You're right I think, when Woojin left/was kicked out (we don't even know for sure which of the two it was, other than speculation based on the things we do know which leads me to believe it was the latter, but again...no certainty) Chan lost someone he could lean on while doing his job and being strong for the rest of them. Chan mentioned that side of their relationship a few times. So that is so sad. But what makes me even sadder is that part about him being "independent". I looked up which 9th-10th grade is in Korea. It's not quite age 14, more 15-16, but still way too young. I know a little of not having anyone to rely on at that age and it's hard. And it took me until a few years ago to finally acknowledge the effect that had (hmmm see how bottling up your feelings works out for you in the end? ;-) ). Anyway, that breaks my heart for him. That at age 15 he was literally living alone. Having to take care of everything on his own. That's not independent, that's being alone. And it's lonely. And during those years he kept losing people he was close to (at least from his immediate life) either through them debuting or from them giving up and going home. And it fits in with a few things he's said in vlives and interviews and something JYP said once. JYP said that he worried about Chan at some point. That Chan seemed depressed. And Chan's talked about those years in terms that translate to depression. He said that without the members he would probably not have been on earth anymore. That's depression. And it says something, not just about how hard the training years are, but more about how it would be for a teen to be so far away from his parents and having so much pressure and no one to simply take care of him. It makes perfect sense that he wanted to create a family with the members. I think for him that is more important than it is for members in other groups. But Chan needs them to be his family. And so he worked hard to have that. And that brings it back to Woojin. He's lost a lot of people, had to be "independent" at a very young age and wanted that family......so to lose Woojin must have hurt on so many levels for him. Anyway....I'm glad you're not skipping the Woojin episodes. He was a part of the early years and it helps understanding more about who Stray Kids are now to see those parts too and to know what happened to them. So thanks!

It really does make you feel sad. Being alone at that age meant not having the mental or emotional tools yet to be able to truly process through how he felt and what was happening. Even "mature" kids just don't have the ability to deal with it on a literal biological level. And just when he was getting to the stage in his life when he was probably developing that skill set, he lost a member of his established family in Woojin. It must have been heartbreaking.
