If you haven’t seen them before, the Jackie Chan Drunken Master movies from which Kishimoto took inspiration are excellent. Also really liked that Kimmimaro let Lee take his “medicine.” He was in a fight to the death, no one would blame him for taking the opportunity to go for the kill. But, he wanted an honorable fight, and I like to think he empathized with Lee due to his own medical issues. Really humanizes his character.

I was SIX watching this arc and everyone at school was talking about it too. I remember as kids talking about how scary we thought Kiba's fight was. Being hunted by a monster that can smell where you are freaked us all out.

Drunken fist fight scene is always so cool and hilarious and kimimaru just letting him drink is always pure gold but it never made since to me that right after surgery Lee just jumps into action🤣🤣 even though shikamaru's fight is a bit slow its still peak, i'll give it to kiba facing death and still smiling takes huge resolve and the sand pulling up still gives chills especially gaara coming to help lee!!!!
