Patreon movie poll winner!!!

Dark City! We watched the Directors Cut because Google stated the theatrical spoiled it and boy did we have fun figuring out this plot!!!

Completely blind reaction! None of us have seen this one!

Excellent! From all the movie picks it was the one I hoped you will watch the most. It is such a unique blend of sf and noir/mystery story. I think I've suggested this title two or three times. It will be great to watch how you are figuring out the story.

This is a movie I'm glad I looked at the differences for versions, going in without the story laid out was perfect. Theatrical vs director

Yes, that is true. I wish that for example original "Predator" had this version too and I am glad that the theatrical of the Aliens never included some of the story which was filmed. This one is the opposite. It was incredibly bad idea to reveal a part of the setting in initial minutes, so the Director's Cut is the perfect choice.

Dark City is definitely its own thing but was also a good warm-up for The Matrix, Existenz, and The 13th Floor, all of which came out a little over a year after Dark City. In retrospect I came to think of Dark City as the harbinger of a wave of great cinema, because damn did we get a lot of amazing movies from '98 to '00.
