Not to be the the well aCktUaLLy guy, but as someone who runs desktop Linux daily on a gaming PC, Nvidia Linux support is really good now. Like really good. The only part where there is not feature and performance parity with AMD is on directx 12 games where Nvidia gpus suffer a 10-15% performance degradation vs running natively on windows (worst case scenario). This gap is closing slowly as improvements to the new feature branch driver are made as well as proton improvements. This only happens with certain games and under certain conditions. If you’ve got a GPU on the higher end of the product stack (ie rtx 4070 and up) that perf delta is of little consequence since you can just brute force your way through it. Also valve is working directly with nvidia with future nvidia driver support for steamos which will have downstream effects for all other distros.

Regarding Belmont's Curse, the mush and lack of responsiveness was a huge issue for me on PS5. I've heard folks say the same thing about the other console versions as well, but last night I tried the steam demo and the difference in *feel* was shocking. I'm not sure which version Brad was playing, but if it was a console version I would strongly recommend he (and any other prospective players) try the PC version. A night and day difference in responsiveness. It won't alleviate any possible issues with the game design or what have you, but it made a big difference in playability for me.

The untitled Mass Effect trailer was just leaked. I thought it looked ooked pretty neat 😓

Been "encouraged" to use Claude at work (I do corporate accounting). And while it has some uses for summarizing tabs or forecasting, I still need to know what I'm doing. That decompilation discussion feels like if someone dropped a balance sheet into AI and went "ok, do accounting!" The only difference is most people understand what Mario should look like so it's a good example of how AI used by amateurs spits out results in other fields.

I have started regarding LLM AI the same way I do asbestos and DEET: Has some undeniable valuable use cases, but incredibly damaging with unregulated use.
