I said for years Link's Awakening should get a remake. It has a compelling narrative that a lot of people haven't gotten to experience, and it could greatly benefit from more buttons and a few other modern sensibilities. Naturally I was pretty excited when I heard we were finally getting one. Then I saw the art style they chose, with the big, dumb heads, and I lost interest. Stupid Nintendo.

A mildly pedantic but important correction: you *don't* lose currency when you die in Blasphemous! Instead, accumulating Guilt (bloodstains), of which you can have up to 7 in the world, will reduce gains of future currency while active instead. You can even pay currency at specific places to purge all the guilt at once. So it's hardly a exact copy over as you imply during your listing of similar things between games.

Ooh, nice choice with Vision Soft Reset. I wonder if it was brought to your attention by the same Gamasutra article as the one I read that brought it to mine?

Great video Mark! I want to check all of these games out, my copy of Link's Awakening is arriving soon. Also your mouse cursor on the top left of the screen during the Blasphemous segment was freaking me out! xD

Hey, Mark! (Hi, everyone! New patron here.) Are you playing any of the Apple Arcade games? I swear, this thing has some quaaaAAAAaaaality games in it! I set aside my Switch altogether (having only picked it up a couple times to play Smash with friends and also to HONK), and I’m having an absolute blast with games such as Spek, The Pinball Wizard, Assemble With Care, Tangle Tower, Cat Quest II, and, above all others, WhatTheGolf. Seriously, this game is fantastic and everyone needs to play it.. Game excitement aside, I really feel like it deserves a full episode to it. Mobile games are good enough, Mark! They are! As someone who hated to see all the potential inherent to gameplay with these machines full of quirky built-in input methods be squandered in freemium bullshit design, this is incredibly refreshing to see.
