October is always one of the best months for the Watchcast, if we do say ourselves, and for this month of dark temptations we've got one of the goopiest movies of the '80s in Clive Barker's Hellraiser! Join us as we meet Pinhead and the gang for the first time, compare the film against Barker's original novella, and ponder just how tempted we'd be to solve the Lament Configuration.

You could totally do a month of novelists directing film adaptations of their own novels / short stories: Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive Michael Crichton's The Great Train Robbery William Peter Blatty's The Ninth Configuration Norman Mailer's Tough Guys Don't Dance

Heads up: Needful Things is available on youtube posted by "Joe" for free. The version of Hellraiser on Prime has random facts which are worth checking out. The best one is about the industrial sdtk that the studio ended up replacing with a house band, apparently they were released as regular albums by the band who's name escapes me.

After listening to Alex talk about this movie I've watched so many times, I need to read The Hellbound Heart. Just got the ebook and can't wait. Thanks guys

Blatty also directed The Exorcist 3, which was based on his novel Legion. And that one's way better than it has any right to be.

Not a horror guy and I was worried about watching this. But man, I LOVED it! The special effects were so striking and the story stuck with me. I was afraid of Pinhead as a kid, but during his first dialogue scene I instantly understood why he's such an icon.

As a Brit the mover and Kirsty's love interest having American accents really threw me off for a bit. Other than that I enjoyed it quite a lot.
