Chapter 307
Sophia, Anna, and Ari decided to head to the royal castle to tell Menzor and the others about the changes in their authority, because Sophia felt they should inform them. On the way, the blonde was intercepted by Fey, who was a little upset over the fact that her baby, Chloe, had also been boosted, and now was even further away from the regular life that she had hoped her to have. However, Sophia had many convincing arguments to completely shut down any complaints the fox had.
“Oh, my favorite puma is around~.” Sophia arrived in the castle and promptly ran into Nina and Vivi walking together in the same hallway as she was. “Hello to you, too.” She then waved at the golden-haired jaguar.
“Oh, would you look at that, my favorite blonde tiger came for a visit.” Vivi smiled back at her.
"You two already get along, huh?" Nina casually returned Sophia's wave.
“Of course!” The duo had the exact same reaction.
“What brings you here?” The jaguar looked at the blonde while tilting her head. “Vivi and the others mentioned that you and your friends went to the monster country before then leaving the continent altogether, which is still beyond crazy if you ask me!"
“A good question!” The puma nodded a few times. “I didn't expect to see you so soon again! Ah, well, you have your portals, so I guess it doesn’t matter, huh?”
“Exactly.” Sophia smiled at her. "We actually already passed the monster country and are currently sailing over the open sea towards the demons. The ocean actually is a little boring right now, so we’re doing all kinds of side activities to pass the time.”
“Wow.” Nina had no better words.
“You really are something else!" Vivi was also quite impressed. "Wait! You wanted to show me the center of the monster country! Did you forget about that?! I was sooo looking forward to that!"
“Don't worry~.” The tiger gave her a thumbs-up. “I’ve put a portal there because I also have some unfinished business there.” She still wanted to put the demon city ruins into her domain, after all. “Next time I go there, I’ll take you with me.”
“Yay!” She happily clapped her hands. “Thank you so much!”
“Don’t you even think about going there on your own, though!” Nina suddenly glared at the puma.
“I know my limits.” Vivi crossed her arms while shaking her legs. “I value my life, too. There’s no way I’d go there without the overpowered, uhh… whatever Sophia is.”
“Your friendly neighborhood tiger.” She smiled at her.
“Yeah, sure, that.” The puma rolled her eyes.
“Anyway, so you got here to pass the time because traveling was boring?” Nina got back on the initial topic.
“Not really, actually.” Sophia shook her head. “We, Anna and Ari got here earlier, decided that now was a good time to tell Menzor and a few other people some news, as we had nothing better to do."
“News?” Nina paused for a second. “Wait, is that why there was such a massive commotion throughout the entire castle earlier? I’ve never seen this many people frantically running around here!”
“Yeah…” The blonde scratched her cheek. “And that was just the calm before the storm once I reveal my part of the story, so get ready for even more commotion.”
“What happened?!” The couple had the exact reaction as they raised their voices.
“You’ll find out later~.” The tiger lightly waved her hand. Just like with the griffins in the monster country before, she was currently keeping her authority low by constantly pumping raw magic through a portal into her domain to hide her new real powers, so they had no idea what was going on. “I’ll tell you once I informed Menzor.”
“Okay.” As it seemed actually important, the two had no intention of pestering her about it any further.
“Oh, but feel free to take the portal I came from to my domain and take a look at the boat from there. It’s marked in the portal hub. Maya, Steph, Chloe, Fen, Aura, and even Kel are on or near the boat, so you could get a look at the open ocean towards the demon continent while being perfectly safe. The meeting with Menzor might take a while after all.”
“Ohhh!” Vivi’s eyes started sparkling as she faced Nina. “Please, please, please, please!”
“Haa…” The jaguar let out a sigh, but she had no means of winning against her overly excited girlfriend. “Fine, but only for a little bit.”
“Let’s go!” Vivi immediately dragged Nina's hand and dragged her down the hallway that Sophia had come from earlier.
“Hehe.” Sophia let out a chuckle as she watched them leave. Afterward, she finally started walking toward where she was detecting Anna, Ari, Menzor, and a good few more people of interest.
----------------
“What have you done to the girls?!” The moment she arrived at his office, the king immediately stared at her with big eyes.
“It’s great to see you, too." Sophia looked back at him before smiling at Kira and Ari’s parents, Daria and Stella, who were also in the room and looked at her with a similar expression. “The two had a great glow-up, didn’t they?” She had no intention of making this conversation easy.
“Don't even try!” He didn't buy it. “The two already told us that you boosted them again, like you already did last year!”
“How would I have been able to boost them again?” Sophia cutely tilted her head while pointing at herself. “Look at me, the two now have more magic than I do. How could I possibly have given them more power than I possess? There are limits to what magic can do, you know?”
“Huh.” The king looked confused for a moment and then concentrated on the blonde, but that didn't make things better for him. “WAIT!” He instantly got loud. “You’re still the same as before, but my own daughter exploded in power! Ari, too! Both of them are stronger than YOU now! YOU, who was supposed to be the most illogical being besides the overseers! WHAT IS GOING ON?!”
“What he said!” Kira and Ari’s parents had the same reaction. “WHY ARE OUR BABIES STRONGER THAN THE SOPHIA?!”
“Well, I had a good run, but it’s time for the power couple to take over my role of common-sense destroyer. I always knew Ari was born for this role since the day I met her, and now she can finally live out her dream!”
“…” Anna just slowly shook her head while staring at her with a rather disapproving expression.
“I’ll jump you!” The common-sense destroyer with the black hair was much less passive-aggressive about the matter. "Tell them right now, or I’ll take advantage of you pretending to be weaker right now." Ari cracked her knuckles while glaring at her. She really didn’t appreciate the common-sense remark.
"A-Ahaha…” Sophia reacted with an awkward and slightly intimidated chuckle.
“What does that mean?” Menzor kept looking at the blonde. “What are you hiding?”
“She learned a new trick to hide her real powers!” Anna also had enough.
“What?!” All four parents had the same reaction.
"Since when has the castle turned into a no-fun allowed zone?" The blonde let out an exasperated sigh before she sat down on the empty red armchair next to her while crossing her legs for extra effect. Then, she moved her hand to the back of her neck, where she was hiding the portal to her domain that was used to sap her magic. A moment later, it briefly shone in a bright light, and Sophia’s authority instantly grew by around 50 times and returned to the usual new level. “Happy now?” She then glanced at Anna and Ari again.
“No.” The two shook their heads.
“What in the name of everything holy just happened?!” Menzor got even louder. “W-What happened to your magic?!”
“Why are you so much more powerful?!” Kira had the same reaction. “I can’t even make out how strong you are anymore!”
“Hold up, why are you feeling like Mira, the overseer of magic now?!” Menzor concentrated on her for a second and was shocked by just how much magic he could feel radiating from her.
“Nuh-uh!” Sophia vigorously shook her head. “I’m not even CLOSE to Mira when it comes to power. A singular strand of Mira’s hair probably still has more magic in it than I do when you compare the two of us!”
“It doesn’t feel like that, though.” The king slightly shook his head while the other three parents did the same.
“That’s just because I gained so much more magic power that the difference between you and me has become too big to make out with regular senses. Anna and Ari, who also have gotten much stronger, can make out the difference between Mira and me.”
“Huh, what do you mean?” Anna tilted her head when she heard that.
“Yeah, you and Mira feel exactly the same.” Ari nodded a few times.
“What?!” She couldn’t believe that. “There’s no way you two can't differentiate between Mira and me!”
“It sucks if your friends aren’t on your side, huh?”
“You definitely deserve that.” The two were still a little upset about the earlier gaslighting.
“Fair enough.” The blonde couldn’t actually blame them for that. “Anyway, again, Mira and I aren’t even close to being the same power. Yes, I got incredibly strong, but trust me, compared to her, I still might as well still have no magic at all.”
“But how? And why? And what?” Menzor still had many questions left. In fact, he had a lot more than before for obvious reasons.
“A magic experiment of mine had some unexpected side effects and caused me to rapidly and painfully grow my magic power in an instant.
Afterward, she explained a little more about her accident and how she ended up increasing her magic by around 50 times in the process. Naturally, Sophia let out a lot of details there, including the creation of Lime, because there was no need for them to know.
Once she was done with that, the blonde also explained how she decided to share a part of her newfound powers with her friends, which led to Anna and Ari becoming as strong as they are right now.
When she finished her story, it was time for a break, which she spent with generously applying healing magic to Menzor, who had been massaging his temples for quite a while already. At the same time, Kira, Daria, and Stella started questioning their daughters about their new powers and how they felt about them.
