This is exactly what wanted after Brad's jury service ended!

I got my first jury summons ever like 6 years ago for a federal case that lasted about a week. Like you Brad, I am self employed and work from home. I pleaded it would hurt my financial situation quite a bit, since I had to turn work down, I don't have paid time off(obviously), and I had to postpone another client's work. But, as soon as they realized I didn't have to deal with an employer and I wasn't a shit head I was picked pretty quick, haha. A year turn around for people that have served in CA is crazy. In NY, if you've served on a jury for a state or federal case, you're not eligible again for 6 years; If the case is over 10 days it's like 8 years, I believe.

The only time I've ever gotten a Jury summons, I showed up on a Zoom call with 30 other people in it. A Judge or somebody from the court showed up a few minutes in and said, "Thanks for coming. We've already filled out the jury pool. You're all marked as attended and free to go." But hey, that 5 minute Zoom call got me out of work for the rest of the day.
