Counterpoint: don't trust the symbol of your societal expectations. I love Silent Hill f

It took me 110 hours to 100% silksong lol. Its a long tough game

85 hours or so in Silksong here, but that's for 100% with minimal guide use. Most of the playthroughs I've seen have been quite a bit quicker

A note about SHf: I heard that they added an option to skip larger combat sections towards the end game, I suggest to not skip anything, especially not cutscenes marked as new, on NG+ and on, it's more different than you'd think. Instead I recommend just playing through the subsequent runs on story or casual combat difficulty to cut down on damage sponges and look at a walkthrough for ending requirements so you can make strategic saves - it's well worth it to explore anew even if you're not combing every little corner.

Re: Silent Hill: f, so "partner" in this context is "aibo" in Japanese. You would use it to describe a strong, loyal companionship between two people ("buddy", "comrade", "partner in crime"). It comes from the context of both characters having played that make-believe Space Alien game from when they were kids, and attempting to keep that kind of child-like friendship going even as teens. But also, it's a way to prevent one from seeing the other as potentially romantic, keeping the foundation of their relationship strong while remaining emotionally distant. But also also, a boy and a girl having this kind of relationship and calling each other "aibo" puts them on equal terms of respect in a way that would NOT be considered normal in 70s rural Japan, which is one of many things that leads the characters to have the attitudes they have towards her.

Elden Ring has a Stake of Marika next to most boss doors, which makes you respawn right there, so even Miyazaki has moved away from long / brutal run backs

I'm starting to think Pocket Casts hates Nextlander

Silksong hour counts always surprise me. It's a challenging game, for sure, but I got the first ending in about 18 hours (and wrapped everything in under 30). I'm no pro gamer and I'm guessing some Hollow Knight muscle memory kicked in, but I really don't understand how people are doubling or tripling my fairly average time.

I have 99 hrs and 31 minutes for 100%, lol; didn't have that much trouble with any of the bosses (except the very last one), but I was slowly exploring, hitting every wall, trying different builds, and so on. Literally think it's just a play style thing?

I suppose, I found my favorite build fairly early and did a bunch of side stuff. But probably missed a bunch that I'm not even aware of, though I thought I took every path? This seems to happen a lot, I remember doing most of Elden Ring in 60 hours and it sounded like 100+ was pretty common.
