This really is a legendary stage. I love the way they change arrangements for stages. SKZ never disappoint when they do it and it really means that they keep STAY engaged, because we all want to watch every performance since none of them are 100% the same. It's obviously more work for the guys, but that honestly makes me appreciate it more.

Yeah, I hadn't realized these stages would all put a different spin on the songs they perform. I agree, it does make me want to seek out and watch their stages because of it.

I believe this was one of their first performances on this big of a scale and maybe even a turning point in terms of how they perform now. I can't remember all the details, but a little behind the scenes of this is that they weren't nominated for anything on mama 2020 which surprised everyone, but mnet decided last minute to have them perform alongside ateez and the boyz to announce kingdom. Stays were pretty mad at the time and stray kids didn't have much time to prepare, everyone was expecting them to perform god's menu or back door, but they came out with victory song (they mentioned at some point later that the company suggested god's menu or something but they wanted victory song) and it turned out to be one of the best and most talked about performances of the night! 😁

Thanks for reacting!! This performance gives me chills every time. Especially Changbins part right before the final chorus. This is probably the top performance when it comes to passion in my opinion. Some of their Kingdom Stages may be bigger and better, but Victory Song just has such a "Let's fucking do this" feel to it. Like it was the last performance of their lives or something, lol.

I feel like the fact that they didn't have much time to prepare may be partly why this performance seems so full of passion. With Kingdom they had much more time to fine tune things and iron out wrinkles, which of course made very flawless stunning performances. But with this, you can see a few different mistakes throughout the performance if you watch closely. Changbin almost runs into a backup dancer, I.N. makes a mistake in the choreography and misses one of the moves. Even the backup dancers probably struggled with synchronization. But all of those things don't really impact the performance because of how hard they're performing. I feel like they probably knew they wouldn't have time to fully perfect the performance and that they would have to compensate for that with passion. Especially since that wasn't the only thing on their plate, Hyunjin also did a second performance in 2020 MAMA with Ateez's San and The Boyz Juyeon. Poor guy must have been exhausted trying to practice all that in a matter of days.

Of course it did! It was a great performance. A little thumb at the nose, too. You didn't want to recognize us for God's Menu or Back Door, then you don't get to have it.

K-pop Auntie

By the sounds of it, it was a big 'ole message, too. Don't want to recognize us? Doesn't matter, we're still winning it all.

K-pop Auntie

I'm sure the chip they probably had on their shoulder helped out with the passion as well. A bit of a "we'll show you."
