Hello folks, 

Here is the early patron exclusive demo for Chapter 2 - Section 1.

This features about 14,000 new words, two new scenes (two and a half technically), and some sizeable lore drops. 

You will not be able to access your save files from the public demo (or if you can, you shouldn't be able to), so you'll have to read through from the beginning if you want the early access. 

The public demo update will be in roughly two weeks, so if you're absolutely heart set on continuing with your current characters and don't want to read through it all again from the beginning, it's best to hold off and wait till then.

If you have any feedback, or find any bugs, etc, please let me know either through messaging on Patreon, or using the private patron tier chats on the discord, I don't want details of the story getting out before the public update if I can avoid it.

I think the concept of three components making a being was not only an interesting one, but you handled the introduction really well! The way you explained them within the story was easy enough to grasp (which might not sound like much but my brain is very, very small and i tend to struggle when unfamiliar words are introduced), and the journal entry adds some nice depth for further understanding. I especially enjoy the concept of Weard, a shadow being a part of the soul but also it's own entity in a way? Fascinating!! I'm curious though, if not too spoilery, the journal entry mentions the Weard showing itself to those who share a bond with the individual, was that what L saw or was it "simply" MC's Feorh? Also L was the only one looking straight at MC... 🤔 Anyway, to simply answer your question - well handled exposition!

That's a relief! As for L, remember what K said: "I eased the ties between your feorh and your bánhús." So that would imply that they were looking at the Main Character's Feorh, wouldn't it. And I don't think it's too spoilery to say that yes, they were indeed the only one able to see it. Interesting, no? 😉

just finished reading the update and damn! so a) something about the mc does not belong, b) their soul... seems to be at odds with their body, c) marrin left his "mark" on both the mc and the child, d) the mc is being hunted, e) the ~ leaf incident ~ and f) the unwanted suitor. you did say that revealing anything about them would spoil more than half the story, but you implied (if I remember correctly) that the suitor has some kind of interest in the child as well — and k's "so there IS a child" comment struck me as.... peculiar? I am burning to know how long the suitor has been in the mc's life/how long they've been aware of the mc. everything that has happened to the mc has led them to where they are now: a stranger in a strange place. sure, the mc is in the process of building a support system but these people have known the mc for a few months — and now people are getting slapped around by leaves when they upset the mc? peyton's "haha it's not the mc's fault.... ha ha... hmmm" worries me because that's what toxic suitors do: they isolate you from the rest of the world and rush in to fill the void that's left behind. marrin, the mc's parents/siblings/etc — everyone in the mc's life has a habit of, mmmm, disappearing, let's just say. the leaf, the coin, the frosted jar, the rot in the water — hmmmmm. but the mc and child are not the only newcomers, are they 🤔

Oh I love all this theorising! May I assume you enjoyed the update? 😄 I don't think I can answer any of the questions you've posed, not without very big spoilers at least. But, some of the things you've brought up haven't ever been picked up on before, so kudos to you for that! I think you are very much going to enjoy the next chunk of chapter 2, maybe even more than this one. It will definitely give you more questions to ponder 😄
