I swear over the past year i've been setting up my NAS every couple weeks after I resolved some issues or learned something it would get talked about here. I feel like we are on parallel paths. I bought a 42U rack, had to do a whole bunch of stuff to get hardware transcoding working on TruNAS etc. I think i'm finally in a place where i'm happy with it and really future proof (83 TB zfs2 and cloud backup). The only thing now is I hated the idea of using h.265 when I started ripping as so many players still didn't support it but i'm worried we are getting to a point where maybe they will and he idea of ripping all my media again is basically a big not gonna happen. I guess I could convert the h.264 stuff but I haven't figured out what the best settings are or if i'm losing quality etc.

Alex now is your chance to move in with that listener who is rebuilding a highschool!

I seriously sympathize with Alex on the house hunting in NJ. The market's we've looked into are just insanely expensive or houses that need a bunch of work. It's pretty frustrating.
