Chapter 300
The group was still exploring the ruins of the demon city when Steph and Sophia were suddenly attacked by a pack of griffins. Naturally, things went about as expected for the mythological creatures. Utter and complete defeat, that is. Sophia simply portalled three of them into her domain, where Blu and Lime instilled quite a bit of fear into them while Steph humiliated one of them even more by climbing on its back and riding it.
“Alright, everyone satisfied?” Sophia was back with the others after her brief excursion with the griffins and smiled at them. The massive 200-meter-wide portal to her domain was still open above the castle ruins in the air, and she also added a second, smaller one on the ground for non-flying monsters. Both of them were perfectly see-through and showed the savanna biome on the other side.
“More than that!” Steph was beaming. “I got to ride a griffin! Best fantasy day ever!”
“I’m also happy that I finally got to pet a griffin after something like ten years after Feyfey didn’t let me!” Chloe was in a good mood, too.
"I'm glad that I got to see a griffin up close and personal and survived it, but right now, I'm more concerned about that." Anna pointed at the portal above them. “I thought we said not to put griffins in our savanna biome?”
"We said that we would wait until we see them before deciding," Sophia smirked at her. "Well, no, it was a spontaneous decision I didn't really think about.” She scratched her cheek. “I really think they blend in perfectly there, though. It’s on the very edge of the biome, though. If you don’t like it, I can easily section it off and move somewhere else, don’t worry.”
“Mhmm.” The princess paused for a second. “Now, I kind of want to see it.” She warmed up to it really quick. “Will they even go there again, though? You let them out of the portal almost immediately after all.”
“We have to wait for that.” The blonde shrugged. “I’ll leave the portals open for them, but I’m not going to force them inside.”
“Ohh, that’s great!” Steph happily clapped her hands. “That means even if they come to live in the biome, I can still go here to go for a fly!”
“Sure.” Sophia just smiled at her.
“Let’s go!”
“So, does that mean you’re going to invite more stuff to your domain?” Aura got curious about the plan.
“Animals and monsters for now.” The tiger looked back at her. “I mean, I probably don’t have to worry about anyone else getting curious about my portals around here, right? Well, I'd immediately notice anyway, so it doesn't matter anyway."
“Yeah, unless the demons spontaneously decide to return to their city, which I doubt, no one will probably ever come here.” The wolf nodded a few times.
“Perfect!” Sophia clapped her hands. “Alright, should we do more ruin exploring or start heading towards the ocean? For now, I feel like we saw everything of interest here.”
“Ocean, please!” Steph instantly raised her arm high in the air.
“I don’t remember there being anything else of interest around here, so I agree with the dog.” Fen agreed with her.
“I need to find and fight the elder dragons!” Aura’s tail started wagging.
“I also would like it very much if we start heading to the demon continent soon!” Chloe sounded excited, as well. “It will be truly new to me, too, because Feyfey only showed me this continent, so I’m really looking forward to it!”
“Any votes against it?” Sophia looked at Maya, Ari, and Anna specifically.
“Absolutely not!” The princess energetically shook her head. “I can’t wait!”
“Yeah, we’re good with it, too.” Ari and Maya accepted that resisting was futile, so they instead tried looking forward to it.
“Alright!” Sophia was glad that everyone was in favor. “Which direction should we go to reach the ocean, and how far away is it?" She curiously looked around, but she also knew there was no way she ever would get it right.
“This way.” Fen gestured to his right.
“It’s not too far from here, either.” Aura nodded a few times. “Probably no more than another 300 kilometers. The monster country is a bit of an oval shape and not round, with the layers the same width on all sides."
“Perfect!” The blonde lightly clapped her hands, took out yet another portal stone, and threw it in the direction Fen was gesturing with the same mindboggling speed and force she used before to skip the desert.
----------------
A couple of minutes of waiting passed, and the portal finally opened after seemingly having reached its destination. The inside of the portal showed an enormous beach with white sand and the seemingly never-ending ocean right behind it.
“Me first!” Excited as ever, Steph immediately jumped through the portal before the others followed after her.
“Wow, this is such a pretty beach!” Arriving on the other side, Ari nodded a few times while looking around to take in the massive beach with its almost white sand with only a hint of yellow and the massive pale blue ocean spanning over the horizon. “As I said before, orange sand is perfect for deserts, but a beach gets at least twice as beautiful with sand like this!”
“True!” Maya agreed with her.
“I guess we have to accept a draw on that topic, huh?” Sophia looked at Anna while scratching her cheek.
“Yeah.” The princess reacted with a small nod.
“Exactly.” Maya and Ari smiled at them. “We love both.”
“Smooth.” Chloe had to give it to them before pointing at the ocean. “So, how do we tackle this again? We went through so many ideas and iterations that I'm not sure anymore what we ended up deciding on."
"We're taking the boat!" Steph's reply was immediate. “There’s no way I’ll allow any other method of traveling! I’ve been looking forward to it ever since we got it!”
“Oh, right!” The fox clapped her hands. “We only had sex on the boat so far, so I forgot that we could use it for its actual purpose, as well.”
“Hehe.” She got oddly smug about that.
“Are we still bringing Kel along, too?” Ari also focused on the water. “As an escort and protection. I’d feel a lot safer on the ocean with him around.”
“You know I already was stronger than him before my magic power increased by around 50 times, right?” Sophia just stared at her.
“You’re just a friendly neighborhood tiger, though!” The jaguar looked back at her. “You’re only scary if someone makes you angry. I need someone who looks intimidating from afar to scare away sea-monsters in case they can’t sense magic power or ignore it!”
“For the proper use of my title, I can’t really say no there.” The blonde shrugged. “Sure, I had already asked him, and he agreed, so he probably would even get upset if we don’t rely on him at this point.” Sophia nodded a few times. “Let’s see if he understands the assignment.” She then threw a stone into the ocean and opened another massive portal when it came into contact with the water's surface, around 300 meters from the beach.
While waiting, the blonde opened a second portal right at the shore, and a moment later, the sailing yacht they bought a while ago slowly emerged out of it and gently floated on the ocean right in front of them. Once Fen and Aura turned into their smaller form because the boat wasn’t big enough to support all of them, the group boarded it and waited on deck for the dragon to join them.
A couple of minutes passed before there eventually was quite the stir in the big portal. Kel’s head first appeared through it before he pushed the rest of his massive, iridescent body through it. Once he finished stretching himself in the ocean, the dragon moved his enormous head towards the boat and focused his eyes on Sophia.
“I assume you called for me?”
“I sure did~.” She smiled at him. “Thanks for coming!”
“What can I do for you?” He then paused for a moment to look around. “Oh, would you look at that, the so-called monster country, huh?” Kel focused his gaze land inward. "It's been quite a while since I last been here.”
“Remember when I asked you to guide us to the demon continent?” The blonde lightly tilted her head. “We were about to head out and wanted to ask if you’re still okay with the plan.”
“I never go back on my word.” His voice overflowed with pride. “You definitely won’t need my assistance, but I’ll use this chance to collect more things from the big ocean to use in my own ocean inside your domain. It will be very helpful.”
“Ohh!” Sophia was a big fan of his plan. “Thank you very much! Just ask if you need a portal to move things!”
“I will.”
“Alrighty!” Sophia then turned around to look at the land behind them while clapping her hands to get their attention. “Everyone, say goodbye to the beastfolk continent! We’re going on an adventure and won’t see it again for quite a while~.”
“Let’s go!” Steph was just as excited.
“I bet we’re going to have lunch in the castle before the end of the week.” Ari wasn’t quite on the same level of enthusiasm.
“I thought we wanted to visit that cute café Chloe found in the capital the other day on the weekend?!” Maya also raised her voice.
“Don't ruin the mood!” The sisters didn’t like their replies.
“I can’t wait to explore a truly new place!” Chloe smiled at the duo.
“Same!” Anna nodded a few times. “Seeing a completely different kingdom will be fascinating for me as well!”
“Thank you very much!” Sophia and Steph were glad that at least some were on their side.
“I mean, they do have a point, though.” The princess scratched her cheek. “Thanks to the portals, we’ll return quite often, won’t we?”
“But even so!” The sister didn’t accept the complaint.
“Fair enough.” Anna couldn’t blame them. “Let’s go!”
“Let’s go!”
“Sure.” Maya and Ari just smiled at them.
Finally in the correct mood, the girls collectively waved at the beach to say goodbye before turning towards the ocean to start the new leg of their adventure after a long time of just talking about going to the demon continent.
