You are reading way too much into Giles' and Joyce's conversation at the hospital. It seemed rather natural and innocent. If I were Joyce, I would be much more concerned about why a grown man is hanging around my daughter and her friends. Just imagine how much worse it would have been if Willow had allowed Giles to intervene for Buffy with her mom in the last episode when Joyce was delivering her sex talk. You guys didn't seem to react to the whole playing doctor bit. Is that not a thing anymore? And speaking of playing doctor...Would you inject a sedative into the IV port if you want a quick reaction?
