Vinny, you absolutely should try Total War: Warhammer 3! It's one of the best games ever. Each faction has a unique playing style and gameplay mechanics that are completely different from other factions. It's a little bit overwhelming at first, but the tutorials are fairly good. I'd love to watch a stream of you getting into it. The overworld gameplay is fun because you are building your armies, researching new tech and moving around the board. The actual fighting part is really fun too. There are so many crazy units on the battlefield. It's a real treat to watch the battle unfold.

Mystic Quest was great! It had the intended effect on myself and my mother, getting us into FF3 later

The box art for Starcraft was Terran over here in Sweden, at least the one I had.

Vinny, or anyone else looking for a new home for old games, thought I'd share that UMich has a Computer & Video Game Archive with games going back to the 70s. People can check out games and play them there on-site (or at least that's how it worked when I was there). I donated some old games they didn't have yet some years back. I don't have a connection besides being a former UMich student but thought I'd share just in case it's of interest to anyone! https://www.lib.umich.edu/locations-and-hours/computer-and-video-game-archive
