Just a little snippet I’ve discovered in the last few days that might help folks organise their choice script stories.

If your work lends itself to sectioning, splitting everything into various scenes, or maybe optional routes, etc. You can using comments, labels, and the goto function to create indented sections that can be minimized when you’re not working on them.

My method goes like this:

So my first scene in Chapter 2 takes place in the kitchen, so I can use that as my section label. The first thing I do is create a comment with the text Kitchen.

Then, selecting all the text for that section (everything that takes place in the kitchen) I press Tab to indent it by one, and place that text on the line after the *comment.

If I were to test run this now, it would return an indentation error, stating that the indentation on line 11 was unexpected. To solve this problem you need to ‘bridge’ you *commented sections with a *goto and *label tag.

This will then allow you to shrink down you work into manageable bite sized chunks, that if nothing else are much easier to navigate in the raw format.

Hope this was helpful!
