In the opening scene at the mall, Buffy says Muumuu's Are Us, not Mommy's when she's commenting on Joyce's dress selection. The term bezoar, used for the egg laying monster, is an actual term for an accretion of matter, typically hair or undigested vegetable fiber, found in the stomach of ruminants and folk lore says it has magical properties. The term is used correctly by Prof Snape in the first Harry Potter book which came out a couple of years before this episode of Buffy. A sci-fi precedent for the monster and its hatchlings could have been Robert Heinlein's book, The Puppet Masters with a very similar monster but, of course, a very different resolution.

This episode is considered one of the worst in the series by most fans lol.
