Chapter 293

Sophia and the others returned to her domain so she could gift them all some extra magic like she had offered them. Naturally, that made everyone, especially the wolves, quite excited. Although, Ari had some concerns about getting the same amount as Fen or Aura because they worked so much more for it. However, neither of them nor Sophia accepted this complaint.

“Are you ready?” Sophia was still holding Aura’s paw when she eventually opened her eyes again because she had finished concentrating on something and smiled at her instead.

"Are you going to share the plan with the class and tell us what you're doing with me, or is it a surprise?" The female wolf tilted her head.

“Now that you’ve gotten rid of your authority, I’m going to fill you back up to full with mine.”

“And then…?” It didn’t sound much like a plan to her.

“And then I’ll keep going and fill you up some more~.” There was still a distinct lack of a plan. “I’ll push through your current barrier and try to pull it with me. Once we reach your new level, I’ll, uhh… I’ll tell you when we get there!”

“You haven’t gotten to figuring that part out yet, have you?” Aura simply stared at her.

“Well, I need to make my magic stick inside of you.” She shrugged. “In order to do that, I have to feel it first, so it’s hard to put into words right now.”

“Fair enough.” The wolf reacted with a light nod. “Okay, go ahead. Try not to overfill and pop me, though, okay?”

“I’ll try my best!” Sophia gave her a thumbs-up in return.

“I am so happy that I’m last with the boost!” Ari wasn’t a fan of the conversation. “Also, I’m not cleaning the mess, so you better not pop!”

“Wow, that’s morbid.” Aura and the blonde had the same reaction.

“Don’t give me that!” The jaguar didn’t appreciate that, either.

"I kind of would appreciate it if it doesn't happen, either.” Fen sounded the tiniest bit awkward. "I've grown used to her, and I would like to keep her around.”

“Isn’t he romantic?”

“Maya, you should learn from him!” Aura and Sophia were on the same wavelength.

“Just get going already." Fen had had enough, and not just because he wanted it to be his turn already.

“Sure thing~.” Sophia smiled at him before placing her other hand on top of Aura’s paw to sandwich it between her hands. Afterward, she started concentrating again while countless tiny magic particles slowly flowed into the paw and got absorbed into it.

“Ohh, that feels pretty nice! Somehow kind of cozy and warm.” The female wolf seemed to enjoy the process. “You made it sound way too dangerous earlier.”

“We haven’t gotten to that part yet.” The blonde lightly shook her head. “The interesting part will be once you’re at your limit again and I try to push past it.”

“Makes sense.” She reacted with a slight nod. “Okay, hit me!”

“Mmhm…” Sophia returned to concentrating and increased the amount of magic she was pumping into the wolf, but it suddenly stopped after a few minutes. “You’re back to your original authority, but it seems like your body does not accept any more magic from me inside of it anymore. It kind of feels like a barrier.”

“So, it doesn’t work?” Aura sounded audibly disappointed.

“I mean, it would've been too easy if it simply kept going without any work.” The blonde shrugged. “I probably need to increase my output and use more of my authority at once to try and jump the barrier.”

“Do your best!” The wolf was glad she had a plan B ready. “Or worst. I’m not actually sure what’s the better description here.”

“Will do~.” Sophia closed her eyes again and applied a little bit of pressure to her hands to sandwich Aura’s paw between them even more. A moment later, a dense sphere of magic particles enveloped said area. Then, the short tiger tensed up for a second as she pushed the raw magic into Aura’s paw.

“Gmn!” Aura’s entire body twitched when the magic entered her.

“Ah, did that hurt?” She naturally noticed her reaction.

“It was more like a pinch.” The wolf shook her head. “More surprising than anything else.”

“That’s good to hear!” Sophia seemed relieved before she started smiling again. “There is more good news, too. I just used a lot more magic, and I managed to push past the barrier. Your body is currently accepting my magic again, so it might actually work!”

“Ohh!” She sounded more excited again. “It feels a lot warmer now, too. Slightly tingly, as well.”

“Glad to hear!” Sophia was relieved that it didn’t hurt. “Okay, let’s keep going and see if we can double your power~.”

“Absolutely!” The wolf reacted with a big nod.

The blonde started concentrating again and continued to slowly pour her magic into the wolf. More and more magic particles flowed into her paw for the next couple of minutes before it eventually stopped.

“Okay, the total magic inside of you is now exactly double your original limit.”

“My entire body feels warm, too.” Aura stretched her entire body. “I feel weirdly full and tingly all over, too. Way more than earlier.”

“Does it hurt?”

“Not at all.” The wolf shook her head. “The fullness doesn’t feel too nice, but it’s closer to the feeling of having eaten way too much rather than pain.”

“Fair enough.” There was little she could say there.

“It doesn’t seem like I can use it, though.” Aura sounded a little confused. “I can feel your magic inside of me, and how much it is, but it feels foreign. In fact, right now, it doesn’t seem like I can magic at all. I sure hope, for you, that this is a temporary effect.” The tone in her voice changed. “I’d get slightly upset if I suddenly can't use magic anymore."

“Don't worry.” Sophia smiled at her. “The magic inside of you right now is just to shape your new, uhh… reservoir? Storage? Something like that.” She briefly scratched her cheek. “You won’t be using my magic, but I will use it to stretch you out.”

“Kinky.” Maya and Steph, who had been silently watching until now, just like everyone else, had the same reaction to her wording.

“Shush.” The blonde rolled her eyes while looking at them before focusing on Aura in front of her again. “Once it fuses with you, your own authority should start filling up.”

“Ahh, okay!” The wolf nodded a few times. “How do you even know that?”

“That’s an excellent question!” Sophia paused for a second while tilting her head. “No idea, actually! I just come up with stuff, and when it feels like it should work, it usually does work.”

“Ahh, good old overseer intuition, makes sense.”

“…” The tiger stared at her.

“Don't look at me like that.” Aura stifled a chuckle. "Mira does the exact same thing all the time."

“Mira makes it work!” She shook her head. “I can just kind of guess if it works.”

“What if you unconsciously make it work and that’s why you think it does?”

“Well, it’s getting late, isn’t it? I’d say it’s enough experimenting for today.” Sophia let out a yawn while glaring at the wolf. “I’ll activate your new magic tomorrow. If I feel like it, I mean. Probably.”

"I AM SO VERY SORRY!" Aura immediately started panicking.

“You never learn, do you?” Fen just stared at his partner.

“I can’t control it!” Aura looked back at him. “I say it before I notice!”

“I have the same problem.” Maya felt rather sympathetic with her.

“You should’ve started with me.” The male wolf looked at the blonde tiger. “I would never treat you like that!”

"A bit much, big guy.” She simply stared back at him. “We’ve been with each other for long enough at this point to know that you definitely would.”

“Not in this very specific situation!” He shook his head. “I know when it’s appropriate to tease and when not.”

“Do you now?” Sophia believed that even less.

“Just let me suck up to you in peace so that I can get my magic boost already!” He snapped.

“Thank you for being honest~.” She actually liked that. “Give me five more minutes with Aura, okay?”

“Fine.”

“I’m sorry, but could you please fix me?” Aura started getting nervous.

“Of course.” Hearing the worry in her voice, Sophia’s smile got even bigger. “All there’s left is a little push.” Saying so, she focused on the wolf’s paw between her hands again. A moment later, she gave it a hearty squeeze.

“Hn-!” In that exact moment, Aura’s entire body spasmed again. “What was that just now? Every single muscle in my body just contracted!”

“That was the start of my magic fusing with your body.” She gave her a thumbs-up. “It should soon fully disappear, and then your new own authority will start regenerating slowly.”

“Oh, so that’s why it feels like the magic inside of me is slowly going down and disappearing?” She tilted her head.

“Yup.” Sophia reacted with a slow nod. “Once you’re back to zero, my magic authority has fused with you, and your own regeneration should kick in again.”

“Should?” She wasn’t a fan of her phrasing.

“I mean, I definitely feel that I lost a bit of my power, which isn’t coming back, so I’m fairly confident about it.”

“Mhmm…”

“Uhh, did the last bit hurt?” Ari finally got a little curious about the process. “To make you shudder like that just now doesn’t bode well for me.”

"It was more the surprise part once more." Aura shook her head. “At best, it was like hitting your paw against a corner, I would say.”

“Stubbing your toe does hurt a lot, though.” The jaguar translated it to her own body.

“Not wrong, but in relation to things, it’s not too bad of a sacrifice.”

“I guess so,”

Afterward, the group waited for Sophia’s magic to fully combine with Aura to see if her own regeneration would kick in again and find out if her authority actually grew.
